This was a good read overall. I found that it was a good plot, if a bit predictable. The writing was okay but I got a bit bored towards the end of the book.
What would you do when you find a hand delivered envelope on your doormat containing a newspaper article dated more than 30 years ago?
At first you might think, like Hope does, it's a mistake because it makes no sense to you. But when you take a closer look at the photo, you notice something you see when you look in the mirror...
Hope decides to get to the bottom of it, but she does not have a lot to start with. This does not stop her though and little by little, she uncovers all the hidden secrets and the scheming.
This is an interesting story with lots of intrigues. I loved the the way Hope interacted with her best friend. Their banter made me laugh. I found the connection with her elderly neighbour endearing.
It's always so satisfying when people get what they deserve in the end. 5 stars
Thank you
I felt like this book fell a little flat for me. It didn't keep me on the edge of my seat and I really did not care very much what happened.
Thank you to netgalley and publisher for the arc of This book
5 stars (sorry its late had technical issues at time submitting my review)
Such a great read, compelling, twisty. Dark and addictive made me want more! Edge of seat page turner! Highly recommend Kerry Wilkinson is such an amazing author
I really liked the premise of this book, but it felt more like a family drama than a thriller. I felt like the premise was given away too early, and then the rest of the book fell flat for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This starts right away with an old newspaper article about a kidnapped child 34 years ago. The woman that receives it starts to believe that she’s that child. From there we are met with a cast of characters that have a lot to hide. Who can Hope believe and trust? This was a page turner. Kerry is good at weaving a story together. Another good one from him.
I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.
Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.
However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x
This is definitely one of the longest, drawn out, slow burn reads that I’ve come across in a long time. The blurb sounded good and the storyline had great potential but it just fell flat after all the build up and suspense when it all came together. I found it a slog to keep turning the pages and you weren’t really given much to keep the attention other then it being drawn out far longer then needed. The characters were a little flat for me also. Likeable enough but just not much depth.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review #TheChildInThePhoto
I thought this was a quickly-paced family drama that kept me interested until the end but also fell a bit flat for me. I really enjoyed the premise. A cold case about a missing child, as a true crime fan, it was right up my alley, and I liked the author's fast-paced writing style. Where this book fell a bit flat for me was the plot itself. This book is marketed as a psychological thriller but there was nothing psychological or thrilling about it. This was a straightforward family drama.
Kerry Wilkinson certainly knows how to pen high-stakes psychological thrillers that keep readers on the edge of their seats and he’s on top form with his latest novel, The Child in the Photo.
Hope always believed that she knew where she came from. She has never had any cause to wonder about her origins or the skeletons in her family’s closet – until a newspaper article is pushed through her letterbox detailing an incident that happened thirty years ago about a baby who had been snatched from the back of a car. Who went to such great lengths to post the article through her door? And why? As she looks at the photo of the child, Hope is completely floored when she realises that the little girl has an unusual scar identical to hers. Is Hope the abducted child? And have her parents been lying to her all her life?
Hope’s parents have always been there for her and showered her with love and support from the moment she was born. But was it all built on lies? When she finds her mother burning papers, Hope’s suspicions increase tenfold, however, when a woman covered in bruises turns up claiming that she knows who abducted her, Hope doesn’t know who she can trust anymore. Is this strange woman somebody she can turn to during this difficult time? Can she believe her parents when it seems that they’ve been lying to her all this time?
Hope has her own secret to contend with, but she will go to any lengths to get to the bottom of this twisted mystery. However, her quest for the truth will force her to come up close and personal with a shocking reality and a devastating truth: she wasn’t the only child who had been stolen…
Kerry Wilkinson’s The Child in the Photo is a white-knuckle rollercoaster ride full of twists and turns that will leave readers with their nerves shredded. A brilliantly paced page-turner that is an absolute struggle to put down, The Child in the Photo expertly layers shocks, surprises and jaw-dropping revelations in a first class thriller readers will certainly not want to miss.
Big thank you to Netgalley and the author for thie ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Very interesting blurb! I had to give it a shot!
Hope receives a newspaper clipping about a child that was stolen over 30 ears ago and notices that the child in the pgoto bears some similarities with herself. Oils she be the missing child?
This leads Hope to question who she truly is, and will she find the answers ?
An easy read and quite enjoyable!
Thanks to the publisher and to Netgalley for the chance to read this book. This book was very good with lots of twist and turns to keep the reader engaged. I was hooked with the storyline , as everyone want or needs to know where they come from. Pure drama in this one. Cant wait for the next.
This was the first book I’ve read from this author and I’m sorry to say it will also be the last. The story was slow moving and by the end, with its lackluster plot twist, felt utterly pointless.
Kerry Wilkinson masterfully weaves his storylines together and it makes for a great read. I thought it would take me a couple of days to get through, but I could not put it down once I started reading.
This author makes me like standalones,as I normally do not. He delivers them so well. They are always complex and surprising. This one was no different. Although not my favourite out of his stand alones, i would still give it about 4.25 stars. I liked how it showed all the different people and the different emotions involved once a kidnapping is discovered. It was paced well and delivered you to the conclusion nicely. The journey was as enjoyable as the conclusion.
My thanks to NetGalley and BookOuture for a copy of “ The Child In The Photo “ for an honest review.
I’ve read , and enjoyed , many of Kerry Wilkinson’s books and never been disappointed.
Although this isn’t my favourite of his I found it well written and very readable . As always the characters were relatable and you cared about getting a satisfactory ending for Hope and Stephen .
Realise that Kerry Wilkinson has written numerous books but to be honest this is the first one I've read. Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the opportunity in return for the opportunity and as a result I will certainly be seeking out other books by her.
This book hooked me in from the first chapter and kept my attention the whole way through. A cracking storyline where the main character is forced to face up to the fact that everything she is and thought she knew could be a lie, I've no intention og giving away the sotryline any further but strongly recommend this book. Thanks again
First of all , I am always attracted to a good cover. They say you shouldnt judge a book by its cover but hey I do. this book had me guessing the whole way through. Loved the pace of this book and highly recommend.
AMAZING, ENJOYABLE AND SHOCKING FAMILY DRAMA
Hope is a young lady, living a normal life. Out of the blue, she receives a newspaper clipping in her mail that is from 34 years ago. It tells the story of a 6 month old baby that was kidnapped from a car. Something remarkable about the baby is a scarred ear she has. Hope is 34 and also has a scarred ear exactly like the one in the picture. She confronts her mom who adamantly say it's a lie but Hope isn't convinced. She starts her own investigation and soon discovers that she indeed, is the baby from the newspaper. The hunt to finding her real birth parents and the story behind her kidnapping begins. I finished this book in one day and I enjoyed it. It's a drama filled with secrets, betrayals and love. I love Hope's character and her relationship with her neighbor. I think she's a normal person trying to move through life and now this bombshell just falls on her. Her trusting someone she doesn't know just because she says she knows the truth that Hope is seeking for makes Hope more human. She was desperate for the truth and couldn't see any other way around it. After an accident she had years ago, Hope struggled a lot with her amputated leg but fought through. I really love the setting - kinda not urban and not too country.
Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for the arc copy of The Child In The Photo.

1 star.
This was a disappointment. I found the story to be lacking in so many ways. It was dull and read like there was no emotion in it. The description sounded really good but I was left feeling like, ok, is that it? If the story had a colour it would be grey.
I'm also wondering why this is in the Mystery/Thriller category. It was more a slow paced Women's fiction.
Unfortunately I can't even think of a positive thing to say about it.
