Very informative - would highly recommend to anyone looking to get into camping, hiking or backpacking, anything like that. I, however, will remain safely in the comfort of my house and read books about bushcraft rather than actually experiencing it. I don't like being cold, wet or outdoors when it's dark out. Or sleeping on anything other than my own bed.
Do you believe in things happening for a reason? I do. Being a newbie outdoorsman, Bushcraft fell right into my lap. Although traditional Bushcraft is mainly about wilderness survival, its focus on using the tools that already surround us can be applied to urban or suburban settings to serve as a practice for self-sufficiency and decreasing your footprint. Being a beginner, this book starts with the basics and works its way to professional Bushcraft. This book is a great field guide for beginners and non beginners. Always learning is my favorite motto.
A great resource for campers, hikers, or anyone else looking to spend time outdoors! It provides basic useful material about how best to survive outside, whether that’s during a backpacking trip in a well-traveled area or in the middle of the wilderness in an emergency.
I wanted to read this book so that I could see if it would make a good gift for one of my outdoorsy friends, and the result is a resounding yes!
It contains so much useful information, from the most basic things you need to know, through to full on survival in the wild.
Broken down into sections it is easy to follow and to find what you are specifically looking for.
It covers the equipment you will need for each section also, from looking for food, to building a shelter. It also has a great section on what you need in your first aid kit, although hopefully you won’t need it.
Overall a well written book that I would definitely recommend.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review,
