If you are a veteran of this and the Pride series, you'll probably remember the giddy cry of Kyle in Bite Me:
“Kyle clapped his hands together and turned in a goofy circle. “I’m so excited!” he cheered. “Honey badgers! Honey badgers! Honey badgers!”.
Yep, that's me every time I am about to start a new book of the Honey Badger Chronicles series.
In this book, we have the MacKilligan's shenanigans but the focus is centred on Max's basketball team (I soooo enjoyed the initial flashback to the moment they met, I thought I could really do with more of that) and especially on Mad. Oh, and let's not forget the Black Malones. I don't want to say more about the plot, as always with Shelly Laurenston's books is intense and multilayered.
If you are a reader of this shifter's world Laurenston has created (we have subtle cameos of beloved characters we all know and miss, but they don't rob the protagonism to the current stars of the show. Sometimes they don't even appear by their name, but we know who they are, oh, we do know them) I don't have much to tell you but trust Shelly Laurenston, she doesn't drop the ball.
If you are new to this, ok, maybe it would be easier to start at the beginning, but if you are not afraid to start in media res, I won't spoil a thing, I'll only tell you you'll find hilarious situations and characters, a world of shifters with strong values, shifter sports, scorpions, venom, baking, oh and Vikings, this time there are Vikings too.

I loved the book, it is not yet out and I can't wait for the next one.

Shelly Laurenston has done it again I adore her books and I read this in just over a day, I’ve got a book hangover but I don’t care.
We’ve had McKilligan sisters stories and now Shelly has moved onto Max’s basketball teammates the first being Mads who is also a hybrid crossed with hyena.
We get to see initially how all the team got together as friends as such and helps understand the dynamic of the group.
We come upon them all on an island outside of New York and they run into the Malone brothers trying to hunt down their fathers killer.
A thank you by the team to the brothers ends up with the brothers evicting them rudely from their home which unfortunately ends up wrong for them as they need Max’s honey badger connections to find out what happened to their father as none of the Malone’s want to help them as they are the Black Malone’s only for their black pelt.
You get to see the byplay between the team and how they interact with each other and how Mads has how to survive with her hyena family.
A great book full of action and retribution done magnificently by Charlie as ever and the indestructibility of honey badgers.
A great story well worth the read

Another great read from Shelly, I loved Mads and Finn. There is always drama and adventure when Honey Badgers are involved, adding the Malone tigers certainly took it up a notch. This book was fast paced and has amazing characters. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Thank you so much Kensington and NetGalley for giving me this book to read in exchange for an honest view.

Let me start off by stating that Shelly Laurenston is one of my favourite authors and I love her honey badger series. There are also callbacks to characters that appeared in previous books, but not so much that it detracts from this book.

That being said, it has been a while since I read Max's book, so for some reason I thought I was just dumped into this world with all these new characters that I didn't know of before. Or maybe my memory is going already?

There was also the fact I miss the romance that at least some of the previous books had. The relationship which did somewhat simmer underneath just burst out of nowhere.

Don't get me wrong, the mystery and the plot are tight, as one would expect from this author, I just wish the relationship aspect was highlighted a bit more. Which is completely a personal preference, I know.

To conclude, 4 stars for interesting characters and a neat plot. I really do like this author and her GA Aiken books are super wonderful, too.

This book is amazing!!!. We read about Max's team for a few books now and they are very interesting. I am glad that Shelly Laurenston decided to expand the series to add them in so we can get the back story!!!!

When the team finds themselves in trouble they are rescued by none other than Finn Malone and his brothers. However, after the team tries to say thanks the badgers are rudely ejected from Finn's home, the Malones find out Honey Badgers are the only ones who can help him solve a family tragedy.

This book ended with some great setups for furthering some of the plots involved, ensuring that we will see many of these characters again. I am thrilled to know there will be more fun in the future.

The Honey Badgers are back and no one is safe. Breaking Badger is Mad’s story. Mad is one of Max’s basketball teammates. Their team is in the playoffs, someone is trying to kill them, and Mad’s grandmother has died. We find out that Mad’s family was not very nice to her so she lived with her grandmother. Max’s sister Nat Malone is coming into her honey badger powers. Nat’s brother Finn wants to find out who killed his father. Finn and Mad hook up. Mad buys a house in the same neighborhood as the MacKilligan sisters. There are the various cast of hybrid shifters constantly providing action in Breaking Badger. Something is always happening and we are treated to globe trotting shifters. I love this world that Shelly Laurenston has created and when I grow up, I want to be a honey badger.

PS: I think Dee-Ann Smith (Big Bad Beast, Pride Series #6) has met her match in Charlie MacKilligan. I need to go back and read the Pride Series.

5 stars. Yes you need to read this series. Start with Hot and Badgered.

If you liked Shelly Laurenston's first three books in her Honey Badger series, you won't be able to put the story of Mads Galendotter down! Her story is entwined with those of the Mackilligan sisters, Stevie, Max and Charlie so you get to see the continuing story of the three sisters and Max's basketball team/crime squad. As if that isn't enough awesomeness, more details of how the basketball team met fourteen years prior are revealed!!

The Honey Badgers discover that big game hunters are at it again, but using regular humans instead of shifters this time. This leads Finn (of the Malone Tigers) to rescue Mads - and she's allergic to cats! There is football, mayhem, basketball, mayhem, honey badgers, self-important tigers, and some romance. There also seems to be a set-up for between two and four more books in the Honey Badgers series!!!!!!

I love Shelly Laurenston's ability to create a believable world of the most unlikely characters that will both engage the reader and have them laughing out loud. I would read her grocery list just to read more by this author.

Thank you Kensington Books and Netgalley for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review.

If you want a book that will make you laugh you need to read Shelly Laurenston!

Viking badger Mads Galendotter and her basketball team play in the professional shifter leagues but meet Finn Malone and his brothers (Black Malones) who are trying to find out who killed their father. And that is the start of Breaking Badger which has Mads and Fin and their teams and friends try to get some answers but as with any Shelly Laurenston book, you know they will steamroll over any obstacle getting answers which lead to more questions and answers.

Breaking Badger is the fourth book in the Honey Badger Chronicles but starting with the Pride series helps you understand who all the characters are and where they fit in the different series.

PS. I still want Kyle Jean-Louis Parker’s book!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another fantastic installment in the Honey Badger Chronicles, which is a spin off from the Pride series. It did take me a bit at the beginning to get all the characters straight in my head, because there are just so many of them.

The couple in this book is Finn and Mads, though their relationship takes almost the length of the book to develop, which is fine with me. I enjoy all the interactions from the variety of characters and the ensuing snark and hilarity, action and chaos. That's why I read these books - they make me laugh.

In this story, we are entertained by Mads and her basketball team, instead of just the MacKilligan sisters and their issues (though they certainly played their parts). I particularly enjoyed that Charlie and her weirdness and violence had a lot of time in this story. We also got a lot of tiger time with the Black Malones, not to mention football tryouts and a coyote that does not understand the concept of personal space.

This book ended with some great set ups for furthering some of the plots involved, ensuring that we will see many of these characters again. I am thrilled to know there will be more fun in the future.

I will never get enough of Shelly Laurenston's shifters, and the honey badgers have fast become my favorites.

I love this serie! This book was fast paced, witty, sexy and at some points quite gritty. This is the fourth book in the Honey Badger Chronicle, and have the same kind of fun characters and witty banter. In this book we follow Finn, a tiger shifter, and Mads, a badger- hyena shifter (Mads is one of Max basketboll team-mates). Finn is one of the Black Malone brothers and ends up needing the honey-badger help to try to find the person who killed his father. I really like this book my only teeny-tine complaint is that I would have wanted a bit more sizzle between the main characters. But is still a great book and I'm looking forward to the next book!

This was fantastic!

I loved Mads and Finn and enjoyed seeing them interact. And the humor was great! A book making me smile while I read doesn’t always happen, but this one did it. The surrounding secondary characters just made the story that much better and funnier.

The only loose end I was left wondering about at the end of the book was whether or not Mads and Finn ever ate the dark chocolate cake from the Jamaican restaurant. And that's pretty awesome for me.

Would definitely read again and recommend!

I so enjoy the honey badgers they are always fun, hilarious and just all around rock!. This one is about Mads and Finn “Black” Malone. Finn and his Siberian Tiger brothers are on a mission to find out who killed their father a long time ago when they crash into the honey badgers who are also on a mission. These two groups are hilarious when they are together, Finn and Mads seem to have a lot in common and just seem to come together with a little, help, from friends.

Love that you have Max and her sisters throughout the story and all their boyfriends. Plus you get Cella Malone and DeeAnn Smith which also adds spice to the story. Really enjoyed this story and can’t wait for more.

Shelly Laurenston has done it again! She's the queen of humor paranormal romance. I laughed aloud multiple times and fell in love with the "team". I cannot wait to read the next books in the series and find out more about the team! And yes, I keep guessing at the parings of team and cats!

The Badgers are back! Shelly Laurentson always delivers a hilarious and action packed story with some of the fan favorite characters showing up from other series.

The badger chronicles highlights Mads in this first installment of Max Mackilligans basketball shifter team. Mads is all about basketball and her teammates are her true family but she finds out that her grandmother that raised her has passed away. She’s hiding the abuse and insanity of her biological family from her friends to spare them but of course her friends won’t let that happen.
Finn Malone and his brothers are searching for their fathers killer and get tangled up with Mads and her teammates while they are looking for answers. Of course Finn and Mads make a connection but more importantly craziness ensues.
Charlie is the best character ever and makes a great appearance in this book - also with Stevie and her weirdness. Throw in a new half sister, shifter sports team, gangsters and more and it’s a fabulous Shelly Laurenston book like usual. Only problem is waiting for the next book. Loved every second!

This book was just the book I needed for the mood I was in when I read it, more than I realized until I finished it as felt the satisfaction that comes at the end of a good read. If you're looking for lots of romance, heavy pursuit of a mate, angst or plenty of smexy time, this may not the book for you at the time. While Finn and Mags have some chemistry and make a good couple, the relationship development is subtle slow burn/organic (a trend in the authors past couple books). That's not to say there isn't plenty going on and action happening between the Malones, MacKilligans, Mags and rest of the badger crew. What were given is a fun, fast paced, slightly over the top story with some in your face moments (after all shifters do have an animal side), humor and a touch of crazy. While there are some unanswered questions left at the end of the story (hopefully to be addressed in future book(s), there is no cliffhanger. Just a HEA for Finn and Mags and a story with a lot of family and friendship at its heart.

Finn Malone, one of the huge Siberian tiger known as the Black Malones, helps rescue Max Mackilligan’s teammates of honey badgers during an Ops gone bad. When the tough gals show up to thank the brothers, their reception is less than friendly despite they fact that the Malone’s little sister is related to Max and her other sisters. Finn is the most reasonable one of his tiger family, but that is not saying much. Finn and his brothers have been trying to find out who took out their father some years before so when it turns out they need the honey badgers help, he must make nice with them which with badgers, is always a big challenge.

Mads has been part of their team since high school. They all know each other very well and especially for Mads, are family since her own mother from a hyena clan constantly ill-treated her. Whether as a basketball team, covert-ops, or a little thievery the badgers are famous for, Mads and her friend are fearless, undaunted, and often happy to deal in revenge. Mads is attracted to the big shifter tiger; but, is reticent about having a relationship beyond helping his family with their goals. Mads is all about basketball and does not enjoy distractions from the game that is her life.

Fourth in the Honey Badger Chronicles, the usual crazy antics of honey badgers, bears, tigers, and the eclectic shifter community continues with Charlie, Stevie, and Max lending a paw…er hand to help out Mads who is working with Finn on his quest. The focus on Mad’s bad news family drama as well as the usual shifter violence and high body count despite the comedic tone adds a lot of fast paced action to the story. This story was more a conglomeration of all the factions from the previous books even with the main focus ostensibly on Mads and Finn since their relationship takes a very back seat; however, this is still an enjoyable read from the very creative mind of Shelly Laurenston.

This is the fourth book in the Honey Badger Chronicles... and it does not disappoint! It is very much the continuation from the last book - we get the story of one of the half-brothers of the MacKilligan's half-sister and one of Max's teammates from the Wisconsin Butchers.

It is a classic Laurenston tale with humour, violence, basketball and everybody's (completely justified) fear of Charlie MacKilligan!

Congratulation on another fun Badger series book. I loved being able to see more of Max's teammates, as well as the cranky Malone brothers. Throughout the book I was trying to pick out who would be the next couple matched, or if the badger teammates would be finding others to match up with.

This story centers around Max's basketball teammate Mads and the youngest Malone brother Finn, but the old favorites we've their way around the book, including DeeAnn Smith and Cella Malone. It will also be interesting to see the youngest Malone/MacKilligan sister.

One disappointment was that we didn't get to see a lot of Ze. Hopefully he will make more of an appearance in the next book.

Thank you Netgalley and Kengsington Books for the chance to read Shelly Laurenston's latest novel in the Honey Badger Chronicles, Breaking Badger. Being in a book funk I broke my own ARC rule and read this almost as soon as I received it. And it made me laugh, and forget where I was for awhile! Shelly is back with more snarky, steamy, and outrageous honey badgers -- and you have to love them...you certainly can't kill them! This time the series shifts to Mads, Max's friend and teammate. When the team finds themselves in trouble they are rescued by none other than Finn Malone and his brothers. However, after the team try to say thanks the badgers are rudely ejected from Finn's home, the Malones find out Honey Badgers are the only ones who can help him solve a family tragedy. The Malones are just not sure how they can even get back into the badgers’ good graces. Since badgers lack graces of any kind . . .This story has lots of action, and some over the top violence. There are quite a few plots and tons of former characters from previous books I think you really need to read the Honey Badger Chronicles in order, but to totally enjoy the overall world I would encourage reading the entire Pride series first. This was a very fun read for me as Max "Kill it again" MacKilligan is in a good portion of the book and is one of my favourite characters.

Another page turner from the Badger series by Laurenston. All the regulars are here with a new focus on Mads, a hybrid honey badger and the Malone tigers. Still plenty of bears waiting for baked goods. The plot moves right along with each shifter variation displaying their cultural norms. The writing is so good that I recommend this book and series to just about everyone. Lots of high energy action in this book with comic book violence. It leaves me wanting a lot more.
