It’s a quick & fun read full of banter & quick wit. Plus, it’s an enemies-to-lovers trope and who doesn’t love that?!

Combine astrophysics with astrology, hilarious grandparents, a finicky cat, a teenage prodigy, and the battle of wits between Ben and Serafina and you’ve got your next summer read!

I haven’t read the first two books in the series, but I’m definitely going to while waiting for book #4.

Text Wars: May the Text be With You is a contemporary romance novel written by Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers.

Seraphina Lopez’s interest and expertise has everything to do with astrology. As a businesswoman, she is constantly trying to find ways to improve and promote her lifestyle app ‘Live for Your Star Sign’. Ben Williams, on the other hand, believes in ‘true science’. A focused and dedicated astrophysicist who is forced to go on a talk show to captivate the American public. When Seraphina and Ben meet, they are like oil and water, however, there is no denying the underlying attraction they have for one another.

Thank goodness for the secondary characters for being the voice of reason for both Seraphina and Ben who are quite stubborn and unwilling to admit when they are wrong.

This book was funny, compelling, and exciting. Loved the banter the main characters had with each other. Just a bit of warning. This is an antagonists into love interest trope, so if you don’t like constant bickering then this is not for you. The writing style also reminded me a bit of Meg Cabot’s Boys Series (which I highly recommend if you like this book). More specifically, instead of an e-mail format dialogue, it is in the form of text messages. While this is the third book in the series, it could be a standalone. This book has definitely peaked my interest and leaves me wanting to read the others.

It sounded like it was so good when i read the blurb, but after 30% i was so bored and i tried to get through it. But the male main character was meh, and the female main character was sort of alright but didn`t feel too connected to her.

A sweet rom-com for fans of witty banter and opposites who are evidently meant for each other. Even though the ending was a bit cheesy, there were moments of real depth, like with Sera and Ben discussed the difference between a fixed and a growth mindset. Ben's a bit of a snob and uses his intellect to diminish those around him; it was fun seeing Sera put him in his place. Sera is a bit of a loose cannon who really needed to be balanced out or "managed" especially during her freak out at the end.

I love Whitney's books. Superb writing. Fantastic storyline. Laugh out loud funny at times. If you haven't read her books you must asap. You'll never regret it.

Enemies-to-lovers troupe
This was my second book that I have read in this series and it was so so good!
What happens when an astronomer and an astrologer are invited to do a segment on morning television? You will find out when you read this book!
Ben and Serafina could not be more different! Ben is an astronomer and Serafina is an astrologer. Both have been requested to appear on a morning talk show. With a less that agreeable appearance on the morning show, the producers are wanting to have Ben and Serafina to make a weekly appearance. As they spend more time with each other, Ben and Serafina can not help but feel the growing chemistry between them despite their differences in beliefs. Can one that searches among the stars for life and one that guides their life by the stars make for a long lasting romantic pair?
These authors create such wonderful romantic comedies with likeable characters, chemistry and angst, and the cheesy HEA the reader is rooting for!
I enjoyed the side character as well. Serafina's grandparents were such a treat! I love elderly married people! They are so adorable and full of good life long advice. And did I mention the cat Mr. Spock!!!!!
I was not a big fan of the latter part of this book when the authors introduced the miscommunication troupe. That is one of my least favorite troupes because one or both of the characters become somewhat annoying by just not having the much needed conversation!! The ending was so goofy and cheesy that it had me grinning until the very end! Overall, I would really recommend this book to those who love an opposites attract/enemies-to-lovers story. I can't wait to read the next installment in this series!

Text Wars is a cute and fun contemporary opposites-attract romance, with good banter and interesting characters. The story follows Serafina Lopez, an app developer and astrologist, and Dr. Ben Williams, an astrophysicist with NASA, as they are thrust together on the stage of breakfast television to argue about how we understand the stars and the universe (Ben represents the scientific rationality side while Sera represents the spiritual mysticism side). As they clash the chemistry between them grows until it becomes impossible to ignore...

Things I liked: The banter between the two main characters, as mentioned, was well executed especially in regards to their two different perspectives of the world. I found Ben to be a really interesting character (he reads as someone who is neurodivergent to me, though this was never explicitly stated) the writers did a great job of allowing you to feel his internal emotional reactions to situations. The plot is fast-paced and easy to follow.

Things I didn't like: The plot device of having Sera's grandparents randomly show up felt very out-of-place and also just not enjoyable to read. I don't personally love the miscommunication that leads to a massive public scene trope, and this one was especially rough because of the inclusion of the character Gwen (why?) and Ben's general discomfort with being on TV.

Overall it's a decent beach read, that does a good job of allowing people who come from two different worldviews to learn how to meet in the middle and perhaps even evolve their own perspectives on life.

Thanks to the authors, Netgalley and the publishers for an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

How did I go this long without knowing about these authors. This book was purely delightful. A genuinely funny romantic comedy about opposites attracting in a combustible way.

When an astronomer and an astrologer are invited to do a segment on morning television sparks fly. Can they get around their prejudices and discover they are perfect for each other? Yeah they can. I found myself laughing way too loud, like I was a part of a studio audience. I totally identified with the heroine ... being a Libran myself.

I HAVE to go back and read the rest of these author's works - this one was a pure treat.

I have read two of these books so far and they just get better. I enjoyed the characters and their relationship was just a fun ride.

I can’t wait to read more.

I really wish I had better things to say about this book, but both of the protagonists, Ben and Sera, just seemed so toxic in their behaviour throughout this book that it really put me off!

I HATE HATE HATE the miscommunication and huge blowup before letting the other person explain trope, and there was just way too much of that in this.

Both of the MCs just seemed a bit shallow and trying too hard to be nerdy? Yet exhibiting toxic and narcissistic behaviours at the same time..

3.5 stars

I liked this story more than it's predecessor The Text God. It was a very cute, simple enemies to lovers rom-com that I actually enjoyed. I really liked the dynamic between Serafina and Ben, their banter, and eventually, the romance.

At points, I felt that the writing was a bit juvenile, but as a whole, I didn't feel like it detracted from the story. Sometimes it felt a bit dramatic and over the top, but it wasn't terrible. I still enjoyed reading the book very much.

As much as I loved the idea and what the authors are trying to do in this book, I think this book isn't just for me. The narration is so full of long descriptions of unimportant things and lots of musings from the character's head that it is so painful to read at times. Everything is being described in long paragraphs and it just made the reading experience to be excruciatingly painful. Despite that, I think other readers can find this charming if they vibe to that kind of writing style.

The classic enemies to lovers story gets the star-crossed lovers treatment!
.
Ben and Serafina couldn't be more different. Ben is an astrophysicist with a head for facts and Serafina runs a very successful business centered around how the zodiacs impact your life. When they clash on morning television and are forced to work together, sparks fly.
.
I liked this book, it was a fun and quick read but some things pulled me out of the world. I didn't quite feel the connection between Ben and Serafina, which meant it felt sudden when Ben realised he was in love with her, despite this happening at the 60% mark. I also felt Ben suddenly became a completely different character, which was a shame, and his completele transformation at the end (he himself likens it to Sandy from Grease) just felt wrong. I don't want one character to change fundamentally in a romance novel (obviously there should be growth, but it should feel right). Maybe I was just too much Team Ben in the fall out, I felt everyone around him was incredibly harsh to him and not at all to Serafina, which again didn't really make me wish for them to end up together.
There was some excellent funny moments though, and it makes you want to read on.

Harlequin Junkie Top Pick!

Oh this was pure reading gold! I loved ever single second of this hilarious romcom. Right from their first unfortunate meeting Seraphina and Ben had me in stitches, I mean really who wouldn’t laugh at the Dr Banana Pants snafu?

These two just played into their opposites roles to perfection, with Seraphina being the more pushy outspoken one and with Ben being the more shy studious character. I loved Seraphina and that she was so passionate about her business and about the stars, personally I love all those star sign quizzes so this was definitely right up my alley. As for Ben, how can you not love this guy? I loved the way he rolled with the punches and kind of stepped out of his shell.

I liked that this was a bit of a slow burn romance and that they were still trying to feel each other out but one thing is sure their chemistry was top notch. Another thing I have to mention is that Text Wars was packed with so many nifty little facts about astrology and astronomy that you will actually learn a few new things.

Dineen and Summers truly are the dream team when it comes to these cute and quirky romcoms, I absolutely adored reading The Text God and now love Text Wars to bits. Text Wars is an absolute must read for any and all Big Bang Theory fans, you will instantly love both of these two characters and all their zany antics.

A light, fresh and achingly romantic read. I loved the idea behind this story as we all know that the best of enemies can make the best of lovers! I would have liked to have seen some more 'angry' texting between them to really add up more tension but this is my minor preference. This is a great read with a real chemistry between the two lead characters. I have bought more books by these authors as this story was such a great escape for me.

This rom-com definitely had some great moments, but I think there are much better enemies-to-lovers stories out there.

I couldn't put it down and finished this one in one sitting. This was such a cute funny read!
There's a lot of fun written in this book, with a truly sweet romance at its core. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves contemporary rom-coms

What a sweet rom-com!

Serafina and Ben are very different in their beliefs, but so tender-hearted that all you can do is cheer for them!

<spoiler> I wasn't a big fan of the end scene on the TV set. I really expected Charley to set up a blind-date between Sera and Ben instead of this TV mess. However Madonna was such a great character, thanks for her/him !</spoiler>

For those who still believe astrology and astronomy are one and only thing ;)

Loved all of the nerdy references! Really catered to the nerds who also love romance novels! Perfect combo

I was desperate to read this after the joyous The Text God, and it did NOT disappoint!

Ben is an introverted (but hot as hell) NASA scientist. Serafina (best friend of Jen in The Text God) is a go-getting businesswoman who has developed a lifestyle app based on her extensive knowledge of astrology. When they are both guests on a national breakfast show, all hell breaks loose and they become instant TV stars. Forced together for regular TV segments, both have to navigate their own prejudices and their growing attraction for one another, with often hilarious outcomes.

I doubted that the writers would able to top the chemistry and comedy in The Text God, but my goodness!! Text Wars had everything. Enemies to Lovers is my absolute favourite trope, and I'm a massive space nerd, but I also love astrology. So, for me this had everything! I need to go back and read the first story in the series, but having now read two books, I can confirm that these can easily be read as standalone novels (although it's always nice to have familiar characters and places from previous books pop up briefly).

Overall Rating: ❤❤❤❤❤
Heat Rating: 🔥🔥
Emotional Rating: 😂😂😂🥰😬
