This fairy godmother has fairy dust stuffed in her ears and mistakes everything said which results is some pretty big misunderstandings. Kids think this book is very funny. Would definitely recommend this book to young children.

This was such a fun, quirky story! I certainly wasn't sure what to expect from this silly fairy tale retelling, but it really made me laugh and smile on my commute!

I am such a sucker for fairy tale retellings, I will give any one a try. And I am so glad to have read this one. It was delightful and charming.

It’s the story of Cinderella, with a Cinderella who finds happiness in making other people laugh. Everything proceeds as usual until she meets with a Fairy Godmother that has her ears clogged with fairy dust, resulting in several hilarious mishearings of Cinderella’s wishes. The whole thing reminds me of the spoonerism of Rindercella.

The story is accompanied by bright illustrations with a charming and distinctive style. And the happy ending happens because Cinderella and the Prince find the things that they have in common with each other, like their senses of humor.

I’m looking forward to reading a physical copy of this with my nibling.

It doesn't go too far to say this is my favorite retelling of Cinderella. Cinder-Elephant is lovable and hilarious. The story arcs through the usual beats, but...she's an elephant, folks. It's just a joy. I am getting a copy of this book to read-aloud to grades 2-3 in library. I can't wait to hear what they think of it!

I love this series! It's so much fun, I would've loved these twisted tales when I was a kid. This story starts out much the same as it normally does, though Cinderella is a bit clumsy and loves sing sing and dance. Things really take a turn on the night of the ball, when the Fairy Godmother unfortunately has her ears clogged with fairy dust, and mishears everything Cinderella asks for- she gets a giant roach instead of a coach, a diver instead of a driver, and when we get to the dress.....well, Cinderella wanted to be elegant, not to be an elephant. But when will she get a chance to go to a ball again? She goes as she is, and has a wonderful time with the Prince, who is tired of the usual boring royal stuff, and happy ending, here we come! I really enjoyed the twist in this tale, and loved the theme of being yourself, warts (trunk?) and all. The illustrations were a lot of fun, with outlandish details- the stepsisters wardrobes! Ha! Another great addition to the Twisted Fairy Tales series!

This is a normal Cinderella story, with a problematic Fairy Godmother. A fun one, though, imagining if Cinderella's life could be this way. And am anxious for the ending, what would then happened?

I really do like the story, something fresh, if I might say. With a good ending too (I just love happy endings.).

Cinder-Elephant is a funny Cinderella retelling that's close enough to the original that kids are familiar with the story but different enough to make it stand out and be something unique on it's own. The illustrations are really nice!

A big guilty pleasure for me is fairy tale retellings. I love the goofy spin books can take on classic tales, and I especially love them after taking an English class all about fairy tales and scary creatures.

This take on Cinderella - so gracefully titled Cinder-Elephant - it a hilarious spin on a fan favourite classic. We meet a fun and lovable lead who will make you feel like a kid again! She's happy and excited until she meets her step-mother and step sisters (Gertrude and Agatha). The typical story arcs of Cinderella go on - mean family, lots of chores, the likes - only to introduce a big twist... a Fairy God Mother whose hearing is... Not amazing. This book makes the typical tale so much more funny! Oh, miscommunication at it's finest.

I highly recommend this short read for young readers wanting to giggle. I loved it! So much fun wrapped up in a picture book!

This twisted tale honestly doesn't work for me. It's a bit much. But I suspect that some kids will really enjoy it.

Such a cute story! I enjoyed the twist in the story and how the fairy godmother misunderstands everything that is said. This will make giggles among kids for sure, Very pretty illustrations as well.

Written in a simple yet catchy language, this unique, humor-filled retelling is undoubtedly a great pick for young kids. The author went against all stereotypes and adorned the story with her unusual imagination. Besides, the attractive illustrations are icing on the cake.

Cinder-elephant is one of the most recent stories in the twisted fairy tales collection.
This fabulous retelling of cinderella told in a twisted the way was so fun and quirky and I absolutely loved it!
I loved the character changes (for the pumpkin, horses, Prince etc) and it really put a smile on my face reading this. I shared it with my little one and she giggled all the way through.
A great addition to the collection and a must read for all retelling fans!

1. The entire premise of this book is based on the fact that Fairy Godmother needs to get the fairy dust out of her ears! When Cinderella asks to look elegant for the ball, Fairy Godmother turns her into an elephant instead! From there hilarious antics ensue!
2. This story has a lot of words on each page, but it also includes small (and hilarious!) illustrations to support the story. Kudos to the illustrator, James Hearne, for making me laugh more than once!
3. It is funny! Kids will love it!

Story of cindrella reimagined. It is a Innovative story for kids. In it cindrella becomes an elephant. And then amazing things happen. Artwork is wonderful. All illustrations are nice. A very good book for kids.

This book was fun to read.

It starts as the typical Cinderella story with a beautiful girl whose dad remarries an evil woman with two daughters of her own. After her dad passes away, the girl becomes the servant for the evil stepmother and stepsisters until one day the King and Queen send an invitation for every young girl to attend a ball to find the Prince's future wife. As in the original story, the beautiful girl is left behind while the two daughters get to go to the ball... until a fairy godmother magically appears and insists to help the girl to go to the ball. Except the fairy godmother ends up magically transforming the beautiful girl into an elephant... and then we get Cinderelephant's experience at the ball. Not only she dazes the prince even in her Cinderelephant appearance but she also makes him enjoy the night by dancing and being silly all night long until she has to go back home.

At first I was confused as it was the same story as cinderella but once the transformation happens, the book became a whole new story. It was enjoyable and my son loved the story and the happy ending. I also had the chance to explain to him what a stepmother/stepsister is which is always nice when a book provides these type of opportunities.

We all know the story of Cinderella, and if you start reading this book and think it is the same old retelling with new illustrations, you wouldn’t be alone. I thought the same thing when I started reading it with my kids, suppressing my internal groaning. Samantha Newman’s Cinder-Elephant starts out very much like all of the other versions of Cinderella out there. And then you reach the twist. Cinderella’s fairy godmother has fairy dust stuffed in her ears and mistakes everything said. This results in some very big misunderstandings which will have preschoolers familiar with the regular Cinderella story giggling.

Poor Cinderella here Fairy Godmother is a little hard of hearing so her night at the prince's ball goes a little different than the traditional story. Does everything turn out right for Cinderella or is going to the ball as an elephant just too much?

A Lovely humorous take on a classic. Would recommend it to all my students.
