When a broken computer leads to a tall, dark, and handsome man, Camille isn't complaining. An instant connection forms between her and Aiden and before she knows it, they're married.
I love that this tale is a modern retelling of a classic musical and that made it all the more charming. Aiden is the oldest of seven brothers and Camille takes it upon herself to not only have the family she always wanted, but to simultaneously marry them all off.
While they married quickly, they took time to figure each other other, especially through the ups and downs of real life, which wasn't at all what they expected. I loved getting to know these brothers better and enjoyed watching them bumble their ways through dating.
Such a happy, fun, engaging story of the roller coaster of love.
Content: mild romance; mild+ religion
I would say this book was an okay read for me. I think it was me not the book at fault here as i was in one of my mood to read something else and was reading this.
But thank you Netgalley for the ARC!
A charming modern take on Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, filled with humor, faith, and romance.
Camille Kelly is teaching at the local college, but having trouble finding housing before she ages out of being eligible to live in the dorms. A broken computer leads her to a whirlwind romance and marriage to Aidan Peterson, but she is surprised to find that 5 of his 6 brothers live with him...and now them. Camille puts her matchmaking skills to the test, while adjusting to her new marriage and 5 additional housemates.
This was a fun read from beginning to end, a sweet read with plenty of humor and great interaction between the characters. I loved how we got a pretty good sense of the brothers and the girls, making it easy to keep their stories straight in my head. Full of charm, with not just one love story, but 7, it was also fun seeing Camille get to know her new brothers-in-law and help them find love.
Overall, a heartwarming, feel-good rom-com, with likable characters, and wonderful friendships. A great pick-me-up that brought a smile to my face. Engaging, and entertaining, perfect for fans of wholesome rom coms.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I absolutely loved the concept of this book. It’s so much fun to read, and the characters are wonderful. Once you read this book, you’ll want to go back and watch the movie, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”. The author did a great job of bringing her version of this musical to life. It’s a great book to read when you want something entertaining and inspiring.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own..
.
I would have loved to read about each of the couples in their own books, however, considering the basis of the story I can say that this story is great. I did love the story, characters, and plot. I was impressed with how Anneka was able to bring in some of the biggest moments of the play into the novel with a modern twist. I will definitely reread this book. Thanks for the amazing story.
I really wanted to love this. I even went back and rewatched the inspiration musical, which, is ridiculously campy and fun and... this wasn't quite that. It's weird because a book with fourteen main characters should've felt cluttered and slapdash, but this didn't. It was just... slow. Maybe I'm the problem? I couldn't really connect to any of the fourteen characters.
I would like to thank netgalley and Covenant Communications for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Not interested in the Christian values.
Although it has been years since I have seen the movie, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" I was excited to read this version. This modern day retelling has seven quirky brothers and some sweet but feisty roommates and best friends. The story is humorous. Their faith is inspiring. The plot moves quickly and is a lot of fun to read.
I was very excited to read this book however it felt a little slow and overwhelming. There were quite a few characters I found myself getting lost. I felt like Camille's friends were very immature and therefore irritating. I felt like it was trying too hard to be a romcom and belittled certain issues in relationships. I know it's a christian romance and I'm a catholic but I couldn't stand the slight misogynistic tones.
If you love Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, you'll love this!! Aiden is the oldest of his family and when his parents died, he back the fat of the pack. When he meets Camille, the story begins. In a whirlwind romance, they marry and she moves in with Aiden... and his six younger bothers.
Aiden seemed to be gone for most of the books, but Camille gets to know each of the younger brothers .As she sets the up with each of her friends. Aiden and her's relationships starts to deepen into the true love we witness in the original.
While this wasn't my favorite romance (the miscommunication trope isn't a favorite), it was sweet and I loved the similarities to the original.
I love a good modern retelling of a classic book or film, but unfortunately, this one didn’t work for me. It was definitely a cute concept with Camille running into Aiden to get her computer fixed, but it turns out that they had a crush on each other from a past mission trip together. And then setting up Aiden’s brothers, very adorable and a fun concept. What made this book hard for me to finish, was the fact that it was a very religious book, I had a hard time reading about their faith. I wasn’t expecting that in this book, and there was no mention of religion or faith in the synopsis.
Thank you to NetGalley for this book!
What Can I say about this book? What a surprise. this narrative is clear an light, full of sweetness and faith, and comedy in balance all together. Although I´ve never seen the inspired musical(But I am up to fix that), I hadn´t find it difficult to understand and be imersed in the story. On the contrary. It was delightfully easy to swim through the pages, looking foward to see how the story was going. I loved how the retelling has fit so well in the inspired musical(the book which the musical was inspired too ) and also by the ancient myth of the sabine Women(altought the original story would a bit bizarre haha), but in a christian perspective, it a was a funny ride. A delightful journey indeed.
I love that this is a retelling of the story Seven Brides for Seven Brothers! I thought that Anneka did a wonderful job of bringing the old movie to life.
Romance, sweet, contemporary; retelling
Aiden and Camille's story was a cute retelling of the beginning of 7 Brides for Seven Brothers. Cute premise, sweet romance, and fun setting. While I enjoyed the general novel and setting, and I was aware of the movie not quite fitting current sensibilities, it still wasn't fun to read it with some of those still intact with those brothers (ha, ha, ha!). Aiden and Camille were fun characters with worries, concerns, hopes, and dreams. Loved them as a couple, but again, just wanted more. Glad Aiden stepped up and figured out he needed to communicate better and be more aware of Camille and her needs. Cute escape read, and fun if you enjoy the movie.
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. My opinions are my own.
Such a fun modern take on a '7 Brides for 7 Brothers.' You won't want to miss out on this delightful story that is filled with all the romance and laughs you could want.
A little silly, but if you can put aside your disbelief, the book is sweet and enjoyable. I can't really think of another or more reasonable way to modernize Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, so I was to easily accept what I otherwise would find annoying.
This was cute. But I am just not a fan of 7 brides for 7 brothers. If you agree you will love this book. It was clean and well write. Just not a store line I enjoy!
I really enjoyed how the author turned 7 brides for 7 brothers into a modern day story and still stayed true to the original story line.
It was fun and uplifting and I’d definitely recommend
This was a wonderful retelling of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers! I'm impressed that the author was able to take a classic musical and make it contemporary. It was funny and relatable and I would definitely read it again!
It was fun and uplifting book, it was a modern day story of "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers"
set in Montana.
