This was a fun spin on the famous "7 Brides for 7 Brothers". I loved the comedy, and the sweet love story. Such a fun read!
This is a delightful story which is inspired by Seven Brides for Seven Brothers musical. Set in modern day it parallels Camille marrying Aiden just like Millie and Adam in the musical. In both cases Aiden/Adam are the oldest of seven brothers. Camille/Millie comes into the family and steps up to take care of the large family still living at home.
I enjoyed this story so much especially how it was set in current time. Thank you Netgalley for complimentary copy.
Great clean fun read.

This book wasn't my favorite, but writing a modern-retelling based off a historical play is a challenge. I loved the connections between the movie and the book, but also that was my least favorite part. Trying to connect to the past was a challenge when the modern world is so different caused a littel bit of an issue for me. But all in all it was a good book.
The plot was interesting, but as I kept reading, I noticed that some parts of the book were just too fast-paced. The brothers and friends were hilarious, but some were a bit cliche. Maybe I’m just asking too much because there were too many characters. I give this 2.5/5 stars.
This is the modern day retelling of the classic Rogers & Hammerstein Musical Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. This is a musical I am very familiar with as I used to watch it all the time with my Mum when I was younger.
The story starts with Aiden & Camille meeting and marrying quite quickly, so quickly she doesn't realise she is moving into the Petersen Farm and she'll have six extra house mates. Her plan is to marry them all off so they move out so she plays match maker between her brother in laws and her friends.
This is a very sweet, clean read and readers of all ages will enjoy.
I’m a little torn on this book. There are so many cute things about it and it has potential, but then there are so many ridiculous things about it that it just clouds my opinion.
This book is about a nearly 30 year old named Aidan who is caring for his 6 younger brothers after his parents died 10 years ago. Aidan suddenly has an idea that he needs to get married within the next three months so he can have help around the house. Then he meets a girl that night and within a month, they are married. All of this could be cute, but then Aidan acts like a jerk and stays away from her for close to 6 weeks while in California on business. The guy is clueless and his wife just stays at home with his equally clueless brothers doing all the cooking and cleaning. No, thank you.
And then they have the brilliant idea to marry all his brothers off to six of her friends. Goodness.
This is a Christian book which is totally fine - but instead of respecting marriage like I would have hoped, it seemed to make light of marriage and only use it as a housekeeper / maid. This book just fell flat with me.
I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated above are mine without biases.
A delightful modern retelling of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers! This was a lighthearted easy read that gave me MAJOR Hallmark vibes! I liked this book but some parts fell a little flat for me and I had a difficult time feeling connections to the characters. But! It was still a very sweet and light read that I enjoyed! Rounding up 2.5 stars to give this novel 3 stars!!
Special Thanks to Netgalley and Covenant Communications for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. I was thrilled to read this take on 7 brides for 7 brothers as I love that movie. The author did a great job on modernizing the situations and dialogue and matching up the brothers. The pacing was a bit slow in parts but overall a very sweet and cute and clean novel!
This is a young adult type novel. The characters are in their 20's. If you love the movie "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", you will enjoy this book. Aiden is the head of his family, which consists of seven brothers. He feels he needs to set an example and marry. Camille Kelly is getting older and will soon have to move out of student housing. As an online teacher, Camille needs her laptop. When it starts acting up her sister suggests Aiden might be able to repair it. This is the start of a whirlwind romance. Before they know it, they are married. The kicker, Camille doesn't know that the brothers all live together in the same house!
This is a cute story and very easy to read. Just a nice little escape. It is clean and has a happily-ever-after.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book and offer my honest review.
Summary: When Camille Kelly and Aiden Peterson are reunited as adults, their teen crush turns into something more serious-fast. Within a few weeks, they’re married.
But Aiden might have forgotten to tell his new bride a few things. Like he has six brothers, and they all still live at home.
What is Camille to do but play a little match-making and hook her new brothers-in-law up with her best friends?
Nothing could go wrong……or could it?
My Thoughts: Although I liked the premise of this book, I did not enjoy the actual book. I did really like the relationships that Camille develops with her brothers-in-law-that part was fun and well-done.
However, for a romance, this book was missing a lot. First, Aiden comes off as a terribly selfish child. He leaves Camille to handle everything, can’t handle tears, and runs off after the first sign of conflict. Not very swoon-worthy.
And, Camille’s friends are very childish as well. They fight back dirty when things don’t go their way, and their pranks lead to some serious trouble.
Camille’s mother is a real piece of work, but when she shows Camille even the teeniest bit of love, Camille somehow gets over all her past pain in their relationship.
In fact, even with all the struggles and pain in this book-everyone lives happily ever after.
I do understand this book is modeled after the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, which is a bit on the silly side of things plot-wise, but I felt that plot didn’t translate very well into a modern story-especially when the characters did such mean things to each other.
I might be just reading too much into this book, and should take it for what it is-a modern re-telling of the movie. But I came away feeling sorry for Camille, and wondering how everyone else’s relationships could possibly last when no one seemed to learn from their mistakes in a way not to repeat them in the future.
If you really love the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and you don’t maybe take things as seriously as me and can just go along with everything that happens, you will probably enjoy this book. For me, it was not a favorite.
I would like to thank Covenant Communications for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you.
What a fun contemporary remake of 7 brides for 7 brothers. It had my laughing as well as feeling the struggle between Aiden and Camille as they make things work.. I enjoyed it a lot.
Brides and Brothers is a delightful romance filled with family, fun, and faith. You don’t want to miss this one.
This book was like watching a movie, right down to the swoon-worthy romances, the dirty dishes in the sink, and the socks on the floor. Well-written characters who are the reader’s best friends by the end of the story. You root for their successes and ache for their failures. Truly a delightful read.
This story gave me large Hallmark vibes and included likable characters. This was a very easy read and I liked that it was somewhat of a retelling of the storyline of 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'. While reading 'Brides and Brothers', I thought of it more as Christian fiction, which included very clean writing. Faith is talked about through this book, which gives you an idea of how the characters grow and interact with one another. I found it at times to come off as immature characters that did a lot of things just to create drama. Although I am not entirely into deep religious reads, this was cute but I did find some issues with the structure of the overall story.
That being said, I still enjoyed aspects of this novel and look forward to trying some of the author's historical romances. If you enjoy a cute religious and lean read, this was an easy read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a digital ARC.
Brides and Brothers was a cute romance story, but parts of it fell a little flat for me. I didn't realize until after reading it that it is a modern retelling of the musical 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. Some parts of the book seemed a bit far fetched, but may not have if I was better aquanted with the original. Parts of it did make me laugh and I enjoyed the banter between a few of the characters. With so many characters, it was a little hard to keep track of who was who and who each was dating. I actually would have liked to have more of Daisha and Benton's story. I would still recommend this to fans of Hallmark type movies and books, as well as fans of the original musical.
Camille falls quickly for Aiden, but little does she know that she is moving in with his 6 single brothers as well. She devises a plan to marry them all off to have Aiden all to herself.
This is a cute, modern take on & 7 brides for & 7 brothers. If you like Hallmark movies then this is for you. I enjoyed it but it was predictable, cheesy, but clean, and a quick read.
This book was a modern retelling of seven Brides for Seven Brothers. It was a fun book to read. I really liked the brothers in this story. They were fun and easy to relate to. The girls in the book were a little moody and dramatic for my taste.
All of the couples had a good love story, but with so many different stories going on there was no time to get to know the characters so it was hard to become invested in any of them.
Overall it was an enjoyable read and I will recommend it to others.
An adorkable modern take on Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I appreciate that no actual kidnapping takes place, but the constant gender stereotyping was cringey. I'll keep it in mind for reader's advisory when someone is only comfortable with an occasional kiss in their stories and nothing further.
This book is a re-telling of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, a musical that I loved as a kid. Back in the day the musical somehow worked and ended up being funny and romantic in a slightly disturbing way. I really wanted to completely love this book, but the premise is hard to do in modern day.
I enjoyed the story of Camille and Adam, and the way their relationship formed. Honestly, one whole book could have been told just flushing out their characters and their relationship. I didn’t like that Adam left out that his brothers all lived with him, and then basically kind of just ditched the whole situation to Camille. I feel like a modern day re-telling could have had Adam a little more involved than the previous version to make Adam more likeable.
Again, if each brother had a book so that we got to know them better and got to know their personalities and the women they were matched up with, I would have liked this book better. I didn’t feel connected with many of the characters, but with so many, it is hard to do in just one book.
This was a fun story to read. Some moments were laugh out loud funny, while other moments were just feel good and heart warming. I really enjoyed how the story shows the power of forgiveness in relationships and forgiveness. The characters frequently talk about relying on God to help them. The story wrapped up nicely at the end. I enjoyed seeing how everyone’s relationships came together in the end, especially with Camille and her mom. Overall a good read.
I had to read it since it's a retelling of one of my favorite films, and it does not disappoint.
The characters, and there are many, are distinct and well done.
The relationships—between the brothers and between the brides and between the brother and the brides—are all well thought out and enjoyable to see develop.
