Icon, legend, Mackie. For lovers of sequins, skin-match mesh, feathers, and all things glitteringly divine — this tome is chocked full of juicy tales from Mackie himself, as well as those told by his favorite ingenues. Stunning photos, exciting moments, gorgeous fashion.

It its amazing to read about the art and life of Bob Mackie. The author did a nice job telling the story of Mr. Mackie.

A wonderful book showing in detail the wonderful art of the icon that is Bob Mackie. It was impressive seeing all the designs her created and how he had a starring role in elevating what glamour looked like through through his designs. worn by the stars of the day.

An absolutely breathtaking book. Bob Mackie’s original drawings are beautiful, and paired with photographs of the actual fits (as my teen would say) plus the stories that go with them—immaculate. Whether or not you’re a fan of sequins and feathers, you have to admit that the lines of Mackie’s creations are beautiful and always flattering to the bodies he designed them for. This book is not just an homage to Mackie’s designs but to the stars and shows he designed them for. I need to binge some Carol Burnett. #TheArtofBobMackie #NetGalley

What a delightful book for lovers of costume and fashion design. The iconic Bob Mackie's designs and sketches are shown here and follow his career from beginning to the present. Some of his most famous garments are shown, the man has dressed Cher, Madonna, RuPaul, Celine Dion, and more. From movie sets to the Met Gala, Mackie's dressing is iconic. This book is a delight to read, particularly for lovers of costume and Hollywood.

I happily give this book four stars for the wonderful drawings by genius designer Bob Mackie and the photographs of his fabulous creations. The book itself is a mishmash. Confusingly laid out and scantily written, it does not live up to the genius it pays tribute to. Bob Mackie’s drawings are absolute works of Art.

A love letter to the huge design talent of Bob Mackie, this book is perfect for anyone who loves fashion, film, television, theater and nostalgia. I was excited to see all the beautiful pictures and sketches of gorgeous, glamourous, creatively funny, colorful outfits. I especially loved reading about Mr. Mackie’s life and descriptions of how his work was inspired and created for the memorable stars wearing his designs. Thank you NetGalley for providing an eCopy of this book for review. I definitely plan on reading it again. Can’t wait to see The Art of Bob Mackie in print!

Anyone who believes, as I do, that fashion art has an important place in our culture is going to live this book. I can't wait to have to have the hard cover.

This is a delightful read packed with photos of Bob Mackie's creations on all kinds of stars. I was only able to view the first half of the book but it was filled with fascinating info, stories, original sketches and oodles of photos. I was looking forward to seeing what designs he has done more recently and hope that content is as rich and gorgeous as that of the first half of the book.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book via Net Galley.

This was a very joyful book to read!!! To see Bob Mackie’s sketches and the finished product was awesome. I actually remember seeing various stars wearing his creations. Very lovely book with sketches, pictures and information. Outstanding!!! Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on this review.

Such a fun look at Bob Mackie’s career. Loved having his wonderful sketches side by side with photo of the finished garments.

I’m a firm believer in fashion is art so I was thrilled to receive a digital ARC of The Art of Bob Mackie. I am familiar with Bob Mackie’s designs and knew he had worked on the Sonny and Cher show, but I didn’t realize how prolific he was through the 60s, 70s, and even on to day. This book covers Mackie’s career beginning in the early 1960s to my guess is today (the ARC I received was only the first half of the book). Included are stories from each of his eras including quotes from Mackie and people he designed for, sketches of designs, and photographs. I loved seeing the pictures of the finished product next to the Mackie’s original sketches. Overall the book was a very fun read. It would be a wonderful coffee table book for fashion lovers and television lovers alike.
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon Schuster for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
