An oddly entertaining story that follows a seemingly normal suburban family with a lot to hide. It is a suspenseful novel that for the most part kept me guessing throughout. There were certain scenarios that I found quite humorous, though I’m not sure this is the author’s intent. The secrets that each member of the Adler family held were bizarre, yet entirely plausible, and I think this is what kept me captivated. I wanted to know what they were hiding and why the family were being targeted, just like any nosey neighbour should. Harding, did well to provoke my curiosity towards the closed doors within my own neighbourhood. Although it’s not the usual nail biting, edge of the seat thriller that I like to immerse myself in, it was a quick and easy read with just enough believability to keep me going.
Once I started reading this book, I could not stop. So many secrets, so many questions. It certainly was a page turner, and there were quite a few things I didn't see coming. Fabulous insights into a family that looks perfect on the outside.
It was a great read, but the only thing that dropped it from 5 stars to 4 for me was the ending.
While most of it was resolved (perhaps some things a little too easily), there was still a few things that left me saying 'but what about ...' It certainly kept me thinking long after I turned the last page.

This is an easy read. I have read other Robyn Harding novels and i feel that this novel was not as gripping as her other novels. However, it still had my attention and it was an easy read.
I find Robyn manages with all her novels to highlight the intricacies of family relationships and human behaviour. She weaves these around a plot very well and develops each character. This is what i like about her books and she does develop the characters well here, however the plot i felt was slightly unrealistic. Some of the characters were not overly likeable either, although this imitates life well!!
This novel depicts a family in crisis. Each family member has their own issues and secrets, which they guard ferociously from the other family members and the outside world.
Robyn does the paranoia of a guilty person well, in fact so well, it got me paranoid And on edge reading it!
This is An easy read and I'm sure most will find it a page turner.
Thank NetGalley for giving me a chance to read the perfect family. I am afraid I couldn’t give a better rating as the story was weak, far fetched and truly unbelievable. I couldn’t wait to finish it.
I’m reluctantly giving this book 2 stars because I have to admit it was an easy and compelling read. Unfortunately, however, I found it frustrating and the ending is a cop out.
The Adler family looks perfect from the outside, so why is their house being attacked? Turns out they each have secrets to hide so whose secret is responsible for the attacks?
Spoilers from here on in. I saw it coming that the repeated attacks were not all by the same perpetrator for the same reason. This just gets messy. Thomas, the father, is being blackmailed by his assistant for something he didn’t do. Viv, the mum, is a kleptomaniac, stole some teen’s dodgy drugs, got him in trouble, so he did some of the attacks. Eli is back from college, traumatised from witnessing a violent hazing event. He put some local kids onto chucking stuff at his house because hey, wouldn’t it be funny to freak out your parents, but then they wouldn’t stop. This part of the story doesn’t work well because the novel is written alternating from each of the family’s viewpoints so we hear frequently that Eli is legitimately freaked out by the attacks and worried that it’s the blokes from college trying to make him keep his mouth shut. But he should know it’s not them given that he apparently started this. Tarryn, the youngest, had a secret online life as a cam girl and starts getting pervy messages. At some point her friend admits to sending them to her to try to scare her away from the dangers of the internet. I didn’t buy that for a second, and sure enough Tarryn suddenly realises that her friends didn’t send ALL the messages so there’s a stalkery weirdo still out there. This is never resolved. She just decides to forget about him and moves on with a new friend (Girlfriend? The stalker? Who even knows? New character is introduced mere paragraphs before the end of the book.) Then, just when I was frustrated enough that Tarryn was unresolved and Eli was unbelievable, two months have passed since the last attack, Viv breathes a sigh of relief, and then another egg hits the house. Literally. So it’s not even over and so much is unresolved. It felt like one of those middle school “and then I woke and it was all a dream” endings.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC. I’m sorry I can’t recommend it.
This one kept me awake reading late into the night. There are so many secrets and so many threats. Who is responsible? Each member of the family has done something for which they could be the target. It kept me guessing and turning the pages. The resolution was a bit of a disappointment for me as the build-up was so great. However, it ends with some loose ends untied and a bit of an OMG moment that left me satisfied and frustrated at the same time. A great read!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

4 stars.
Woah this book has so much happening. The further into it I read, the more questions I had.
This story plays out well, keeping the audience attention and guessing what happens next.
I didn't really like the Mother Viv. The Husband Thomas wasn't much better either. But the two siblings, Tarryn and Eli, seemed more likeable.
Would definitely recommend this book.
The Adlers are a family of 4 under attack. Each family member has a reason to believe they are the cause of the problem, yet none will speak to each other about what secret they are carrying.
Told from alternating point of view characters across each family member, I found this to be an enjoyable read that kept me engrossed in the family’s tale and each members secret. This would be a good “by the pool” book, good storyline and not too hard to read. I got through it quickly in a weekend (I am a fast reader).

The Perfect Family with all their little secrets.
In Robyn Harding's new book we follow the story of the Adler family. The book is told from four different point of views, one for each family member. Everyone seems to be keeping their own secret from the family, but who is the cause of the harassment they are facing.
All these little events start to spiral out of control. The Adler's now feel their lives are at risk. We start to see some pretty serious events take place. Blackmail, Illegal drugs, witnessing a criminal offence, underage camming online, But who's secret is responsible for these attacks? Each family members secrets start to unravel.
I enjoyed how to book started off. It captured me straight away. It was fast paced, suspenseful and and kept me guessing. But then is just kinda ended....
All these secrets just seemed to vanish along with their consequences. Thomas's blackmail was just a scam, Viv's theft just blew away, Eli just says sorry and gets away with a criminal offence and Tarryn turns out not to have a stalker. So many questions were left unanswered and I feel like there was such a build up for then it all just to be wrapped up in a single chapter.
I thought this was going to be a real winner right until the end, but then I was let disappointed and a bit deflated.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.
This felt more like domestic drama than thriller, but it was still an enjoyable romp through the pretenses of suburbia.
The Adler family are well fleshed out, each with their own secret that could be the reason they are being targeted for harassment. Although I would have really loved more tension and danger, it was still a quick, well written book that arrived to a satisfying conclusion.
Some of my favourite reviewers have given this book 5-stars. Domestic thrillers are not my go-to genre, I like my reading very dark, so this could explain why it was not a 5-star read for me.
Robyn Harding certainly knows how to write and I look forward to reading more from her if the blurb piques my attention.
Recommended for lovers of Domestic thrillers/Domestic suspense.
‘The Perfect Family’ is, of course, far from perfect. In fact, the family falls apart pretty quickly as the four narrators gradually expose insights into what makes them tick, their foibles, their friends and enemies. It’s all a good mix leading the reader into the challenge of trying to work out what the heck is going on.
I must say, I didn’t see the rabbit’s ears as to the who/what/why, so I won’t spoil the show for future readers. I really had no idea, so hats off to Robyn Harding for concealing it so well.
Just a few comments: I didn’t find the attitude of the police believable. Sure, they wouldn’t have been all that interested about eggs and such pelting the house but once things escalated to a knife-carrying dark figure slashing tyres, an accelerant being hurled at the house, the covert entry into the house, the wasp attack, etc – what on earth were the police doing then? Nothing!
I agree with other reviewers about the sudden unresolved ending. There were too many questions not dealt with, i.e. who was responsible for the wasps in the rubbish bin. Did I miss it?
It was an enjoyable read, though, that kept me interested from the beginning.
Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Australia for the opportunity to read this book for a candid review. And my best wishes to Robyn for this book’s success.
When the entire family is keeping secrets from each other there is bound to be repercussions!
Thomas and Viv Adler, married with two children Eli and Tarryn. A family who appears perfect to the outside world but on the inside, all of them are keeping secrets and then their house starts getting targeted. Could one of their secrets be the cause of someone who is out to get them? It starts with eggshells and fruit on the windows and progresses with each attack, smoke bombs, tyre slashing and an attempt to burn their house down while they sleep! With all of this going on, while completely terrified, not one of the family members confesses that it could be due to the secret they are keeping.
Which of the Adlers is responsible for the vicious attacks and what is the secret they hold that is so bad they cannot speak out and try to put a stop to this nightmare?
This was a fast-paced, twisty and suspenseful popcorn read that was completely addictive. I loved the point of view from all four family members. The short chapters also built up the suspension nicely and kept the story flowing smoothly.
This was my first Robyn Harding novel. I have The Swap on my shelf ready to be read also.
This story follows a family of four who, on the outside, seem to be perfect. In reality, it is house of people who each have their own dark secret. When someone starts attacking their home, it is dismissed by the authorities as spirited kids acting out. When the attacks start to escalate, all of the Adlers are questioning if their secret is the cause.
This story is told in the four alternating perspectives of the family members. I love a good multi-perspective book - I feel like it quickens the pace and gives more depth to all the characters.
Overall, it was a bit ‘meh’ for me. While the story is action packed, it felt like not a lot happened. Some of it was predictable and some of it was just not relatable/believable. It was an enjoyable read, but was missing something I can’t quite put my finger on, which stopped it being a 4 or 5 star read.

This was a book that kept me engaged and guessing the whole time. With four family members with their own stories going on simultaneously it all came together resulting in a nice ending.
Wow, Robyn Harding book was an entertaining read, full of dark twist and turns that made me keep turning the pages as I wanted to know if anything more could happen to the Adler family. The Adler family have been keeping secrets from each other, this book explores each of the characters secrets and the potential consequences of keeping those secrets. Well done Robyn Harding on writing The Perfect Family is a fantastic read.
Thank you to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for the review copy of this book.
A different kind of read with the set out but becoming involved with the Alder family is intoxicating. I am sure all will enjoy this book!
This book is outside my normal but intrigued me enough that I wanted to give it a go. I quite liked this book with the family dynamics, the secrets they kept from each other and the world, and the parents trying to give off the appearance of being perfect all while their perfect little world was shattering around them. I thought the attacks on the family house and all the things they each faced individually a bit too much. It's not that I couldn't follow it, just that at the end I didn't feel like things had truly resolved enough to conclude, it didn't finish with a nice neat bow of conclusions at the end despite there only supposing to be one loose thread. I don't know, I just didn't find the ending satisfactory and it all felt a little rushed after all that build up.
This book was a surprise and I actually enjoyed it.
Different concept with the view of each member of a family and how their life isn’t perfect and how they cope and think they are the reason for the attacks on the family home.
Definitely would read more from Harding. Thanks for the opportunity to read someone new.
I smashed through this book - which isn't my normal form - I only sat down to read it 3 times. It was succinct and exciting with moments of real heart-racing suspense. I really enjoyed it. I loved that the story intersected at so many parts and how each member of the family had a secret.
The only thing that knocked it down for me was the lack of resolution, but I guess I'm a bit of a sucker for a wrapped up ending. That being said, leaving it open ended really adds to the suspense. Harding has pulled together a wonderful thriller!
God! What a family!
This was a really good read. This is the 3rd book I've read by Robyn Harding and probably my most favourite one.
Definitely be recommending this to my book club
