I think this is a good book for teens and even older for those who wish to read a condensed version of the science behind the corona virus. Considering our pandemic and confusion of its origin, effects, etc, it is helpful nonfiction during a time when it is most relevant. I appreciate the visuals, which are helpful to all readers. It reads as similar to a textbook, but as it's nonfiction and a book of science geared towards teens and young adults, this isn't entirely surprising. I think it provides a great deal of information and is important to today's society to understand the science behind the virus and our ever-present pandemic.
Some of the information given as hard facts have either changed or been updated. I do understand that the situation is fluid. I very much like the format and I think this will be great for some of my freshman. I plan to purchase a few copies for my classroom.
Thank you netgalley for providing an e-galley for review of Understanding Coronaviruses by Connie Goldsmith. I was impressed with this title. It presented the facts of the coronavirus pandemic as a constantly changing situation without bias. There are definitions, works cited, internet sites and other works of interest. This is written at an appropriate level for higher grades of juvenile and teen readers.
