For a work of non-fiction, Loving Your Place On the Spectrum made me do a lot of crying, laughing and deep thinking! I am on the spectrum as is my younger son so parts of Jude Morrows book went right to my heart. I think it is extremely well done and should be used in training everyone from waitresses to teachers, grocery store clerks to health care employees. The writing style was easily read and personable so its not your stereotypical boring text book. I loved reading it and have already started mentioning it to friends I think could use it in their work.

Such a great book, I don't know where to begin! I know several people with autism and have found that conventional narrow definitions don't do justice to them. This book is not based on limited definitions of autism. It's well-rounded, it's organic and it's authentic. It's also though-provoking and insightful, written by someone who experiences life on the spectrum. Kudos to the author for such a discerning and realistic peak inside ASD.

Everyone--EVERYONE--should read this book. As an autistic woman, I found Loving Your Place on the Spectrum to be a breath of fresh air. So many books and articles about autism are written by people who are not actually autistic, but not this one! Jude Morrow has actually lived the experiences he is writing about. Using both his own experiences as an autistic man and writings by other autistic people, Morrow deftly explains what it’s really like to be autistic; not by listing “symptoms” of autism or talking about how to get rid of them, but by delving into how autistic people actually experience life in different ways. Morrow’s strengths focused approach shines a light on all of the positive traits and strengths that autistics bring to their lives and relationships. Loving Your Place on the Spectrum is most definitely a Very Important Book, and absolutely a must read.
