This is a captivating read that will resonate with fans of romance and sports, particularly those who enjoy stories about complex relationships, self-discovery, and the blurred lines between friendship and love.

I didn't read this on Netgalley but did read it elsewhere. I thought it would be right up my street but it wasn't sadly. I'm not good with books that don't flow well and this was one of them.

I'm unable to review The Rebound by Bruce Lassiter. There is a combatibility issue with it on my kindle. Sorry.

I didn't enjoy this the first time I read it, and decided to give it another chance, hence the very late review.
It was just as uncompelling on the second read. And I didn't...really...finish the read the first time and refuse to DNR, but maybe for this one I just should have.
Some of the story is worded weirdly, I couldn't understand or accept some of the motivations of the main characters, and generally, I didn't enjoy the book at all.
This is an ARC. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy of this title.

Didn’t do it for me unfortunately. I struggled to get into it and eventually just stopped reading it.

A short romance? Sign me up. Thats what I was saying anyways. The wording was weird and the time had absolutely no flow what so ever. A romance book should set the world ablaze and keep it wanting to burn. Not whatever this was.

This is a quick read. It's a friends to lovers romance.

This is a typical lines get blurred between the friendship and a romance develops storyline. It's not super complicated, mainly because it's so short. This one isn't bad, but the writing style is not my favorite.

This book is a mess. It is awfully fast paced and I don't get why the author is rushing it so much since it only has 128 pages, which is nothing. He could have, and absolutely needed to, have taken his time to develop both the characters and the story. We were only able to catch glimpses of the action and so most of it didn't make sense at all. The writing style is not bad, but it could also improve. The premise is also nothing new and, while this normally something I don't mind in these kinds of books, I feel like there could have been something to set it apart from other, much better, similar books.

I am giving it 0.5/5 stars just for the "effort".

While I love a good romance every now and then, I didn't much enjoy this one. The story seemed thrown together and confusing, at times. It should be classified as new adult, instead of young adult. Usually, YA romances really play up the relationship parts before bringing in the sex. THis one was, at times, like a steamy Harlequin.

This book reminded me of a memory walk where you get glimpses of what’s going on and then it skips ahead. It was quite frustrating because I was like wait what happened. It lacked quite a bit of detail. It has potential but needs more

The Rebound is a short story about a pair of basketball playing friends. They share a love for basketball, and even have hopes of going pro. They also have feeling for each other. The lines of friendship blur and things get complicated. Overall this story is an easy read. It definitely needs some editing, and I found the language to be a little off putting at times. It's not bad. I finished it quickly and was entertained.

Usually, I am a big fan of short romances (novellas or shorter-length novels) but this just missed the mark for me. Some of the wording of things was weird and made me feel kind of uncomfortable reading it. It also felt very bity or patch-work-esque because there were large time skips in the story. It has no flow to it and it made it harder to follow. It also meant you didn't connect with the characters because big parts of their relationship were skipped.
The way sex and relationships were dealt with was also very bizarre. In YA novels it is often that you get the build-up to sex, so you can get more of the emotional connection between the characters. But in this case, that was the part that was skipped and you just got mid-sex thoughts that were very jarring because of the sudden shift from what was just a normal conversation or something. It again meant that you didn't connect with the characters because you didn't get to see the change in their relationship.
The one redeeming feature of this book was that the friendship between Sandy and Allen actually read very genuinely. I don't think it translated to a dating relationship very well but their friendship was rendering and believable.
Overall, not for me because it did make me feel a little uncomfortable in places.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of the rebound by Bruce Lassiter. At first I wasn't so sure if I was going to like it based off of the first couple of chapters but then I got into it. It was an easy read.

I found these characters to be a bit flat. Allan supposedly has dreams of going to the NBA, yet he only has one prospective college scout coming to attend his regional final basketball game. On the other hand, Sandy, who has never played basketball on a team, excels to the point where she beats Allan 1 v 1.
The romance felt genuine, albeit cliche and both characters were cast much older than their senior-selves.

I found neither the story nor the writing particularly engaging unfortunately. I wanted wanted to like it more but this was just average at best.
