Great book, by an author I will read more of! Thrilling plot, great writing and brilliant characters. Highly recommend to others.

The Last Protector by Simon Gervais
Clayton White #1

Action-packed political and military thriller that introduces Clayton White as the main character of a new series. With his military and secret service background he is capable, lethal, bright, and dedicated. I am not sure where his life will lead next as I am not 100% sure he will remain in the same line of work, but it should be interesting if his skills are called into service.

What I liked:
* Clayton: stalwart, strong, lethal, capable, loyal, honest, cares deeply for Veronica
* Veronica: bright, tech savvy, archaeologist, in danger due to app she has developed
* That Clayton and Veronica were friends that became more
* That there is enough truth to make it believable
* The setting(s)
* The action scenes
* That most of the bad guys were taken out
* That the story made me think about a few uncomfortable issues
* Pierre: a spy that saved the day
* Wondering what the next book will be about
* It was an okay introduction to a new series…will see how it goes in book two
* That good eventually triumphed over evil…at least for awhile

What I didn’t like:
* Everything and everyone that I was meant not to like
* The way powerful people could do the things they did and get away with them
* Wondering how many corrupt crooked political and military individuals might actually exist and being doing horrible things in this world
* I had more trouble getting into this book than the previous books and am not sure why

Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, plenty of action and a great storyline! It was definitely a good read! It did have a bit of a cliffhanger, all the important stuff was cleared up but it definitely left the story hanging a bit?! I'm not big on cliffhangers at all but this one wasn't to bad?! I would still recommend this book as it was a really good one! Lol thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

In a crowded field of counter terrorism, action thriller heroes, Simon Gervais has introduced the world to a new hero who has some big scores to settle. The first of hopefully many more installments, Gervais crafts a tale with plenty of suspense and action. The end will leave you waiting impatiently for the next novel. Highly recommended for fans of Mitch Rapp, James Reece, Pike Logan & Matt Drake.

I am a huge fan of Simon Gervais and have read everything he has written. His Mike Walton series is my favorite but Clayton White has a chance to take the lead. The action is topnotch but the characters he develops are multifaceted and flawed. The only bone I have to pick is that I finished it too quickly and have to wait a year for the next book.

I'm a big fan of Simon Gervais and his way of writing. Fast-paced and not too long action packed thrillers with well developed characters. The new series about Clayton White is no exception and it might even be his best book so far. I can't wait to read the next book in the series and I also hope there will be more books about Pierce Hunt in the future. Simon Gervais is one of the best thriller writers out there.

Simon Gervaise has done it again! The Last Protector is the first book in a brand new series about Clayton White. Ex combat rescue officer and now Secret service agent. This is non stop action in a thrilling ride from start to finish. I started reading his Pierce Hunt books a while ago and thought they where great but this new series is even better. It will be very interesting to see where the story will lead us and what parts of betrayal will be vital. Gervaise has created a wonderful character in White and I will follow him closely to read more about his struggles.
