This was a truly wonderful and much-needed book. Through her own experiences, Rachel Lewis in "Unexpecting" shares the heartbreaking realities of grappling with pregnancy loss through miscarriage or stillbirth. Part inspiration, part education, "Unexpecting" fills what feels like a major gap in the market. She validates all of the emotions a person who experiences pregnancy loss may feel: grief, heartache, jealousy, confusion, anger. While some books that tackle this subject feel cold and distant, "Unexpecting" felt like sitting down with a friend. I think it also helps that the book is not overly long. At 250 pages, it feels like just enough space. I've already sent copies of this to friends who experienced miscarriage and will continue to do so. It's just that good.
