In Eight Perfect Hours, two strangers, Noelle and Sam, meet while stuck on the highway in a blizzard. Noelle spends time in Sam’s car because her phone is dying and the charger she has in her car isn’t working. During those, you guessed it, eight hours Noelle and Sam share, they surprisingly have a great time and talk about a wide range of topics. There’s definitely an attraction there.
I absolutely loved the opening and wish more of the book took place during those eight hours. Later on, there were moments between Noelle and Sam that had me genuinely smiling, but I wanted Noelle to snap out of her funk and just get with Sam already.
That said, I still found myself rooting for these two by the end. If you’re in the mood for a cozy romance that leans into destiny and fate, you will probably enjoy this one!

Eight Perfect Hours by Lia Louis is a delightful and heartwarming novel that is a perfect fit for readers who believe in the magic of serendipity and soulmates, and are looking for a lighthearted and emotional romance that explores the themes of fate, grief, and the power of second chances.
This was such a sweet and heartwarming read that I just lost myself in. I loved Noelle and felt for her predicament of having to choose between her family or herself.
The author opens the book with the proverb regarding the invisible red thread. (Are you familiar with it?) It is a beautiful adage that tugs on my heart every time I read it. Legit funny, heartwarming, good use of ain't shit ex to prop up love interest, Noelle is easy to empathize with, fast-paced, great side characters, everything was nicely wrapped up which could be a con if you prefer a few jagged edges left, lil intrigue throughout with a great twist!!
I enjoyed the characters of this book but the ending was almost a little too perfect for me. The story kept me interested though.
Noelle is stuck in her car, in a blizzard, returning from a reunion she hated. She recently broke up with her boyfriend, Ed, and she is still mourning the death of her best friend, Daisy. As he phone loses battery, she is forced to leave her car and ask a fellow stranded person for some charge. Sam happens to be in this car, and they spend the next eight hours in perfect bliss.
As they both return to their "normal" lives, they can't forget about one another. What happened as "chance" might just become a life long love story.
Such a fun book!!!!! I loved the Serendipitous crossing of the paths throughout the book. The whole thing just felt warm and cozy and was one I will highly recommend!!
I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.
I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks NetGalley for the preview!
I really enjoyed this book! The main characters were lovable and interesting. The little hence of intertwined fate throughout their lives me engaged. I loved that Noelle was interested in flowers and used them to brighten up peoples days. The depiction of postpartum mom life was an accurate and Important addition.
This is the kind of romance that every reader looking for that one SIGH as the happily ever after becomes real should read. 8 hours stuck on the side of the road with a PERFECT stranger sounds more like the plot to a murder mystery but it's one of the best starts to a romance I've read for awhile.
Looking at this cover I assumed it took place around Christmas and while the meet-cute does taken place in the snow (albeit in March), the book spans every season. Two strangers who spent 8 hours together and keep running into each other over the next year, is it fate or just a coincidence? This was a run romance that needs to be read with Taylor Swift's Invisible String playing in the background.
I just wanted to give Noelle a hug. The poor girl has gone through a lot. This story was sweet and deep and cozy. I loved how the story came together with the red thread concept.
I was looking forward to reading this book and it was not for me. I could not connect with the characters at all and struggled through the plot. I thought the characters fell flat and the romance was not great.
This book was just sadly not for me! I was hoping for something different but it turned out to be something I was not expecting, which is okay and I'm sure someone else would love it!
Thank you Atria Books and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book.
If you're craving a lighthearted romance akin to a Hallmark movie, this cheery read will surely hit the spot.
The synopsis suggests a tale of two individuals destined to meet repeatedly by "fate," but it's presented in a refreshingly non-superstitious manner, which I greatly appreciate when this trope is executed well. The exploration of heavy themes combined with a beautifully portrayed love story has firmly established this book as a new favorite of mine. It's a compelling read that left a lasting impression.
Eight Perfect Hours was such a cute, sweet read. This wasn't a full on romcom, but more of a finding yourself, the love of your life, and your purpose. Loved it!
Loved it! I love intriguing stories that "could" have happened (and who knows, maybe they did?) but are also so enjoyable that we don't have to bother ourselves with whether or not this is real. (Plus, I talked to my friend over Facebook Messenger for THREE DAYS while she was stranded in a freak blizzard... in ALABAMA, of all places!) I identified with the "what if" factor of the story as it played out, too.
Cute book perfect for a long road trip around the holidays! I would rate this book about 4. Loved the story line and just a happy easy read.
I loved Dear Emmie Blue so I had high expectations for this one. It was cute but didn’t knock my socks off.
I am so glad I read this during the winter! This is a beautifully written story about love and the serendipity of life. I absolutely adore the movie Serendipty so when I read the description for this, I knew that I had to read this book. During a snow storm/blizzard to strangers meet by chance. They know that they will never meet again and they open up in ways that they wouldn't with someone they know. Life has other plans.
This was a great romance story that will pull at your heart strings and make you think about how you would react in the same situation.
