This was absolutely adorable. I loved the excuse to read a bunch of little kiddo arcs while pregnant and I will enjoy picking them up in stores.
I like this focus on smaller creatures. Most animal books look at the big and impressive species. Or at least the weirdest ones. We can forget just how impressive those smaller animals are and the important roles they play in an ecosystem. A cool and engaging read with plenty of little facts to learn.
This is a fun and educational children's books that introduces kids to a variety of little creatures. Each one has a colorful, quirky illustration on the first set of pages and then real photos and detailed into on the next. Recommended.
I read a digital temporary ARC of this book via NetGalley.
Small but Mighty is a nonfiction book about the tiny creatures that play an active role in our environments. From honeybees to millipedes to sharks to microscopic organism, this book provides wonderful illustrations and great short descriptions of the impacts of these creatures.
I love the art in this book; the caricatures and the realistic. The small facts on the creature’s title page and short introduction is nice. As I read, I was trying to see what age group this book might focus on. The writing and vocabulary seem more upper elementary at times with word choice, but the pictures at the end and initial cartoon seem to be directed towards much younger students. I work in a school with high ESL population. Either way, it’s a cute book for parents to read along with their curious kids or for elementary students to use for research.
Thank you Netgalley and Owlkids Books for this ARC. I work more with secondary students, but will gladly suggest this novel to our elementary librarian. I think it would be a great addition to our collection.
