An unconventional and quirky age-gap romance about a forty-something single girl who finds herself balancing multiple marriage offers and dates when she accidentally sends out a mass text with a crazy proposal. An honest and comical look inside dating at an older age. Fresh, fun, and charming!
Annie is a doctor who has always put her career before her dating life. One night in a drunken text she sends out a message proposing marriage to all the single men in her phone. Now Annie, who is perpetually single, is dating multiple men. Not only is her dating life up in arms, but Annie’s friendships are changing. She must deal with her angry friends, her multiple boyfriends, and the cute younger guy now living in her basement.
I felt like this was an honest and realistic approach to what dating is really like sometimes when you’re forty, complicated and hard to manage. When Hammerle brought in the life changes with friends it only added to the authentic feel of this romance. I also adored Dax, the bartender and how Hammerle wove a relationship with multiple men with life changes. This begs to question does marriage need to be about a foundational commitment or chemistry? An entertaining novel with a a satisfying conclusion!
3.5 stars Between a break up and a midlife crisis coming Annie is primed to explode. Add a 24/7 on-call career, a meddling mother and friends who are moving on, she's now hitting her rock bottom and with one drunken text thrown out there that she's looking to get married, her life takes an unusual turn. Rob the childhood friend and Darius the on air news reporter are the two who respond with interest. Already a weird start, but when the hot, young bartender who witnesses her drunk texting is suddenly living in her basement with his loveable dog Joanne, things become way more interesting. Dax never seemed like anything more than hot guy who lives downstairs but soon starts to form a friendship with Annie that confuses us all. Soon an attraction is obvious and a one time deal soon becomes something they need to revisit a few times more.
Though it's a fairly mild and behind closed doors book which I'm not used to there are a few moments of heat, just never enough. Annie was sweet yet totally misguided and up until Dax, the other men didn't appeal to me at all. Her friends were too inconsistent especially Kelly who seemed to be driving the toxic train.
But Dax saved it for me. He had so much more to offer and was just what the doctor needed. Unfortunately her stupid idea could ruin it all in the end. Don't be stupid Annie!!
I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest opinion.
I love a good romantic book, the cover promises lots of men, woo hoo let’s get into it!
Annie feels that life is passing her by, she’s successful, all that’s missing is a man! Darius and Rob are ‘options’, so is bartender Dax, who will win Annie’s heart?
Unfortunately for me, I couldn’t stay focused on the characters, Annie doesn’t gel, it all didn’t sit well. At times I thought we’d get into the meat of the story, then I felt lost! What could have been a fun romp along storyline became flat, I didn’t feel sparks!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and give an honest review.
This one was hard for me. To me, it was hard to like main character at first but I appreciated the growth she experienced. This book definitely shows that you can be successful and think you know a lot but realize you still have so much to learn. Book proves that age ain’t nothing but a number. Constantly learning, find love at any point in life and that things can happen at any moment.
Thank you NetGalley, author Julie Hammerle, and Entangled: Amara publishing for giving me a free arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What would you do if you have been married to your job, but are looking to settle down personal?
Annie has a great career as a concierge doctor to famous people. She is content with her work life and friends. All seems to be going well, but all that is about to change, when one trivia night, her roommate and friend shows up engaged to be married. After heading back to her apartment, feeling drunk and extra emotional, she messages and proposes to all male contacts in her phone for a relationship. When she wakes up the next morning, her phone has blown up with messages from men who are interested to help her out. Who will it be? Her childhood friend and neighbor next door Rob? Local news channel anchor Darius? Or someone else? Like the charismatic bartender living in her basement temporarily?
This was a very realistic and hilarious take on the love life of a successful woman reaching forty. The story line was very original and charming. The writing style allowed for the reader to consume mass amounts of this story without losing interest. It has some amazing characters from various walks of life as well as the full spectrum of personalities will keep the reader entertained. This story had all that is needed to make a great rom com should- it made me laugh and swoon and provided a much needed entertaining time! This was my first book by author Julie Hammerle and it will not be my last. I would recommend this book to those who are looking to find out who Annie chooses at the very end. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
I really wanted to like this one, it was okay but I wasn’t excited reading it. Every character was either too flat or too over the top, sometimes both, which made it difficult to keep reading. It was an adorable premise that I was initially excited to read but I think it just wasn’t for me.
Super cute story about a successful doctor - Annie - who is finally ready to settle down. She has 2 great, "age-appropriate" contendors, but she cna't get the 20-something bar tender out of her head. Can Dr. Annie and musician/bartender Dax survive their major differences in age, lifestyle and wants?
It's Raining Men is a cute story about love, loss and friendship, and determining how to live your best life. It's a super quick, easy read/ Great for a summer read!
It’s Raining Men by Julie Hammerle is a delightful, fun romantic comedy with loads of quirky characters. A fun, fast-paced book that was enjoyable from the very beginning of the book.
This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was funny, cute and charming. It held my interest and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and would read more books by this author.

Annie, a 39 year old, concierge doctor, is always on call. She has worked so hard on her career her whole life, and she will do anything for her clientele. However, this has become a very lonely lifestyle for Annie. When she finds out that her best friend is getting married and didn’t tell her, Annie looks towards the bar and has a few too many tequila shots. The next morning she finds out that she sent a mass text, proposing to all the men on her contact list! When two men actually accept her proposal, Annie thinks that this is her solution to her loneliness and career focused life. But is it? Should she be pragmatic about the man she spends the rest of her life with, or does true love know how to creep in, when you least expect it?
This was the rom-com I needed. Annie was super relatable to me. I loved that she was an "older" protagonist, career driven woman. I could relate to her hyperfocus on work, the impact it can have on one's love life, the feeling of "the last in the group", the drunk texting, even the tequila shots haha.
I loved every second of this book. It was cute; it had it's cliché moments, but I appreciated how real the story felt - ie. how things really do come when you least expect it, or when you already have a plan. But the best part was the end for me. Without spoiling anything, I loved how Annie came to realize that she needed to love herself first - to do things that she loved, focusing on making time for herself and for her family and friends (while still having her career). Once she was able to do that, everything else fell into its "happy ending" place. I loved it.
I can't recommend this book enough for anyone looking for a relatable, real-life, humorous rom-com. Thank you to the author, publishing company and NetGalley for this electronic review copy in exchange for my honest review!
CW: death, cancer, stroke, hospitalization, excessive alcohol use
Thank you to NetGalley and Entagled Publishing LLC for an advanced electronic copy of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Annie is almost 40, and she's frustrated to find herself as the last single woman standing. She lets herself get overserved at the bar, and the next morning, finds that she sent out a text to 39 men in her contacts declaring that she was ready to settle down. She has some replies... but is that what she needs? Or should she keep chasing love?
I knew who Annie was going to end up with before the story really even got going, but it was still a fun journey. I also appreciated that the characters talked about living now because the future isn't promised. This is a love story for those who demand a happily ever after and will wait to see it through.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Entangled for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This book made me laugh. Annie is a concierge doctor (never heard of this before) and I found the entire book interesting. She does some crazy stuff. She sent a group text out to all single male friends, when she was slightly inebriated. OOPs....and the responses begin. LOL Fun book 3.5 stars.
2.5-3 stars
I was intrigued by this book, and really wanted to enjoy it.
However, I just couldn't. And that all came down to Annie, unfortunately.
I liked how career driven she is and that she hasn't ridden any coattails to get there. I really admire her for it.
However, she did come across as a bit 1 dimensional, and like she was always looking at the greener grass on the other side of the fence.
I think that she did have feelings for each of the men, but I also felt that she was using each of them to make herself feel better, and for that, that was a big no from me.
I did like the premise of the story, and I am sure we have all felt a little like we have been left on the shelf at some time in our lives.
I am sure a lot of people will absolutely love this book, but this one and I just didn't really gel.
I thought this was a really fun read. It's kind of a coming-of-age story for thirty-somethings. It's kind of silly, but that's why I read rom-coms. I want crazy scenarios and happy endings and this book delivered. I also liked that it didn't end how I thought it would end. Great summer read for the beach/pool/hiding inside in the AC.
It’s Raining Men by Julie Hammerle is a funny, sweet, steamy story about love, friendship, work/life balance, and happiness.
Imagine drunk texting all the guys in your phone in search of your future husband… That is exactly what Annie Kyle does. Annie is an almost 40 yo concierge doctor at the top of her profession. She’s perfectly happy until she realizes that her friends are all getting married and she’s kind of alone and missing out on life.
Dax is a struggling musician / bartender who happens to form a bond with Annie when she becomes a regular at his bar. And most interestingly, he is on duty when Annie sends her drunk text. Circumstances push them together and although he is younger than her their chemistry is off the charts. They form this epic sort of family while she is “dating” the guys on her list in search of her future husband and life.
I loved reading Annie’s coming of age story and seeing her find a new sense of balance in her life with her family, friends, and eventually love. For a while I was worried for the sake of the happily ever after but was rewarded with something spectacular.
This age gap romance is full of laughs, calamity, new experiences, and some really emotional knockouts.
It's Raining Men by Julie Hammerle was a very realistic and hilarious take on the love life of a successful woman reachinh forty. The story line was unique and captivating. The writing style is eqaully fabulous. It has some amazing characters from various parts of society and the full spectrum of personalities will keep you entertained. It achieved what a great rom com should- it made me laugh and swoon and provided a very good time!
Annie has an enviable career of concierge doctor to celebrity people. She is content with her work and her friends .But she is feeling the time is changing. And she has to find a partner outside work. One drunken trivia night at a local bar when she is feeling extra emotional over personal issues, she messages and propositions to all male contacts in her phone for a relationship. Now it's raining men. Who will it be? Her childhood friend and neighbour next door Rob? Local news channel anchor Darius? Or someone else? Like the charismatic bartender living in her basement temporarily?
So I totally feel one with Annie. And it's a personal bias. I am in the same age group with career and I feel exactly how impossible it is to find a man who is respectful of my career and caring at the same time! Annie wants it all. Like she should. A stable life partner with maturity and understanding. Someone who makes her dizzy with swoon and make her body electrified. Darius and Rob have their pros and cons. And Dax the bartender aka struggling musician is the wild card. Completely unexpected and magical. Annie goes through a difficult journey that was full of laugh out loud moments and also deep self actualization. Happiness finally comes from within. And Annie couldn't find love till she loved herself enough to let go of the less important things in life. It had so many ups and downs. Tough decisions. Overwhelming feels. But that ending was perfect and made sense from every side.
If you had heartbreaks and heartaches in life and still believe in true love, It's Raining Men by Julie Hammerle is for you. It was a real love story with special effects of swoon and laugh that make everything extra beautiful.
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily provided by Entangled Publishing through Netgalley
I picked up Julie Hammerle’s It’s Raining Men based on the fact that I’ve loved her YA novels. Clearly, writing a good YA does not always translate to writing a good adult novel but sometimes it does.
Annie is at a crossroads in her life. She’s been without her best friend and roommate, Kelly for months, but Kelly is expected back and life will go back to normal and Annie won’t feel as lonely as she’s felt for these months. Kelly returns, but the Kelly who returns is not Annie’s close friend but someone else, and someone who is evidently about to be married.
Nearing forty, Annie feels like she is totally alone. She gets drunk, sends a regrettable text to far too many men offering marriage. Two respond. But there’s one not on her radar, a younger bartender/musician who couldn’t be right at all, could he? Annie being the wonderful, or completely naïve woman that she is, invites Dax, a young bartender with a loveable dog, Joanne, to move in with her. And right there I am lost.
So, I gots to tell ya right off the bat that I’m an ageist judgmental poopoo head. Younger men are taboo. You are a cougar. They are verboten. I don’t know who told me that. My granny? Anyway, I’ve never gotten over some pre-ordained notion that older women should not lust after younger men. Until now. I think Julie Hammerle just got me over that notion, 100% completely.
Julie Hammerle nailed this one. I completely understood Annie. She’s all over the place and I understood that. She wants to be everything to everyone. She wants to heal everything. She wants everyone to feel good and better. She wants to be their saving grace. She not only wants to heal body, but she wants to heal soul. She’s a wonderful, flawed character, and I understood and loved her. Completely.
Dax, bartender, musician is the thing of dreams for nerds like me. Centered on his music, kind, sensitive. Argh. Yes!
This book talks sincerely about relationships and marriage. Passion or pragmatism? Living your life to the fullest or settling? Are any relationships devoid of roadblocks? Is there ever an easy way?
Emotions run thick. I will tell you that I absolutely laughed (lots of laughs!) and then cried, and I can’t share with you why I cried because: spoiler.
Also, this book hit home with a dog diagnosis….and heartbreak for me. Argh. 💔
It seems too infrequent now that I tell you that a book designated as a romance is a must read, but, you guys, this one is. It gave me all the feels and intelligently. I love it. It wrangled with all of my emotions. Must read!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Annie is the main character of this story, career-driven, strong, and focus. Romance isn’t something she’s an expert about, but her choices are pretty interesting. The characters are relatable and likable; it’s not hard to connect with them. Some of the dialogues are funny; the story highlights that no one is too old for love. It’s definitely a quick and light read.
okay, I really liked this one. It was hilarious and not very cliche. The relationships between characters (romantic and otherwise) felt real to me. There weren’t very many parts that were like “yea ok that’s not how it happens in real life” to me. As someone who’s a bit skeptical about rom-coms, I thought this one had a lot more substance than I’m used to reading. I’d definitely recommend this rom-com to others when it releases July 26th.
Thank you @entangled_publishing for the advanced readers copy of this book! It’s out already, be sure to pick up your copy ASAP!

Summary: Annie is 40, single, and a concierge doctor. When she learns her best friend Kelly not only has a boyfriend but is engaged to be married, Annie gets drunk and texts every man in her phone book to marry her. Through the absolute mortification of thirty-seven rejections, shockingly, She realizes two men have said yes. Behind Bachelor Door #1 is Rob, my old high school crush: the comfortable, dependable boy-next-door. Behind Bachelor Door #2 is Darius, the exciting, flashy news reporter about to hit it big. Does this mean I’ll have to get out of my yoga pants and actually go on dates now?
Dax, the local bartender who got me into this disaster in the first place—remember the Old Fashioneds?—can’t believe I’ve given up on finding true love. What does a tattooed, broody twentysomething know about carving out a future for yourself, anyway?
Too bad the further into this hot mess I get, the less I know about who I am. And I’m going to have to figure out exactly what I need if I ever want to find a true happily ever after.
