Two childhood best friends living the lives they always dreamed of… sounds perfect right?
Of course, nothing is as perfect as it seems on social media. A great reminder that if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
A great, light read. Exactly what I was hoping for!
I really liked Gwen, being a mom, and the same age (shhh), I could relate to a lot of the issues she was facing. I didn’t relate as much to Iris. I also would have liked more to the ending as it felt rushed.
Overall I enjoyed this book.
Just finished Reasons for Avoiding Friends by Megan Leavell. It's super relatable—about growing apart from old friends and dealing with life’s midlife messiness. Really honest and thoughtful
I really enjoyed this. Iris and Gwen were dimensional and relatable. I loved seeing their lives play out and rooting for their success. It’s a slow, but beautiful read that I think any woman over the age of 25 can start to understand and appreciate.
I really liked reading this one!
I liked the type of writting
Looking forward to reading more from this author.
3.75. It took me a while to connect with the characters but it ended up a good read. I liked the way the 2 fmc reconnected and helped each other. Watching them overcome the hurdles in their lives was empowering and the way their friendship blossomed again was so nice.
I found this book to be very honest and relatable. Iris and Gwen have drifted apart and lead different lives, but when they reunite it becomes apparent that having good people around you is so vital to your confidence and self worth.
This gives Firefly Lane vibes but lacks likeable characters which made it near impossible to be invested in Iris and Gwens journey. The nice thing about this book is that its fast paced enough that I didn't feel like the plot was dragging which made it an easy read.
I really enjoyed this book of two friends with very different lives that found their way back to each other after so long apart. It is a testament to true friendship that they were able to see each other for who they were and support each other through the rough stuff. Great book!
I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.
Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.
However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x
I wanted to read this book for so long. And I'm sorry, but I could not finish this book. The main characters were annoying as f*ck, and I couldn't get the author's narrative or plot.
This one was very meh for me, I thought the plot started off interesting but didn't really hold enough oomph to keep me reeled in. Likable characters don't necessarily equate to a likable book, but in this case I really couldn't get past how much the main characters rubbed me the wrong way. I think this is a case of "good book, just not for me"
A story that is very relatable in many peoples lives. Really enjoyed reading this book. Well written and easy to read and follow. Perfect holiday reading.
Nice easy ready, would enjoy on the beach. Would have been nice if the book was more body positive, it grated a bit.
Sometimes I find it hard to relate to characters in their 30s because I'm only in my 20s but the conversations around the pressures of adulthood really stuck with me. This is a book I'll be recommending continuously
Cute read! Perfect for those who like friendship fiction novels. The only complaint I have is that the MC complained a lot about her weight. Wish there had been more body positivity!
This was a book I grabbed from the “read now” feature which I thought sounded interesting but then couldn’t get into.
Loved this book! So relatable, heartwarming and endearing - shedding so much light on the emotional struggles in friendships we often don't speak about. It resonated with me. If you like reading about relationships, their dynamics, and connections that define us, do pick this up!
Although i wasnt super engrossed with this one i liked the flow and felt it was cute i would recommend people that love cute books to read this one
Gwen and Iris are the two main characters in the novel. Even though as younger girls they were inseparable, life and their diverse backgrounds drew them apart . As adults, their lifestyles couldn't be more different; Iris as a wealthy, sophisticated, and fashionable Upper East Side wife and Gwen as a suburban woman living happily in her hometown.
The dual narrative was definitely a well needed element to the novel, as we gain perspective into their lives ups and downs, but also the rekindling of their relationship. The themes of friendship, self-identity, and love are powerful throughout the novel with the interesting writing being an extra component.
The only setback I could identify in the book was the slow beginning, it could’ve potentially put me off but I really wanted to give it a try. Overall, good characters, moving plot, and relatable writing.
Props to the marketing and Graphic Design team for the beautiful book cover, it's definitely eye catching!
Bravo!
Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. I skimmed thru alot of this book. It wouldn't hold my attention.
