Sincere thanks to Net Galley and publisher for this digital advanced readers copy.
Unfortunately, this was not as enjoyable a read as I had hoped. Filled with generally unlikable female characters, who in turn, don’t like themselves. Because of the constant inner monologue of self-depreciation, I found it hard to connect with, or be invested in, the characters or their outcome(s). Some of the commentary on motherhood and managing a family landed with me, but not much else.
The characters spent a vast majority of the book trying to impress others, not eating carbs, and being disappointed with their lives, and it created a female-against-female undercurrent - something (as a woman) I don’t feel we need.
For me, the friendship felt like a watered down Firefly Lane, but without enough context to build the relationship to present day.
That being said, it was a fast-paced, easy read, with a few chuckle moments, and I’m sure there are a lot of people with who the story would resonate more easily.

Loved this book. I read it in one sitting. A true chick lit book about friends and life. How somethings change and some stay the same.
I received an advance copy of, Reasons for Avoiding Friends, by Megan Leavell. This is a good book about friendship and how reality is not always what it looks to be.
Gwen and Iris were the best of friends, even if they couldn’t have been more different. Now Gwen is living her hometown dream
