This is a great thriller read of an author I haven't read before. There was a lot happening in the book, but it keeps you entertained with an ending you do not expect.

This book was everything I look for in a book. It was so exciting. The plot was fantastic. It really had me on the edge of my seat, and my heart racing. It was very well written and flowed well.

It took me a while to get into this one but I'm glad I stuck with it as it definitely picks up the pace. I was intrigued to see what had happened to the missing girl and Claire too.

This was quite different, difficult to get into
With unlikable characters, all living in the same town, the book became monotonous
I would have liked to shake up all of them or drive them away from town.
Not for me.

Lots of twists and turns, I wasn't sure where to story was going which always make for a good thriller! I really liked the main character and the relationships she develops along the way. Still Mine had a unique way of peeling back the past while keeping the main story line going. Can't wait to read the second book.

Still Mine, is how one Messed up mind is trying to salvage another messed up mind, while staying in a messed up place. So yeah! It's all one big mess. For those who enjoy psychological thrillers, this will be a good pick. I do enjoy psychological thrillers…occasionally. The book is there but not there completely yet. Still Mine, like any typical psychological thrillers, builds up to the story slowly. It painfully picks at the psyche of the characters in the book. It is a slow but tricky process. You take a faster pace and your audience wouldn’t reach the mental point where you want them to. You take it slow and the same thing happens except you might as well have killed the readers even before they reach the mid of the book.

I think that is exactly what happened to me in the book. The pace was a bit slower than what I would have liked. That is the only issue I had with the book along with the tiny fact that the inner monologues and whining of the central characters ate up a lot of story space. You are dealing with a psychological thriller. So naturally, the book will have to deal with the inner demons and workings of the messed mind but the key point is balance. A bit more than the required portion would make it annoying and noisy.

I had a whole lot of issues with the character but then, I guess, that is the whole point of the book ..right? Plus to each reader, the character would be different. It is a pure perspective thing. So let's not get into that. The base story is pretty awesome There is a whole new landscape and I mean literal landscape to explore. There is a whole wide platter of people.

The book gets the vibe of a close-knit mining town to the T. It portrays the picture of each of these unique characters nicely. The only trouble was that our central character talked too much to herself and the pace was a bit slower than usual.

For fans of psychological thrillers, this book can be a good option as you can have a bunch of characters to explore and dive into. I loved the plot and the story it had, to tell. It was dark, twisted and one that played with your mind. The pace maybe has risked it a bit but in all, I would say it was nice.

I enjoyed this thriller, although it did get a bit slow in the middle. Great premise, with fantastic writing. Looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I really wanted to love this book, as much as it was well written it just didn't drag me in like others do.

This book is about people who are missing. The story comes together gradually and it takes a while until the whole picture becomes clear. I liked this book and it kept my interest pretty much all the way through. At times you get the sense of forboding and of being followed that Clare, the main character, feels . All in all a dark read and at times portrays a dismal life where the people of Blackmore have little going for them and resort to drugs and drink.
Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

Still Mine - even the title is mysterious. Does it refer to the mine in Blackmore that blew up, taking a lot of the men in this small town with it? Or does it mean, “You (whoever that is) are still mine (whoever mine is)”?

You have to read this strange book to figure it out. Clare O’Dey (not her real name) goes on a strange mission, sent by a strange man about whom she knows nothing, to find a woman who vanished from the town of Blackmore three weeks prior to the start of the story. There she finds ancient family feuds and a tightly-knit and suspicious community where she sticks out with her camera as the proverbial sore thumb. The story builds like a piece of music to its surprising end and epilogue, neither of which I saw coming.

It took me a while to get into this book but I persevered. It was worth it.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley.

A good story with lots of twists, never quite sure which way things are going to go through out the book.

This was ok, certainly lots of twists and turns but I didn't really love it nor get into the characters who I didn't feel were particularly well developed. Forgettable.

A big thank you to NetGalley for giving a copy of this book.

This is my first book from this Author. From the title of this book I felt this book would be about romance or some sad love story, but I was in for surprise. Clare is our main character (MC) here who is runaway from her abusive martial relationship, somehow she becomes an undercover detective in a small mining town with no experience and along with investigation follows her story.

As the case unfolds of girl who is missing, Clare’s life also unfolds in front of us. Her past of being addicted to drugs, to abusive marriage and how she left everything and ran. The way author had written this book is actually interesting, yes there are some problems that didn’t quiet convinced me of our MC behaviour. Clare is running from a relationship to understand herself to heal basically, yet during investigation she is all over place. She doesn’t seem to think or care of where or with whom she is.

Drugs is a saddest thing to get addicted to, or to not have a will power to rehabilitate. It’s not easy but I fail to comprehend how difficult it would be. Similarly abusive relationship is never right, how can a women give any chance to a person who is violent towards her I fail to understand. Is it pain, love or fear? to be so vulnerable in front of a person who would only destroy you not only physically but mentally, emotionally and yet have no remorse for it, all these questions where arose in me when I read it. I wanted to hold Clare and tell her she would be fine. Amy Stuart really did a great job in writing.

I loved this book, it is one of those books were I can’t put it away.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book. As a fan of twisty thrillers I expected to enjoy this and I did! It kept me engaged throughout and I was keen to see the ending. That said, I think there could have been a bit more depth to the characters. Regardless I enjoyed this and would recommend it!

Thrilling and suspenseful. Will have you suspecting everyone as you try to find out what happened. A great mystery read! Satisfying ending. So many twists as new information was uncovered that kept you guessing and turning the pages. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this story.

My Synopsis:
Clare O’Dey is not her real name. She is running…from her past, from an abusive husband, maybe from herself. She is working for Malcolm Boon, a private detective who finds missing people. He found her, and instead of informing her husband, he offered Clare a job.

Clare is sent to a small defunct mining town in the mountains called Blackmore, where she is supposed to blend in, and find information on a missing woman. Shayna Cunningham has not been seen for two weeks. But Clare is an outsider, and no one wants to tell her anything. She meets Jared who is Shayna’s ex. She meets Sara, a friend. She meets Shayna’s parents, the mother slowly losing her mind, the father with demons of his own. She meets Derek, the doctor who repeatedly tried to get Shayna into rehab. She meets Charlie, the drug-dealing neighbour, who has a grudge against Shayna’s father, who was on duty the night the mine exploded, killing Charlie’s two brothers.

Clare may not be equipped to handle everything that is thrown at her. Her own past too closely resembles the lives of these people, and her own demons threaten to take her down. In the end, her own risky behaviour may bring everything crashing down around her.

My Opinions:
For a debut novel, I thought this was quite good. The writing was smooth, the descriptions good, and the plot was interesting.

Unfortunately, I felt that the story-line progressed rather predictably, and I didn’t actually like any of the characters (other than Malcolm), and that includes Clare. I felt sorry that she was in an abusive relationship, but her drug use and other behaviour did not seem justified. I also question the ability of an outsider to get “in” so fast.

All that being said, the book kept me interested, and it was a very fast read.

I am looking forward to the second book.

I expected to like this book far more than I did. It is very unsettling and a tad bizarre and creepy. I am sure there is an audience out there for this book. It is not me.
