I have to be honest, I struggled to stay invested in this and skim-read it from about the 45% mark. From what I did read, it seems like a solid interesting book but it just wasn't for me.

I think the world-building was very cool and the concept was intriguing it just didn't hold my interest. My biggest issue was the characters primarily the main character- Kiera. I disliked her from the first page and that dislike stayed with me. I couldn't connect with her and I didn't really care about her backstory or her choices or what was going on around her which massively impacted my ability to enjoy this book. I did enjoy Danny though to be fair, and his scenes were little bright spots.

There was plenty of action in this which was good and it was pretty fast-paced which is always nice.

Overall this was an okay read, it just wasn't for me.

When I saw this synopsis I was immediately drawn to this story. As such, I was thrilled when I got an ARC of the story! Unfortunately, I did not love this story as much as I hoped. My primary issue was with the main character, Kiera. While I enjoy characters who grow throughout the story, Kiera remained unlikeable from the beginning to the end. Honestly, I disliked her the more I read, as opposed to liking her more. If she had been better written it would've made the story much easier to enjoy! Because the the world and magic were incredible, unique, and engaging! The discussions of justice and the meanings of order and chaos were well written and well thought-out. I wish I could have enjoyed this story more, but the main character was just incredibly unlikeable and it ruined the story for me.

I love the action in this book. The characters connect well and that always makes the story more enjoyable. I also love that it starts out with an action scene, which reminds me of Adrienne Young's "Sky in the Deep", Well done.

A big thank you to Netgalley for offering a digital copy of this amazing book.

The backdrop of this Novel is based on life much before 20th century. Where order is formed out of chaos by wielding and channeling Pneumos by Legionnaires, who are dead in different eras and brought back in Loren and trained.

Whole Novel rotates around Keira and how she tames chaos within herself and outside world. Keira was brought to Loren after she died in a car accident in a modern world. She is having hard time adjusting in a new era and learning becoming a legion. She is infamous, stubborn and destabilized. I was having hard time liking Keira, as her actions were selfish and nonsensical to the point where she never took account of consequences happening around because of her actions.

As gradually story proceeds Keira’s character grows and understands repercussions of her actions and we learn reasons of her behaviour eventually, but still it was hard for me to form a connection with this character.

I was interested with the idea of Pneumosnancy, it’s little bit like a magic. This book has it all manipulation, deceit, faith, love and war .Despite I didn’t like Keira, book is fabulously written. I was addicted to the story. I am intrigued to see where this series leads to Keira’s character may be I will gradually like her.

Overall I enjoyed this book and looking forward to other parts in this series.

Chaos Looming has an interesting world, it's an underworld of sort for an organization called Legion, where dead people from another world would arrive here and apprentice as Lagionnaires. Their mission is simple, to bring order prevent choas, hence their jobs are that of part mercenary part sherif. But chaos is arising rising around them and Keira has to choose between Legions directives where order overshadows justice, or bring about peace and justice: in a capricious journey to uprise. A clueless heir.

~The story~
It was an adventurous story with little too much info Dumping for my liking which made it a slow read for me (or I just wasn't a fan of the writing style).
However, the story got better halfway through and it was an entertaining read.

~characters ~
We ve a range of characters that turn from foe to friend or the other way around and I like Lamdrimus the best, I loved how his character developed throughout the story.
Keira is the girl with a lot of baggage that reallly affects her relationship with everyone around her, especially her partner Danny. So, literally half the time the two her mad at each other regardless, I didn't really connect with these two.,

All in all, chaos Looming is an entertaining fantasy book with an interestingalbeit atypical supernatural powers involved and a place thats at the brink or ruination.
