Tea is all the rage, and one of the best parts of a proper tea is that there are sandwiches, cakes, tarts, scones, and biscuits to go with your choice of tea. Of course afternoon tea has been served in England for centuries, the Regency series, Bridgerton has made it even more popular. Dahlia Clearwater, who is a baker and fan of Bridgerton, is the author of a delightful and beautiful cookbook, Teatime at Grosvenor Square: An Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of Bridgerton―75 Sinfully Delectable Recipes.

This cookbook includes dozens of mouthwatering dishes that are suitable for serving at tea (or anytime, for that matter). Many of the recipes are traditional tea fare such as cucumber sandwiches and little cakes, and some are a bit unique like Salmon and Avocado Profiteroles. Of course there are recipes for scones, which are a must at any tea, and there is even a recipe for clotted cream to go on the scones as well as jams and very English marmalade. The recipes are written in standard recipe form and are easy to follow. In fact, most of the recipes are quite easy and can be made by almost everyone, with beginner to advanced cooking skills.

The best part of this fun cookbook is the beautiful photographs; these are excellent and will cause most hostesses to make more dishes than planned.
While the recipes may not be authentic Regency recipes, they are certainly some that would have been served at teas through the years, and guests will swoon over the variety of little treats that are served. Whether you plan to invite friends over for tea, or just want to make a few treats to sample, this is a great cookbook to add to your collection.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

What a fun cookbook. I love books like this as I do love to cook. But this is a little different as it talks of the people and places of Bridgerton. Now I have never read or watched this series but I do love that they must love a good tea party. And with the recipes in this book a great tea party is ready to be had.

From sweets to savouries there is something for everyone and the recipes are easy enough and within everyone's reach.

I can't wait to get cooking and think I will love trying out these recipes on my friends and family.

This book is a delight! I'm rating it a 5 star because I love when cookbooks feature easy to follow recipes and easy to get ingredients!

First off I absolutely adored, "Bridgerton" the series and the books. Everything about the Regency time period fascinates me but the delicate and often colourful foods from this era are a real treat. One of my favourite things to do is to go for an afternoon British "high tea" with my friends or family. What I love about this little book is that now I can make some of those scrumptious treats at home by myself.

The book is split into 5 sections; Canapes (I can't wait to try the honeyed fig crostini,) Scones and Spreads (who can resist the proper English Scones,) Teatime Sweets (there's a recipe for the classic cream puffs known as Profiteroles,) Dinner-Party Fare (I just love the mini meat pies recipe,) and Regency Cocktails (The Marriage Market Punch sounds yummy and something I could make for a party.)

If you enjoy this time period and the foods associated with it then I highly recommend this little treasure of a cookbook. There's even an authentic recipe for clotted cream! (otherwise known as Devonshire cream.) Oh yeah!!

Dahlia Clearwater’s Teatime at Grosvenor Square: An Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of Bridgerton—75 Sinfully Delectable Recipes is a good recipe collection which will appeal to both Bridgerton fans and casual foodies alike. I like the recipes but I would have liked more variety and innovation. Moreover, I was disappointed with the stock pictures.

This easy-to-read and short book features chapters on canapés; scones and spreads; teatime sweets; dinner-party fare; and regency cocktails. The book is filled with teatime classics like profiteroles, meat pies, pears poached in spiced wine, classic cucumber sandwiches, and proper English scones. However, there is also more updated fare like cinnamon macarons with brandy buttercream as well as coffee bean blancmange. There are even recipes to help you whip up your own clotted cream, lemon curd, and orange butter from scratch!

The recipes are clearly written and easy-to-follow. Each recipe begins with a little writeup relating the dish to something in the Bridgerton universe or the Regency era. However, some of the connections are very loose and a bit questionable. I do like the little bits of humour that Clearwater injects into her writing.

I like that the book features a range of both easy and complicated time-intensive dishes. There is a great balance between savoury and sweet dishes. The recipes are approachable and the majority require common pantry staples. However, there are a handful of dishes which require specialty ingredients like gooseberries and tartaric acid. Although many of the dishes are made completely from scratch, I appreciate the use of convenience items like puff pastry and boxed cake mix.

While many of the recipes seem scrumptious, they are a little unimaginative. They really do not offer anything new or exciting. I also would have liked to see more drink recipes for teas or coffees. Furthermore, I was very disappointed with the pictures. There really weren’t that many and, moreover, they were stock pictures. Although the pictures are bright and beautiful, I really would’ve liked to see original pictures that related to the show or Regency era.

Teatime at Grosvenor Square is a decent cookbook. Although the recipes are a little basic and the pictures are disappointing, this is a good basic collection to satisfy your teatime cravings.

🍵 🍵 🍵 out of 5 teacups!

Pretty standard tea fare with a few notes that attempt to connect them to the Bridgerton landscape. The recipes seem solid - standard scones, cakes, biscuits, with a few less known treats like flummery and wedding punch.

I think this might be my first ever review of a cookbook, but this book is so much more than that!

As an avid Bridgerton fan, I was excited to be able to get my hands on this cookbook. The recipes are elegant, yet do not require unusual ingredients or Cordon Bleu level skill to execute. The results are beautifully and mouth-wateringly photographed to please the eye AND the palate. The introduction to each recipe includes little tidbits from the show that could easily have been from the pen of Lady Whistledown herself. The recipes and table settings evoke the Regency era in all its splendor and glamour.

Teatime at Grosvenor Square is the perfect companion for the upcoming second season of Bridgerton.

Confession- the front cover drew me in for this book. But feel free to judge this book by its cover, it certainly lived up to my expectations! The food photography throughout the book is gorgeous, each one practically glows, jewel-like, on the page and ensures that you want to try and recreate it in real life- although plenty of the images look like you could reach right through the page and eat them! The recipes run the range from Regency inspired cocktails (Fruit Infused Ratafia and Mulled Wine) to savory meals fit to grace a duke's table (White Soup, Lavender Lamb). I can't wait to try the recipe for Drinking Chocolate and Vanilla Buttercream Cake, and the Rainbow Carrots in Thyme and Sweet Pea and Leek Tartlets look both tasty and easy to make. Recipes here may be based on traditional Regency era foods, but have been updated for additional taste and ease of baking for the modern chef (several recipes fully support buying pre-made pastry instead of doing it yourself while others show you how to make pastry without pulling your hair out).

From Canapes to Cocktails, Cucumber Sandwiches to Clotted Cream, there's something for everyone in this delightful cookbook- whether you are a Bridgerton fan or just enjoy eating like royalty. Get drawn in by the photographs, stay for the Flummery.

Cookbook Review: “Teatime at Grosvenor Square: The Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of Bridgerton” @skyhorsepub@bridgertonnetflix@simonandschuster. Out on June 22!

This cookbook has a collection of English teatime favorites. My all-time favorite is the cucumber sandwich, and my favorite dessert is Victoria sponge cake. I decided to try out the recipe for cucumber sandwiches and it was great.

I found that most of the recipes are clear, straightforward and appropriate for all ranges of skill levels in the kitchen. Some require basic ingredients, while others are a bit more specialized. The types of foods include: scones and pastries, jams/spreads, cakes and pies, cookies, ice creams/pudding type desserts, soups, meat based dishes, and cocktails. There are 75 recipes jammed into this cookbook!

The pictures are so beautiful. They make me wish I could set up some nice spreads! Therefore, they have some great presentation ideas. Almost every recipe gets a corresponding photo so you can see what it would look like.

As for the Bridgerton tie in, it is mostly due to 1) the “English tea time” theme and 2) names or little blurbs added to the dishes. Of course, these are inspired by the time period and the cultural themes. So that’s really where it ties in the most.

Good for a fan of the show or not! If you want to put on a tea party or quaint dinner, or even just an assortment of nice looking treats for a gathering, this is a good choice. ❤️

The pictures of baked good in this book will make your mouth water. The recipes are inspired by the Bridgerton TV show and range from sweet to savoury, and are easy to follow.

I can highly recommend trying the Cinnamon Macarons with Brandy Buttercream and all the Scones. Delicious.

I loved the Netflix show Bridgerton and I love a good tea time so this was a fun book to look over. With that being said, looking at fancy tea books and magazines is literally comfort food for me and as someone who subscribes to Tea Time magazine, there was absolutely nothing new in this cookbook for me. What makes this tea cookbook stand out is the presentation. The pictures are gorgeous and the Bridgerton tie ins are a lot of fun but its not something that I will go out of my way to purchase when it comes out either. Its a great book as a gift book for somebody who loves Bridgerton or a purchase for a fan who wants to get more into tea related items. I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

While I have never seen Bridgerton the food surrounding tea time has always amazed me. That cover is gorgeous and a cookbook with tea time foods made me grab this!

What did I like? I think the author did herself injustice linking this book with a TV show. This book is absolutely beautiful with some amazing recipes and gorgeous photos of English fare food good enough for a Queen! Ever want to know how to make a classic cucumber sandwich? A perfect English scone? You don't have to be a Bridgerton fan to enjoy these recipes! Every recipe had a reference to the show which went over my head.

Would I recommend or buy? I’ve never become that involved in a show to buy a book based on it but buy this one for the recipes. I enjoyed looking at the pictures of the cute finger foods and main dishes. All recipe photos used by permission of Shutterstock.com which was disappointing .

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!

Tea Time at Grosvenor Square is a cookbook themed for fans of the Bridgerton television series on Netflix (also, a book series with slight variations). It includes easy to follow recipes to host your own tea party. The pictures give you ideas on how to prepare your plates. Each recipe has a mini-blurb on top with a nod to the Bridgerton series, but it is not over the top. Very nicely done! The cookbook completes with some recipes for libations. I think it may have been a bit more useful to include some tea recipes, but I guess it is assumed you are just brewing what you like to go along with the snacks. Most of the recipes do claim to have some tie to the Regency era.

Teatime at Grosvenor Square by Dahlia Clearwater is a light-hearted cookbook tangentially related to Netflix's Bridgerton television show. The food photography is stellar. Every photo made my mouth water. Unfortunately for me, the recipes aren't very flexible for restricted diets. They rely heavily on wheat flour, sugar, dairy and eggs, as well as nuts. One gelled dessert recipe called for agar-agar "as a vegetarian substitution", but it's placed next to a recipe that uses gelatin, so the logic for the substitution was unclear. A lot of the recipes, while they look and sound delicious, also seem like a lot of work, in ingredient list, steps required, and prep time involved. And there are some uncommon ingredients called for in some of the recipes (Where does one find cups of gooseberries for sale?).

The connection to Bridgerton is really very loose too--recipes could be named after a character simply because they were the same color as the theme of a ball she hosted, for example. If you are a die-hard Bridgerton fan, this might not have the information and analysis you're seeking. If you enjoy historically inspired cookbooks, this is unlikely to satisfy either, as there's not much focus on keeping recipes historically accurate or even possible. Some of the ingredients called for or recipes suggested were unlikely to be available in England in the time period Bridgerton is set.

If, however, you're a fan of the Great British Bake Off, as well as of Bridgerton, and enjoying taking time to craft decadent dishes for yourself or the other omnivores in your life, this could be a great fit. You can make homemade clotted cream and orange marmalade to your heart's content, serving it with decadent pastries and rich savory dips, before diving into a few rich main course dishes, and washing it all down with a few fancy cocktails. Or you could just do like I do and read for enjoyment of food photography and fancy recipes I'll likely never even try making.

Thank you to #NetGalley and Skyhorse Publishing for sharing a temporary digital #advancedcopy of Teatime at Grosvenor Square with me in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet little cookbook with Regency era recipes for tea with all the trimmings and dinner recipes including the famous White Soup, such as mentioned in Jane Austen’s books. The recipes seem very authentic with a bit of a modern twist here and there, the canapés in particular such as Avocado Mousse Crostini and Salmon Dill Rosettes. Perfect to emulate a Regency era afternoon tea in the 21st century.

Full disclaimer: I have never watched Bridgerton, I’m just a lady who LOVES hosting tea parties. This book was DARLING!!! Most of the references were lost on me (“this dessert puffs up taller than Lady Blank’s hair” or something), but I adored how delicious and simple the recipes were. These were all mostly user-friendly and are great for seasoned hostesses and Bridgerton fanatics who have never set foot in a kitchen but want to have a day of Netflix and tea time. I cannot wait to cook the rest of the way through this lovely book.

I received an ARC from NetGalley, but my opinions are all mine.

This cookbook is a must have for fans of the tv show Bridgerton. The introduction to each dish is worth getting it alone! The magic of the show’s atmosphere is instantly brought to life in each dish and makes you want to whip up a few of these lovelies for your own teatime. The photography is beautiful and the layout for each recipe is perfect. It starts with serving size and follows with an organized list of ingredients and ends with carefully worded step by step instructions. It left no room for questions and lots of room for creativity. This was a delight! Thank you to Dahlia Clearwater for thoughtful writing and Skyhorse Publishing for the arc.

Teatime at Grosvenor Square: An Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of Bridgerton―75 Sinfully Delectable Recipes by Dahlia Clearwater

This charming collection, inspired by the Netflix series based on Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton historical romance novels, offers seventy-five options for entertaining, from sweet treats to meats. The introduction to each recipe makes generic references to characters, settings, plot points, or society rules familiar from the episodes. Several options for scone-making are presented—the classic English scone (fluffy and tall), as well as various modern variations. There are examples of actual Regency fare encountered in Quinn or Jane Austen or Georgette Heyer: ratafia biscuits, flummery, white soup, blanc mange, trifle, orgeat, mulled wine, and meat pie. The cakes live up to the “delectable” description of the title. For main dishes, anyone seeking more solid sustenance will be pleased to find recipes for lamb, duck, turkey, and ham. This would be a welcome addition to any cookbook shelf, even one belonging to the minority of cooks who might be entirely ignorant of Bridgerton world.
