A CHRISTMAS COURTSHIP is the third book in the Berlin Bookmobile Series by Shelley Shepard Gray. Atle is an Amish man who is trying to finally admit his feelings for his long time crush, Sadie Mast. Sadie is a widow with three children and requires Atle’s help building A bedroom for her oldest son, Cale. I have been reading Shelley’s books for years and A CHRISTMAS COURTSHIP is now one of my very favorites by her. I love this series and while you can read each book as a stand alone, take the time to read them all! They are wonderful and heart tugging. Cale is having his own problems and he really likes Hope but because of her bad decisions Cale winds up losing his job.

Shelley Shepard Gray sure knows how to make the reader feel as if they are right there at the kitchen table with these two, with all their troubles and A CHRISTMAS COURTSHIP is exactly that! She made me sad, then the next moment I was smiling and giggling out loud! You can never go wrong with a Shelley Shepard Gray book if you are a fan of the Christian fiction genre. All of her characters feel genuine and relatable and put your emotions on one heck of a roller coaster ride. As you are reading, you will find yourself cheering for all of them, praying they can work out their problems and be happy once again. You will also wonder how much heartache someone can stand before they completely break down and fall apart. Atle needs to learn how to court a woman so he runs to the Book mobile and asks Sarah Anne for her help. She offers him two romance books to read and Atle practically runs out the door without touching the books. Amish men do not read romance books!

A CHRISTMAS COURTSHIP is a heart tugging story filled with patience, loneliness, heartbreak, and love that will hold you hostage until the very last page. Once I started this heartwarming story, it was very hard to put down! I really prayed that Atle would be able to convince Sadie that she was ready to move forward with her feelings for him and that she deserved to be loved and cherished. Shelley Shepard Gray isn’t afraid to write about subjects out of the norm as far as the Christian Fiction genre goes. Oh, as a warning to the reader, keep the tissues handy and do not read the ending in a public place unless you don’t mind crying in front of strangers! I’m so excited to continue catching up on all of Shelley Shepard Gray’s previous books. Now I have to patiently wait for the next book in this wonderful series!

While this is the third book in the series it can be read as a standalone novel. However, the Bookmobile and the librarian, Sarah Anne, are in all the books, and it would be best to start at the beginning and see how Sarah Anne started with the Bookmobile, how her life has changed from the beginning, and how she changes the lives of those who come into her bookmobile.

"I started thinking that it ain't like one can take lessons wooing and such." He looked at her intently. "Have you heard of men going to courting classes or the like?"

I love this series! Sarah Anne is a wonderful librarian who always comes up with the right book for her patrons. Atle's book request is not something that I would think would be found, but of course, Sarah Anne comes up with the perfect book. Unfortunately, Atle is a bit stubborn and it takes him a while to come around to her way of thinking.

"Well, then." He rolled back on his heels. "A book is what I need then. A courting book for middle-aged men. Can you find me something like that?"

Sadie is a single mom raising her three children alone since her abusive husband died. She works hard to provide for her family and comes up with a special Christmas gift for her son Cale. She asks Atle to help with the project and their awkwardness together is so cute. I love what Cale, Viola, and Jason (Sadie's children) add to the story.

She had been driving the bookmobile for a while now and she'd thought she'd seen and heard everything. It turned out she had been very wrong.

Two romances, a novel inside the story, the hope and wonder of Christmas, learning to trust again, leaning on your faith, a bookmobile, and learning to let go are just some of what you will find inside this delightful novel. I turned the page and was so sad the book had ended. Don't get me wrong, it had a good ending, I just wanted more. This is a quick-read with wonderfully developed characters that I would recommend to anyone who loves to read.

Thank you to Net Galley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is an Amish Clean Romance, and this is the third book in the Berlin Bookmobile series. This book is like the Amish Bromance Book Club without a book club. An Older Amish man wants to court a Widow, so he goes to the Bookmobile looking for a How to guide on courtship. He ended up with a romance book to help him figure out how to court. I found this book to be cute and sweet and funny. The Christmas parts was not really big until the end, and I found the Christmas parts to be very cute and funny. The characters where really great, and they felt real and very developed. Great book. I did feel the beginning was a little weird and it took me a little bit to get into the story. I have read the first two books in this book series before picking up this book, so that is not the reason it took me a minute to get into this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Gallery Books) or author (Shelley Shepard Gray) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

"A Christmas Courtship" by Shelley Shepard Gray
A Sweet Contemporary Romance
I loved my time within this story which shares the courage it takes to be vulnerable to another as well as the courage to defend another. The story captured my emotions and tethered me to the evolving story making it nearly impossible to take a break to attend to other every day needs that must acknowledged. I hope you will enjoy your time within this story as much as I did. Happy Reading ! !
NOTE: I requested and received an ARC of this story from the publisher via NetGalley.

Shelley Shephard Gray is one of my favorite authors! A Christmas Courtship was such a wonderful book. It is another engaging story by this fantastic author. With strong, likable characters, and a plot with a few twists and turns and it kept my attention from beginning to the wonderful end. There is not one, but two romances to follow in this book and I loved that aspect. The characters, setting, and events are things that could and do happen in everyday life. This is a must read!

Shelley Shepard Gray writes some of the most heart-warming Amish stories! Atle Petersheim finally gets the chance to court widowed Sadie Mast and I loved watching their romance blossom. I also liked watching the role Sarah Anne Miller, our bookmobile librarian, played in helping bring these two together. Sadie's three children added their own personality & charm to the story. I especially like watching 16-year-old Cale Mast try to figure out his role within the family, life, and his own courtship to long-time crush Hope Overholt.

Gray intertwined each of these lives in special ways and wrote a very charming Christmas themed novel. A bookmobile matchmaker plays central role in all three of these stories that I think readers will fall in love with! I would not hesitate to recommend A Christmas Courtship to anyone.

This story is a sentimental journey of finding love at any age. I vividly remember going to the Bookmobile every summer with anticipation. I selected books that would give me a sense of adventure and joy.

I had to laugh when Atle shuffles into the Bookmobile unsure of what he needs. His mind is on love and how to get a certain someone to notice him. Sarah Ann chooses a book that she thinks will help Atle. A romance book wasn’t exactly what he was looking for but maybe the librarian knows best. You can tell he was a little embarrassed by the book, but I liked how he decided to read it. Who knows, maybe something within the pages will help him.

Sadie sure has her hands full raising three children alone after the passing of her husband. She works very hard making wonderful treats that sell out faster than she can make them. The author does a great job of giving us a glimpse into the marriage Sadie was in. Her husband was mean and at times abusive. I don’t think she realizes how much it affected her children until the youngest starts to act out. This part of the story is very well written and shows the emotional side of abuse. Sadie realizes that she needs to find a way to let go of the past and allow her children to express how they feel about their father.

I have to say that my favorite character is Cale. He is carrying a big burden at the young age of sixteen. Since his father’s passing, he has stepped up to help support his mother and siblings. I admire his humble attitude and how caring he is for others. His infatuation with Hope is sweet since he has liked her forever. There is an incident that causes friction between the two families and I thought Cale handled it with maturity. I especially like how he made Hope feel good about herself.

As Christmas approaches I could feel the excitement as many were thinking of a gift to give to someone special. I held my breath as Hope and Cale exchanged their gifts. The gifts made me cry because they were made with love and held special memories. When it came time for Atle and Sadie to give their gifts to each other, I felt warmth and a new beginning start as their presents were revealed. This is a book that reminds how important it is to forgive so you can be set free from bitterness and pain. This book goes on my 2021 favorite book list for the year.

I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion,

Thank you Galley Books for allowing me to read an ARC of A Christmas Courtship by Shelley Shepard Gray. In return, I was not required to give a positive review.

Fantastic little Christmas story in the Berlin Bookmobile Series. I have loved all of them.

Atle Petersheim is a forty-two year-old bachelor who would love to court the widow, Sadie Mast, who is the mother to three children. Since he had no idea how to woo Sadie, Atle enlist the help of bookmobile librarian, Sarah Ann. Of all things, she suggest reading a romance novel, a very un-Amish thing to do.

Sadie hires Atle to build a bedroom with a new bed for her oldest son for Christmas. With help from Sarah Ann and the Mast children, Atle and Sadie begin to form a closer friendship.

The plot has a few twist and turns, just enough to keep everything interesting.

Join Sadie, Atle, Cale and Hope as their love stories are interwoven..

Pre-order your copy of This is a 5-star read for Christmas.

Shelley Shephard Gray is one of my favorite authors so I know when I pick up one of her books, I will be entertained! A Christmas courtship did not disappoint. It is another engaging story. With strong, likable characters, and a plot with a few twists, the story kept my interest from the beginning to the end. And to make the book even better there is not just one romance but two to follow. Teenagers just testing the waters of love and a widow being courted by a confirmed bachelor who has no idea how to court a lady--both sweet, endearing scenarios. I like the author's style and her honest and redemptive approach to realistic struggles that her characters have. Readers who enjoy Amish romance stories, especially one set during the Christmas season will not want to miss this one.
I was given a complimentary copy of the book from Simon and Schuster Publishing through Netgalley and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

This is so much more than a story set with Christmas as a backdrop!!! It's no secret that I love the Bookmobile series, but this time Sarah Ann is busy being a newlywed so other stories come to the forefront.
I was given an electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. It's a joy to review any book Shelley writes, and this one is a gem. I don't want any spoilers in here but I will say that all holidays, even Christmas, can come with lots of baggage as we humans live our lives. I found this story to be very real and there's so much hope to be found in its' pages. And isn't Hope one of the best parts of the Christmas Story?

Posted on Goodreads, Barnes and Noble, Facebook and will be on Amazon.

We still search for Jesus even without the stars help. Prayer, faith, and a hope in a better future will certainly guide you thru the journey.

The series of Amish books is centered around Sarah Anne Miller now Canon 's bookmobile. Her life has intertwined with the Amish in these heart-warming series. This particular one brought hope in now a Covid world. (the writing is during Covid which the author briefly describes her own story and how this story is an inspiration.) Atle an Amish carpenter by trade as an opportunity to know widowed Sadie Mast and maybe win her heart. Atle has never married, never romanced but always admired Sadie from afar. He goes to the library to pick up a few books on romance. Sadie has hired Atle to put a bedroom in the barn for her 16 year old Cale. He has been rooming with his younger brother and his mother feels that having some space of his own might be helpful in healing his heart with the death of his father and coming of age. Sadie did not have good marriage and the affects on her three children have been difficult. They are trying to have start fresh and learn to forgive the husband/father of his abusive behavior.

With Atle helping Sadie with the room, he also becomes helpful in other areas that have tested their faith. Atle is not man that Sadie's husband was but has turned into a gift that brings healing, hope and faith to the Mast family. Enjoyed getting to know the Mast family and how Atle gently and patiently helped them while God gave him the desires of his own heart. A heartfelt romance.

A special thank you to Gallery Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review

The third book in Gray’s Berlin Bookmobile series, you can read this as a standalone but please don’t. Books one and two are just as delightful as book three.

The story of an older Amish man who has no idea how to court the widow he loves, or how to win over her three children, I found Atle to be charmingly bumbly while Sadie is determined to make it on her own. Throw in a mess with son Cale and his boss’ family and there are a lot of emotions happening. All at Christmas.

Is it possible to learn how to court by reading an English romance? Can a 16 year old know who he wants to court? Love abounds in Berlin and I highly recommend this entire series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

I really enjoy this series and how the Berlin bookmobile is there for the community and their patrons ... and not just to provide books. While part of a series, it can be read as a standalone novel. This book, like the other two in the series, combines well-crafted characters and a heartfelt storyline to draw the reader in. Sarah Ann Miller is a wonderful character, and you can't help but like her. This is a sweet Amish romance set amid the Christmas season, making it a perfect read for the upcoming season.

Sweet Story

Forty-two year old Atle Petersheim has had a crush on Sadie Mast, a widowed mother of three, for some time. The problem is that Atle has no clue whatsoever on how to woo the lovely widow. While visiting the bookmobile, Atle confesses that he needs a book to help him with his wooing. Librarian, Sarah Anne, recommends a romance novel. At first Atle declines the offer, but as he finds it more and more difficult to even speak to Sadie, he returns to the bookmobile and checks out the novel that Sarah Anne had recommended.

The sweet story that unfolds takes us on Atle's journey how he goes about wooing Sadie. It contains messages of faith, hope and love wrapped up in a fun, entertaining and inspirational read that all will enjoy.

A Christmas Courtship continues the Berlin Bookmobile series, this time featuring Amish bachelor Atle who would LIKE to court his long-time crush widow Sadie, but isn't sure HOW to go about the courting process. As he shares his frustrations with bookmobile librarian Sarah Anne, she helps him discover a unique way to learn about courting. Meanwhile, Sadie's teen son Cale is having courting problems of his own. As Sadie (and later Atle), help Cale navigate courting, Atle ALSO learns courting skills. This delightful and heartrending novel kept my interest from beginning to end. FANTASTIC third book in this delightful series by Shelley Shepard Gray. A Christmas Courtship can easily be read as a standalone novel, but I thoroughly recommend the entire series.

A great holiday read from Shelley Shepard Gray. She gives us another book in the Berlin Bookmobile series.

We once again find bookmobile librarian, Sarah Ann Miller, playing a part in helping her readers learn about and find romance. The book gives us not one, but two romances that intertwine through family connections, making it even more interesting. Young love, mid-life love, overcoming the effects of abuse, and holiday action makes this a sweet Amish Christmas romance you will not want to miss adding to your holiday reading.

I love when the Berlin bookmobile provides more than books for its patrons. It may also help people find love in different ways. Shelley Shepherd Gray intertwines humor and trust between two characters..one who is an Amish man who searches the bookmobile for books on courting and the other for an Amish woman who came from an abusive relationship by her deceased husband and has to learn to trust again. The author continues to write the most heartfelt and captivating books that really hold your attention.
