The first part of the book had me hooked! Towards the middle I felt like it was a bit repetitive. I was curious how Taylor Adams was going to get through the other half of the book and keep us invested. One thing happened and I was upset over it, but towards the end it started to pick back up again and the ending was great, and he fixed the part that upset me so everything was fine😂!

Taylor Adams is clearly a police praising, conservative racist. He makes that very clear through the undertones of this book. Adams is a white male and his main characters of this book are Vietnamese twins, and a racist, fatphobic cop. Someone please explain to me how that is ok and how this book is being praised by the public. These facts have strongly influenced my rating. Please see a few quotes below to understand my claims.

In terms of the plot, this book was just 200 pages of a shoot out. If that floats your boat, plus you love the police and want to hear multiple times about how their job is "the hardest in the world," have fun reading.

This was a very highly anticipated book for me as I devoured No Exit by Taylor Adams and it quickly became one of my favorite books. Hairpin Bridge is a very similar concept as the entire book unfolds over the course of one night and we are following a young female perspective as she embarks on a thrilling journey towards justice. Overall, I really enjoyed this thriller. It was exciting and entertaining, however some of the scenes did get a bit repetitive. I would still recommend this book despite this though, because it was a very fast-paced read. The characters were fleshed out and felt real, even if the situations were a bit fantastical. 3.5 stars overall!

I feel like this had really great potential but the separation of the two narrators at time had me confused.

However I really enjoyed the wild ride of twists and edge of your seat suspense. I think I would definitely pick up another of Taylor Adams books because her writing in this was excellent.

Definitely a good fast paced thriller.

So, I requested this book because I do include contemporary books on my summer reading for my high schoolers, and from what I have seen, kids love thrillers. To me, this book was good, but not great. It was very similar in feel to No Exit, which is good because it was fast and fun, but bad because there were also a lot of times when it just felt a bit over the top. I will recommend it to teens who like thrillers, but it won't be required reading.

A book with good points and some not so good points so I will stay in the middle and give it 3 stars. I liked the fact that the whole book basically took place around one conversation on a bridge all the while managing to keep my attention. The plot revolves around the need of a young woman (Lena) to find out what happened with her twin sister on the before mentioned bridge. Good plot idea, but the relationship between them was civil at best so as a a reader you don't really get why Lena is willing to lose her life to find out what happened.
Slowly you get more pieces of the puzzle through different POV's, including her sisters (sort of) but all these POV's and especially when it was supposed to be Lena's sister became very confusing. The writer did an admirable job keeping the storylines clear and working towards a resolution but the further in the book the more unrealistic certain choices/actions became. Overall, not completely what I was expecting but an okay psychological thriller.

wow. what a freaking roller coaster of a book. i read this book in 2 days and i was on the edge of my seat the whole time. i had absolutely no idea what was going to happen when i turned each page and each twist and turn was better than the last. and we have a completely badass heroine in lena. like damn girl!

the only thing i didn’t love was how often the timeline and POV shifted - i had to go back and reread a couple times to remember where i was. but regardless if you’re looking for an action packed completely unputdownable book i highly recommend!

I really liked Lena and her realistic connection with her sister. One of my favourite parts of Hairpin Bridge was Lena navigating her relationship with her sister and her grief, trying to sort out her feelings and hoping to find closure with tracking down the truth to her death.

The suspects of people who could have harmed her sister were few, which left you trying desperately to make a connection or to accept that it was suicide, I felt along for the ride while Lena peeled back the layers of the story.

Hairpin Bridge was a bit of a slow burn with a few too many pages focusing on car chases. The ending left things tied up nicely but didn't blow me away.

I didn't love this as much as "No Exit," but Adams has a unique and interesting way of creating claustrophobia within his writing. This is incredibly fast paced and readable.

I unfortunately was not as much of a fan of Hairpin Bridge as I wanted to be. I was intrigued by the summary, and of course because I very much enjoyed Taylor Adams' last book No Exit. Hairpin Bridge did have some of the same positive notes; it was a compulsively quick read, and I was surprised over and over again by each twist in the story. However, I think I had more complaints than positive notes.

My biggest complaint is that there were a lot of things that unfortunately didn't add up for me. I don't understand why Lena would try so hard to uncover the truth of Cambry's death when the story consistently says how they weren't close at all. I usually like multiple points of view, but there were times when I definitely felt like there were things Lena knew, and I have no idea how she came to know them. Parts like this were really frustrating to me, because it made the story feel implausible, and like it didn't make sense. Of course, I know some parts were done for action, and they did make the story more intriguing, I just couldn't get past it. A story doesn't have to be completely realistic of course, but there was too much in this case for me to overlook. I felt like there were too many twists and too much going on, and parts of the ending weren't great for me because it felt too trying, and like it was tied up a little too neatly. I can't go into detail because I definitely don't want to spoil anything, I just overall felt frustrated at times with the story and how it all came together.

2.75 Hearts I had really hoped for more with this story. The concept was interesting but it just didn’t have the oomph I hoped for.

The story is told in the POV of both sisters but that was a bit confusing for me. The writing didn’t seem to have the change most writers have when they tell different POVs.

I never connected with the sisters. I continued reading it to find out what happened but was hardly overwhelmed with it.

The car chase in the beginning was so thrilling and it immediately drew me in but in my opinion, the author spent too much time on the car chase.
As much as I liked the plot in this book, I found some parts very repetitive. I wanted to get to the action scenes and skim through the overly descriptive dialogue, specially the ones between Lena and Raycevic.
I was engaged enough to find out if Raycevic was genuinely trying to save Cambry’s life or if he was involved in her death but by the time I got to the twist, I had lost interest in the characters.
This book started off strong but it lost steam in the middle. I was expecting a lot more suspense after having read No Exit.

I read Hairpin Bridge while on vacation last week and I gotta say I really liked it. I might be guilty of ‘sushing’ my children when they tried to ask me questions while I was reading.
It was a great story, fast paced and told with alternating points of view. Loved the identical twin aspect and hearing from both of them, even though one of them was dead. Their were a few things I wasn’t able to figure out, like why the plastic man had an ancient for Lena but not for Cambry.
Overall had a great time reading this book. I heard great things about it and I was pleased the story didn’t disappoint.

Really enjoyed this one!!! Fast paced and exciting, with a strong heroine in Lena. Definitely recommend!

Lena's sister Cambry is found dead of a jump off of Hairpin Bridge. Lena will not accept that her sister committed suicide and begins her own investigation with the officer who found Cambry's body to uncover the truth.

Is Officer Raycevic being honest or is he hiding something? Does Lena really know her sister and could she be wrong. It is not until the final chapters that will uncover the shocking truth to this mystery.

This is a tense thriller with a few shocking surprises that will keep the reader ehthralled.

Taylor Adams is brilliant! He is one of my most favorite authors and an auto purchase for me. This one didn’t sit as well as the others. A bunch of different points weren’t believable for me and I had a hard time with that.
The writing is perfection as always, I just think this story wasn’t for me. I enjoyed reading and will order this authors next book without even reading the synopsis.

I’ve seen some pretty mixed reviews about this one but I really enjoyed it!! I loved No Exit so it was a no brainer that I had to pick this one up as soon as I could get my hands on it. This book was loaded with suspense & I couldn’t get myself to put it down. There were several different POV’s and at times I found myself getting a little confused but it wasn’t anything too bad. I definitely didn’t see the ending coming and I liked that the story was full of so many twists and turns.

Three months ago, Lena’s twin sister was found dead below Hairpin Bridge in Montana. The official ruling was suicide but Lena doesn’t believe her sister jumped voluntarily. Now she’s going to prove it by confronting the police officer who found her.

Hairpin Bridge hits the ground running. Taking place in just one day, it races along at breakneck speed and never slows down. The first half of the book grabbed my attention but as the story progressed there were several different threads that diminished the plot for me. The addition of Plastic Man was a little over the top, the back and forth between past and present was not always a smooth transition, and the level of violence and gore as well as the amount and length of the car chases and gun fights, was a bit off-putting as well. But, even so, I found myself interested in how the story ends, so it did hold my attention.
