I thought No Exit was better! I had higher hopes for this one going into it! It just fell flat for me! I'm hoping the next taylor adams book is better!
I loved no exit so I was really excited when I got this one. It was so good. Kept me going and wanting to know what was happening
I was super excited to get into this book, but unfortunately it wasn’t as good as I anticipated. I love when thrillers make my heart race as I’m reading. This book definitely did that for me, but not until the last 1/4 of it.
The idea of the plot really intrigued me. There was a lot of information to keep straight and I definitely had to stop and process everything a few times. Bouncing back and forth between POV’s and past and present was a lot to follow. The details in this book were very intricate and I loved that aspect.
There was no lack of twists and turns in this book. Some shocked me! Some didn’t feel like the fit the story well. This definitely wasn’t a favorite of mine but I am glad I read it. I would still recommend it to others!
Synopsis: Three months ago, Lena’s estranged twin sister drove to a remote bridge in Montana, exited her car, and jumped two hundred feet to her death. She left behind a vague suicide note and no answers.
Lena suspects murder. Armed with an audio recorder, she travels to that very bridge to interview the highway patrolman who allegedly discovered her sister's body – and catch him in an incriminating lie. But as her twin's fateful last hours come into focus, Lena's search for the truth turns into a harrowing, tooth-and-nail fight for her own survival – and one that will test everything she thought she knew about her sister.
She wants the truth. Even if it costs her life.
I so enjoyed this book and could not put it down. This was a high octane thriller, which never let up. Both Lena and her sister who tough cookies, but Lena is one of the most bad ass female characters. I was cheering for her time after time, and had faith through out she would prevail. She came prepared and with a mission. I can't wait to read Taylor Adams's next book. This is a 5 star thriller for me!
I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for an honest review.
This book was honestly just not for me. I did not finish it and it really just left a weird feeling within me. I’ll pick up another book by Taylor Adam’s still because I loved no exit, but this one just fell flat for me.
Two words which describe Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams perfectly - racy and chilling. The book begins with Lena going to visit the policeman who investigated her twin sister's death and he takes her to the place, where her sister committed suicide, on her request. The rest of the story just follows Lena, her sister, the police man and another surprise character. The story alternates between Lena, who is trying many ways to find exactly what happened to her sister, and her sister, when she was fleeing for her life 3 months earlier.
The story hits the ground running and it is chilling, sometimes scary and almost all the time racy. The author begins the story with as little background information as possible and treats the reader to as many twists, turns, surprises and horror as possible as the story unfolds. But the characters lacked depth and there were certain instances where the story just didn't feel real nor was it relatable. The book warrants 4 stars for me.
I have gotten this book from Joffe Books and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review and all the views expressed in this review are my own.
This was truly one edge of your seat read! Every single time I read a different POV it changed my guessing game. I have read great things about his past novel No exit and I definitely want to read it now. The ending, my gosh, I absolutely loved it. It was exactly what I was wishing and hoping for.
Lena doesn't believe that her twin sister committed suicide by jumping off Hairpin Bridge. She is on a mission to find answers to what really happened to her sister.
This story is told with multiple points of view. I did at times find that I had to really stop and think about who was speaking since I listened to this through audio. I really enjoyed the thriller aspect of this story. I do think it would have been more intense if I had been reading it. The twists and turns throughout did keep me guessing.
I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys mystery thrillers.
Again full disclosure is that I absolutely loved No Exit. I was so stressed out reading that one and while more gory than most books I read, I still gave it a solid 5 stars because I had no clue what was going on half the time. This one,. while still a pulse pounding thriller, left me in a more confused state. I really did enjoy the book and thought the story was a compelling one that kept me reading but man there were lots of jumps backwards and forward.
I did audio and ebook on this one and by the end was mostly with ebook because I just couldn't keep up otherwise. I obviously loved Lena character. I just love a smart, female protagonist, that isn't the stereotypical damsel in distress who has no idea what to do next. Lena was smart, she had a plan, she knew what to do and how to get out of the mess she was in.
4 big stars from me. If I had less confusion and maybe a little less crazy ending, I would have gone 5 stars. Maybe.
When Lena is told that her sister took her own life jumping off of a bridge, she isn't buying it. Lena takes the situation into her own hands and confronts the police officer who is specifically named in her sister's final text. 👀🌉🚓
This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year! I absolutely devoured No Exit, so I was beyond excited for Hairpin Bridge. While Hairpin Bridge had its moments, I cannot say that it hooked me quite as much and I think it was a bit repetitive in places, but overall it keeps you guessing! While I probably set my expectations too high after loving No Exit, I did enjoy this book. ⭐⭐⭐

I've heard the pacing of many books described "breakneck" pacing. But I've never really experienced it. Until I read this book. This was the fastest pace book that I have ever read. Picking up this book is like getting into a car with Taylor Adams and as soon as you start reading he speeds away at 100 miles an hour and never stops until the end. It was amazing. And I LOVED the ending.
A fast-paced thrill of a book that I finished in one sitting. Loved No Exit, and this book was another suspenseful ride.
Lena's sister, Cambry, is found dead after supposedly committing suicide off Hairpin Bridge. Lena has some questions about her final hours though, and drives to Montana to confront the officer who found her.
What follows is a story told from multiple points of view. Lena, her blog post to her "readers" and the story of what she thinks actually happened to her sister. In the timeframe of a couple of hours, Lena learns what really happened to her sister as well as much more about the officer and his family than she ever wanted to know.
Fantastic thriller!
Hairpin Bridge
Taylor Adams
Cambry Nguyen drove to a remote bridge in Montana to jump 200 feet to her death. Her twin sister Lena is not buying it especially that she knows that Cambry called 911 at least sixteen times in a dead zone area where her cell phone could not connect.
This read was incredibly exciting and heart pounding read that I enjoyed. The chapter endings will only make you want to turn those pages to find out what happens next. I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. This is my first Taylor Adams book and certainly not my last,. I am now a fan and off to read NO EXIT now.
I highly recommend this book for a fantastic thriller read.
Whilst this didn’t have the “read in one sitting” of the precious book, it was an enjoyable read with a few twists and turns.
After I read No Exit, I was excited about Hairpin Bridge. I really enjoyed this book. It was very suspenseful and enjoyed the one night setting.
Can you think of an author that just doesn't work for you? I think this author is that for me, as this is the second miss book in my opinion. I know I have a very unpopular opinion on No Exit, and now this book, but the style just doesn't do it for me.
I will say that this one was much better than No Exit, while I found myself saying "are you serious?" a few times, it wasn't nearly comparable to the amount of times I wanted to face palm while reading No Exit. The first half of this book kept my interest, creating great anticipation of what was to come and to find out what happens to Cambry, but when it all starts to unravel was when it really lost me. I cannot get on board with a killer named The Plastic Man. Just ridiculous. This book did keep my heart racing, but it really lost me when it felt like the ball was dropped and unravelled frantically instead of neatly laid out. There were too many characters, ideas and situations to keep track of as the book progressed and it really lost me. This entire book takes place across one insane day, but the constant flashbacks to fill in the blanks really felt like a bit of whiplash to be honest.
I LOVED No Exit when I read it. And this was one of my most anticipated books for this year because I loved the other book so much. However, after being disappointed by The Maidens which was another of my most anticipated, I went into this with a bit of hesitation. I’m glad I ended up enjoying it.
I did have some issues with this book, but they were minor. Overall, this was fast paced, action-packed and page turning. I was hooked from the first page and needed to know what happened. I didn’t find that there were any jaw dropping revelations or shocking twists, but it was still well written, enjoyable and interesting.
It was not as good as No Exit, but I did enjoy it and recommend it. This is also one of those thrillers that would make an amazing movie. The tense action, strong female lead and unsettling setting would play out wonderfully on the big screen.
This is a solid 4 star thriller for me.
Hairpin Bridge was fast-paced and had me turning pages to find out what happened, but the gore was really off-putting. I also have a tough time with such violence towards women and children. Yikes. I'm giving 4 stars for the fast-paced storyline but I had a hard time with this one.
Many thanks to Joffe Books and Netgalley for the ecopy.
Originally, I was unsure if I wanted to read this book. The first chapter was a bit boring and didn’t catch my attention, and then… I couldn’t put it down!
I found some parts very gruesome and some a bit draggy but overall this was a really good read and would make an excellent film.
Lena Nguyen is investigating the supposed suicide of her twin sister Cambry. Somethings about her death just don’t add up, so Lena gets in contact with the policeman who discovered her sisters body, and things start to quickly unwind.
Really enjoyed this twisting and turning thriller. This follows Lena who is on a mission to uncover the truth about her twins sister's death. Well written, suspenseful. Definitely a page turner! Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC for an honest review. 4 Stars
