You guys I loved No Exit. Like legit one of my favorite thrillers ever.
This one I think could have been good. But I didn't get far enough to find out. I DNF at 35%.
I was already hesitant because it's yet another white male writing as a woman but then add on top that he is writing as an Asian woman and I really didn't like it.
But I decide to give it a go. And I think most of what I read it would have fit better as a YA but that may change.
But where I decided I was going to just not finish the book is when the cop says, referring to his wife, " He hated looking at her. Everytime he saw her, he swore he saw five new pounds of blubber jiggling on her upper arms or under her chin. So, best not to look at her."
So yeah I am good on this one. You can get your point across that some is bad without fat shaming.
Action-packed throughout! That is one thing I truly liked about this book was the intensity from start to finish. The story takes place in a short period of time which I really enjoyed, but I didn't love how many POVs there were. Not my favourite thriller but enough action to keep me interested
I had been seeing this everywhere and was thrilled to win this ARC! Nothing makes me happier than a good thriller and this one has it all - a missing sister, some paranormal activity and a whole lot of suspense. Kept me hooked from start to finish with some twists I did not see coming!
I love everything Taylor Adam writes and will be looking forward to the next one. Recommending this fab book to everyone!
A fast paced, tense read that I finished in one sitting. I finished it and wondered what the heck I had just read! I literally couldn’t put it down but when I was done, I was wondering how it kept me engaged that entire time. It’s fast paced and suspenseful but the entire book takes place on a bridge. Chalk it up to good writing, because it totally sucked me in. The plot left some things to be desired though. My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.
I've read No Exit by the same author and if I recall correctly, flew through it. This book was more slow paced. The premise is interesting, with a pair of twins who are very much the opposite personalities, and one apparently dies of suicide unexpectedly. The story begins with the living twin, Lena, trying to try to figure out what really happened to her sister. She hatches a plan to meet at the spot of the suicide, the officer who wrote the report of her sister's death. Lena is a podcaster and is looking into her sister Cambry's apparent suicide through the format of her podcast. To me, the interaction between current day and the past story of Cambry's last hour was somewhat disjointed. This made the book read a bit slower than the prior book. I liked some of the story's twists, although some seemed predictable.
So, overall, this book was good but not my favorite. The pacing of it was difficult at times. Despite any negatives, I would still recommend it for certain readers. It was entertaining.

Not my favorite. I loved No Exit and was excited for a new Taylor Adam’s but this was not it. Too slow and predictable
I enjoyed No Exit. I enjoyed Hairpin Bridge less. Hairpin Bridge gives you a lot of car chases and gun fights, I am not typically here for that. I need more character development before the bad guys start chasing people and begin shooting their guns. I liked the premise and got the character development I was looking for later in the book, but by then it was just a bit too late. I had felt too confused and too detached for too long. If you like car chases and gun fights like my @em_pinnow then grab this book! If not, then maybe pass on this one.
I thought this one was good. A little repetitive at times— but still good.
I seem to have a knack for Taylor Adam’s writing because while a lot of people who read and reviews this book didn’t like the format and POVs this story was told, I actually really loved it. It was my favorite part of this story.
Taylor Adams does not disappoint. This book kept me intrigued from the start. As soon as I thought I had it figured out something else would make me change my mind.
One of my most anticipated reads this year and I ended up being very disappointed. It felt like it drug on and I felt the need to rush to just get the book over and done with. I didn’t like the main character either and that usually does not happen! I felt like the author was trying too hard for her to be “cool” and it really annoyed me.
Lena Nguyen’s twin sister, Cambry, drives to a remote bridge in a small town and jumps herself to death. That is the official police version. Lena is not buying it. Three months after, she is determine to find out what really happened and set to meet the police, Corporal Raymond Raycevic, who discovered her sister’s body. Somehow his story doesn’t seem to add up. Lena is out to seek the truth regardless of how things will turn out and fight for her survival.
This is more of a thriller than mystery read. There are twists but they are not shocking revelations as this is a bit predictable. The story line is simple with most setting done in the bridge. I like the intensity and action packed it gives you while reading. I imagine this might be a good action movie with gun-toting-shoot-everywhere type.
I alternate reading and listening to audio and there are times I get confused with the switching POVs and always checking whose parts are on. I haven’t read the first book, No Exit, by the author, which they seem to compare to this one. I might get and read that one.
Overall, this is quick, high action read. If you are into fast-paced action movies, you will enjoy this one. Thank you NetGalley for the e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first Taylor Adam’s book and boy did the hairs on arms stand up as I was reading it. It was twisty, engaging, and binge worthy. I enjoyed the fact that there was a limited number of characters and it was easy to keep track of who was who, and yet I was still guessing as to who did it, why and how. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book.
I just finished HAIRPIN BRIDGE by Taylor Adams. I had an advanced copy of this one, thanks to @Netgalley and William Morrow Publishing. This book is now released though.
Rating: 4/5✨
Lena’s twin Canbry died by apparent suicide off Hairpin Bridge. Lena is convinced though, that her twin wouldn’t have committed suicide and sets out to get the story and revenge.
This story is addicting. I (mostly) couldn’t put it down. The first half was great and I was just crossing my fingers it wouldn’t go south on me.
Unfortunately, there were a few things I didn’t like. One, the gunfight. This gunfight, my friends, lasts literally the entire second half. Just like any silly action movie, it turned this book from realistic to a little kitschy. Not to mention, who really wants to read hundreds of pages outlining a gd gunfight? Not me. Lol.
Also, I read this one half on my Kindle and half on audiobook. The audiobook narration was confusing. There were two completely different narrators for the same character.
The ending was…okay? Satisfying enough, but slightly unrealistic, but I guess it fits with the rest of the book.
All in all, I like Taylor Adam’s urgent pacing. I was craving a book like this for a long time. If you liked NO EXIT, you should try this one too, but NO EXIT was a bit more fun IMO. The gunfight ruined this one for me. 😂
I usually always try to point out something good in every book even if I didn't love the book. However, I thought this book was very repetitive! It just went on and on and honestly I was waiting for it to end. Just wasn't for me! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read for free in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Taylor Adams for this E-ARC in exchange for my honest feedback and review.
Lena's twin sister is dead. Believed to have jumped from a bridge nicknamed "Hairpin Bridge" and "Suicide Bridge". Lena feels there is something amiss and that her sister Cambry wouldn't have committed suicide. She is determined to find the truth about Cambry's last minutes.
Taylor Adams never disappoints!! This was a twisting intense read. Definitely a page turner. I could not wait to find out what happened next.
Is it possible to rate this more than 5 stars?! Because it definitely is worth more than that. This book is very well-put and thought out and Taylor Adams did it again! I have No Exit on my shelf as we speak and after reading Hairpin Bridge - I wanted more Taylor Adams. Thank you so much for such an amazing read. The story itself was in-depth and complex with many spirally turns and twists that takes you on a terrifying suspenseful ride. Truly enjoyed it!
Not sure about this one. A twin commits suicidrt,or does she . Her twin tries to reconstruct her last movements, more on instinct than fact. She confronts her main suspect but it's not as straightforward as she expects.
For the first 20% of Hairpin Bridge, I was hooked and so intrigued with this story. It was a chilling setting -- open road, young woman traveling alone, dangerous road, etc. At about the 50% point, the chapters felt long and a particular gunfighting scene was far too detailed for my liking. I definitely had to suspend disbelief and just enjoy the story. Overall, I liked it.
I highly recommend this fast paced thriller. by the author of No Exit.
In this book, Lena travels to Hairpin Bridge with the officer who found her twin sister’s body after she apparently jumped to her death. Lena is determined to figure out what caused her death as she is convinced her sister would never commit suicide. What happens next is an action packed story with twists and turns leading to a shocking ending.
A fast-paced thriller with a tantalizing build in suspense but without a surprise ending. With my adrenaline flowing, I'm not sure what I expected. It kept me interested and held me enough to want to finish it. Lena's sister, Cambry, was found dead after jumping from Hairpin Bridge with a suicide note found nearby. An incomplete text never sent from Camby's phone incriminated someone else may be involved. Cambry had also attempted to call 911 sixteen times. Lena vowed to find justice while writing about it in her blog. Her thoughts and every move in her investigation are displayed for everyone to read that a police officer who found her sister was to blame for her death. He was the last person to see her on that quiet abandoned road. Officer Raycevic agreed to meet Lena at Hairpin Bridge to interview him about her death. Events begin to spiral out of control becoming a mind-bending day of terror for Lena. Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins publishers for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
