This incredible read is about a girl that has lost her sibling and is trying to figure out what actually happened. Throughout the book she keeps questioning the police. When she finds out what happened she’s shocked and this book really makes you understand what it is like to lose a loved one and the need to know the truth.
I really enjoyed this book from the beginning. It was a book that I just wanted to find out what actually happened. It will keep you rooted to the chair and blow you away with the tale the author weaves.
I would give this 4 stars.
Another exciting thriller from Taylor Adams! I received an e-arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. In this novel, Lena Nguyen goes in search of answers to her twin Cambry’s supposed suicide. Lena confronts the officer who was the last to interact with her sister on the bridge where the incident occurred. The story picks up here and has twists and turns and nonstop action as Lena uncovers the truth behind this cover up. A very exciting and exhilarating read! If you liked No Exit, you will also enjoy Hairpin Bridge!
Having read the superb action-packed thriller NO EXIT by this author, I was immensely excited for this one! But sadly, it did not meet my expectations. Ugh it could have been So.Much.Better!
This book retains the same heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat action now combined with an emotional touch. The story alternates between several timelines and characters. The first half is really boring and contains *excessive* information about ammunitions and car chases. After reading those scenes, I actually got distracted from the story and was like, "Oh where was I?"
However, the story takes up an incredible pace after about 50%. Your mind will be buzzing with questions and you won't be able to put it down. My nerves were literally dancing with excitement while reading the action scenes 👀
If you're a sucker at remembering many characters and you prefer books with limited characters, pick this one up because it has got only 4 characters. Yes. Only 4. So you don't have to remember too many names 😝
Also, the entire book is centred around only one location, and you can guess where.
Some of the scenes were so unrealistic that I was tired of rolling my eyes. 👀 Ugh, such unrealistic things don't even happen in films.
You'll be so frustrated with all the errors that the protagonist makes! So dumb -_-
Omg! This book was amazing. I could not put it down once I started it. Lena and cambry were twins. Until one commits suicide on hairpin bridge. Or did she? This book has so many twists and turns you will be guessing till the very end!!!!
Thank you Netgalley for a free advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I truly loved "No Exit" but this was sadly a miss for me. The beginning of the plot dragged on for far too long. When I was 60% of the way through, the plot thickened and began to speed up. Also, the main character was very unlikable. I wanted to love this novel, but it did not live up to my expectations.
It felt like Adams was trying to outdo No Exit by creating an even more convoluted story with a weird ass car chase and a shoot out. The car chase part was a snooze fest, and the shoot out was just thoroughly unbelievable. There was just a lot of I don’t even know what going on. The bad guy was a twin too? Just unnecessary.
I feel like it would translate better as a movie, like in movie form I think this would be so much more entertaining, but in book form it was just trying too hard.
There were some great details and plot points but some were extraneous or just meh and didn’t add to the story.
This is one of those books that I wanted to love because I really liked “No Exit”, but unfortunately this one just didn’t have the same impact on me. I felt like the first half really started off great. A suspicious suicide. A possibly shady cop. And a sister willing to do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of it. I was hooked. But then the second half, despite all of the action, fell flat for me. It seemed to just drag on and on. I feel like if this were depicted as a movie it would be great, but the scene descriptions got confusing and it was hard to picture how things were playing out in my mind. I also found myself getting confused because of the way it was formatted. There were times it was hard to tell who was talking during the “Cambry’s Story” parts. Despite not loving this one, I still look forward to reading more by Adams in the future.
My Review:⭐️⭐⭐.5/ 5 stars
As a fan of Taylor Adam’s other book, No Exit, I was excited about this follow up novel with a kick ass Vietnamese woman as the lead character. Being Vietnamese myself, I love seeing more representation in books. Lena Nguyen’s twin sister, Cambry, commits suicide by leaping off of Hairpin Bridge in Montana. Lena has always thought that was quite out of character for her sister. She travels to Montana 3 months later to interview the officer who had pulled over Cambry an hour before her death and then conveniently found her body the next day. Another suspicious finding is that Cambry's last text message to Lena contained Officer Raycevic’s name. Lena is determined to find what really happened to her sister and find revenge/justice.
Adams never disappoints as this is such a gripping, fast paced thriller. I easily read this in 1 day. As much as I loved that Lena is Vietnamese - that’s all there is to it. Her name could have been Jenny Smith - and it would not have made a difference. Also, it may just be me but Cambry is such a unique name for a Vietnamese woman that I would have loved a bit of a background on that. I found the format confusing, not sure if the POV was really Cambry’s mind or Lena’s - and the ending was predictable, but still exciting to finally find out for sure. I look forward to Adams’ next thriller!

Thank you so much to Joffee Books & NetGalley for a free electronic ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This will be a short review (for now) as it’s late, but I’ve just, just, just finished this book and I have some thoughts. I’ll try to have a full and more coherent review up on my blog sometime tomorrow.
I’ll start off by saying that I was extremely hesitant to start Hairpin Bridge because I had seen A LOT of mixed reviews for it. However, I actually really enjoyed it (and this is why I like to go into books completely blind!!). Yes, as other readers have said, the first 40-45% of the book is a bit repetitive, but around the halfway mark the storyline shifts a bit and I found that I was super invested in seeing how it would all play out. I also found that it was a quick read for a book that is as repetitive as it is.
Hairpin Bridge is about twin sisters: Cambry, who has supposedly committed suicide by jumping off a bridge, and Lena, who doesn’t believe that Cambry would kill herself and is dead set on finding out the truth behind her sister’s death.
This book is action-packed and filled with so many twists and curveballs that I couldn’t even keep track of them all. I’d no sooner react to one and another twist would come out of nowhere. It definitely makes for a thrilling read and would make for an even better movie!
⚠️ If you want to avoid spoilers, skip this part:
I’ve also noticed that Taylor Adams likes to use the same trope (or maybe not a trope—but a “something”) in a book over and over again. In No Exit it was definitely that bathroom window… in Hairpin Bridge it is definitely people surviving by the skin of their teeth, over and over and over again. I don’t really know how I feel about that.
I’m sure I’ll have some more thoughts to add tomorrow, but overall, I did really enjoy it!
I read No Exit earlier this year and it instantly became a new favorite of mine so needless to say I was excited for Adams’s next novel. This one is a bit of a slower burn but it’s still easy to get hooked within the first few chapters. It has similar themes as No Exit as it is a fast past, intense roller coaster ride with lots of twists. I did think the last few chapters dragged out a bit, but it did pay off in the end. Overall I was happy with this follow up to such a stand out novel like No Exit and will definitely be picking up this authors next work.
When her twin sister died in an alleged suicide by jumping off Hairpin Bridge, Lena's life fell apart. She is 💯 certain that Cambry did not kill herself and is determined to prove that. Lena retraced Cambry's step to the last places Cambry went go and confront the man she's sure is her sister's killer - Officer Raycevic. Will her attempt to uncover her sister's death lead Lena to her own death?

I read No Exit by Taylor Adams and that was a suspenseful read. So when I saw Hairpin Bridge on Netgalley, I just have to read it!
Hairpin Bridge is an adrenaline-filled thriller and it takes you on a speedy ride (literally). I like Lena. She is a brave woman, traveling hundreds of miles to a remote location to confront her twin sister's alleged killer even though they were not that close when Cambry was alive. As you do when watching a thriller movie, I was thinking aloud "Girl, get yourself outta there!" but am pleased when she survived another minute. I also love the narrative of this book. There are blog posts, Lena's journey in real-time and Cambry's story.
Hairpin Bridge is an action thriller through and through. Imagine high speed car chase, gun fights, the game of mouse and cat. It's fast paced, and would turn to be a great movie. I like my thrillers to be psychological and domestic, maybe that's why I didn't enjoy this the way I thought I would and knocking off some stars on my rating. But overall, a great thriller.
Hairpin Bridge is Taylor Adam’s’ latest thriller and once again proves that he is a master at building intensity and suspense, page by page, with glorious precision.
Lena Nguyen is on a mission to avenge her sister’s death. Driven not only by an inert conviction that there was something suspicious about her twin sister suicide a few months back, but also by her guilt for them drifting apart over the years and how she may have played a part in their estrangement. At least a bigger part than she has admitted to anyone. Aside from this conviction and guilt, there is also a hint of what can be described as a psychic connection between the twins.
Lena’s mission is revealed to the reader whilst she attempts to discover the truth of what happened on that faithful evening. Whilst she makes her own revelations as she deciphers the info provided to her, we are also provided sneak peaks into the minds of the other protagonists as they react with Lena.
All in all the book flows very well. The intensity and suspense is consistent throughout, interspersed with the odd doubt, revelation, and twist.
Thanks NetGalley and Joffe Books for a review copy.
It’s hard to compete with No Exit and although I had my hopes set really high for this one, it fell short. The first half was amazingly jaw dropping and the car chases had me on the edge of my seat. Towards the middle though, it started to become fluff and redundant as well as unbelievable. Many great details in this book by a master thriller story teller but I believe it could of been condensed a little. Still a fan of this author. Thanks NetGalleyb
I went into this one putting No Exit (a total fave!) out of my mind to have a clean slate.
Taylor Adams is a thrilling writing and is great at creating atmosphere. Lena Nguyen doesn't believe her twin sister Cambry completed suicide months earlier. She arranges to meet with the police officer, Corporal Raymond Raycevik who not only discovered Cambry's body, also but pulled her over for speeding shortly before. But Lena doesn't believe he's telling the truth and is determined to make him talk.
The first half of the book was strong for me. I was engaged, enthralled and wanted to know what happened in the past and what was going to happen in the present. But then the second half lost me. There was so much going on and a lot of repetition that dragged for me. The action picked-up at the end, but by that point, I wasn't invested in the outcome.
I'm stuck in the middle on this one. I know lots of people absolutely loved this one so encourage you to check it out if it sounds like your kind of read. I definitely look forward to Adams's next book!
Thank you to William Morrow and Netgalley for the ecopy in exchange for my review.
**Many thanks to NetGalley, Joffe, and Taylor Adams for an ARC of this book!!**
"Here's your book, sis. At long last. I'm so, so sorry that it's fifteen years late. And that you die at the end."
So begins Adams' latest thriller, Hairpin Bridge. Lena, devoted twin sister, is desperate to find out the truth about what happened to sister Cambry. Yes, she breathed her last at a now infamous suicide spot, Hairpin Bridge, and an incriminating text sent by Cambry at the end certainly points to this conclusion. However, Cambry mentions an Officer in her final note to Lena, and Lena suspects her free-wheeling sister would never choose this end for herself. She finds the Officer in question, and armed with an inquisitive mind (and potentially more), she begins a quest for the truth that won't quit until she gets every last answer...or is someone out to silence Lena...for good?
Adams' No Exit was a pleasant surprise for me: a page-turning, adrenaline-fueled ride that seemed like a story ripped out of today's headlines. I was so sure Hairpin Bridge would read in much the same way, and it did...to an extent. At first, I was drawn in by the mystery surrounding Cambry's death and Lena's stalwart determination to get to the bottom of things. I soon realized, though, that this one reads a lot more like an action movie...an incredibly repetitive action movie.
Without giving too much away, there is FAR too much discussion of firearms for my liking. The model one character has in particular was mentioned ad nauseum, and as someone who isn't a fan of guns, I just didn't care. Adams also compared his narrative (from the perspective of his characters) to a movie or television show over and over and over. Maybe he was hoping to demonstrate adaptation potential, but for me, it was just a reminder of how unrealistic most of the novel actually was and that it felt more like an action movie already than a fully-fleshed out narrative. The 'twists' weren't anything too shocking, at least for me, and even though the events of the novel took place over a relatively short period of time, they felt as though they went on forever. I was hoping at least the conclusion of this one would leave me satisfied, but I was underwhelmed.
Adams hit a home run with No Exit, but for me Hairpin Bridge felt more like a very long standoff at the OK Corral that just left me wanting more.
3.5 stars
Whoa! Hold on while I catch my breath, wipe the sweat from my brow, wash the grit from my hands, and get my adrenaline under control! Hairpin Bridge is a high-speed psychological thriller, which keeps you at the edge of your seat, needing to know more. Imagining smoke coming from the pages as you fly through them. Taylor Adams succeeds again with this highly suspenseful, crazy intense, thrill ride.
Three months ago, Lena Nguyen's twin sister, Cambry, jumps to her death from the top of Hairpin Bridge. Lena can feel it in her heart that she would have never jumped on her own. As she begins to dig deeper into the investigation, more and more details are not adding up. The cryptic text message Cambry sends to Lena is what spurs her on in the end, this is the one point she just cannot let go. Lena decides to meet up with Officer Raymond Raycevic to have him walk her through the last moments her sister was alive.
From that point on you are on an out-of-control rollercoaster ride until the end. Your heart pounding, holding your breath until you remember to breath, that you are not actually Lena. The unique way Adams writes the book draws you in, tips you over, leaves your head spinning, and never lets you go. Making you want to devour the entire book in one go. The description sets you in the middle of the Montana wilderness. You can imagine the intense scenes as they are laid out before you. They are quite vivid and can be gruesome at times.
Taylor Adams did it again! If you are a fan of terrifying, hang on to the edge of a cliff, bullets whizzing by your head type of books, run out and buy this! Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for this action packed read!
First and foremost, a big thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow Books for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.
Lena's alienated twin sister, Cambry, drove seventy miles from Missoula, Montana, to a far bridge and sprung around two hundred feet to her death three months ago. It's the official version of the cops. However, Lena doesn't buy it.
She has come to that exact bridge, driving a deceased twin's car and equipped with a cassette recorder, and is determined to find out what exactly happened by interrogating the highway patrol officer, who supposedly found her sister's body.
Corporal Raymond Raycevic has agreed to meet Lena on the scene. He's polite, straightforward and professional. However, his story still seemed a bit odd. For one instance, barely an hour before she apparently jumped to her death, he stopped Cambry for speeding. This was followed by the sixteen attempted 911 calls from her mobile phone, that were regrettably made from a signal-dead-region.
But maybe most distressing of all, is that in the last cryptic communication of Cambry to her sister, the name of a police officer was mentioned. Lena will do all she can to find out the truth. But as the dying hours of her twin sister comes into focus to Lena; the search for truth becomes a horrific struggle for her own life — one that will test everything of what she believed she knew about her sister and herself.
It's a page-turning thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you gasping at every turn. The narrative alternated between the protagonist's and her sister's points of view. The storyline will surely catch you off guard, with unexpected twists and turns. However, certain portions looked overly extended, which pulled my interest away from the story. However, it picked up toward the climax. The denouement was quite a surprise, and rather mind-boggling.
Nothing is as it appears, and what appears to be reality is often a deception.
It's a peculiar and compelling narrative of justice, mercy, vengeance, and remorse, with a dramatic and surprising finish.
I was so excited to get this book because No Exit was so great!
I loved the suspense that he brought to this book again! I was so invested and curious to see where it would go. I found myself holding my breathe from the suspense.
I took a star off just because it took a moment for me to get invested. At some points it got a bit fillerish. But that’s just my own personal opinion. I still highly suggest for anyone looking for a suspense book that will make you hold your breathe!
Well, this book was super detailed and attempts to paint a vivid account of the scene play by play. But these amount of detail did not work for me. Scenes that are described as taking place in a few minutes dragged for chapters, i.e. long car chases and shootouts. The details in about 50% of the book felt like it was just there to take up space. I found content in this book to be repetitive and long winded. The book jumps between a podcast/book monologue, flashbacks, dreams and things in real time - I found it confusing. I was exhausted by excessive detail by the time the twists came it fell flat for me.
Thanks to Joffe Books and Netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for a honest review.
"The word dead is so blunt
Gone is better. Or sometimes I try to tell myself that she's set free"
This is the eternal struggle of Lena. To bring to light the last few hours of her identical twin sisters death.
And that, good reader, is where I'm going to leave it at.
I wrote out a bunch of quotes and dissected the plot out a bit with no spoilers but...to go in blind to this book is the fairest way to prepare you for it. Taylor Adam's wrote "No Exit" which is one of my favorite reads this year. I inhaled that book in one night. This book took me 24 hours. So take your conclusions from there.
Go in blind and prepare for a wild time.
Thank you to William Morrow and NetGalley for the ARC
