This book was a thrill ride the entire time! It kept me turning pages and I couldn’t put it down! I definitely plan to read more books by this author!
This book took off and never let off the gas! Didn’t think I could love another book as much as “No Exit” but I was wrong.
Fantastic adrenaline fueled read.
Highly recommend
Hairpin Bridge is a high-octane thriller that deliver all the chills and thrills. However, it does push the limit of disbelief.
CAN I GET A WHAT! WHAT!
FOR TAYLOR "Killing it" ADAMS!
Good Lord, this man knows how to write a story. It's amazing, brutal as hell, fantastical, and so damn intelligent! The adjective "intense" is not adequate to describe this book. I am so greedy for another novel from Adams. I wish I could go back and read all of his books again, like it was the first time.
I don't know what to say, other than.... WHY HAVE YOU NOT STARTING READING THIS BOOK ALREADY!
T.A.Y.L.O.R A.D.A.M.S
I've even spelled his name for you.
Don't thank me, until you've read one of his books. Then yes, shower all your love on me for recommending/ demanding.Ish that you check this author out. 😀
*Thank you to Joffe Books via NetGalley for the DRC!
I did not enjoy this book. I thought the storyline was very repetitive and I felt as if I could guess the ending from the beginning. I was hoping there would be more action as well. I really enjoy the authors writing style, however the story just didn't do it for me. I believe more background on the characters and more than one scene throughout the whole book would have been beneficial to the storyline.
This was a fast paced thriller that covered only a few hours but kept you guessing and rethinking how you thought it'd end. Twin sisters and one is found dead, suspiciously. The patrolman involved takes the twin to the location and confusion ensues. The alternating timeless can be difficult to keep straight as the dead twin's life is slowly shown to us through her eyes. Still a great mystery to keep you engaged.
Sadly, I could not get past the first few chapters of this book. It lacked originality for me and was a little confusing.
When I was approved for this ARC, I was elated. Taylor Adams' first novel, No Exit, is still one of my favorite books that I will never stop recommending to people.
However, I quickly came to realize that this novel is not one that I would hold in such high esteem as his first novel. I know that many people have enjoyed this one, but I do not think that this is the book for me.
I look forward to all of Taylor Adams' next books, however, as the writing is something I always very much enjoy. I know that Taylor Adams will be an author that I pick up from again.
I really enjoyed this book! I was hopefull that I would love this one as much as I loved No Exit! I was absolutely blown away. I loved the style of writing and how the story flowed. I could not put it down.
This book was the reading equivalent to an action movie. From the get-go, it was nonstop action. So much so I read it in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down. Told in multiple timelines, present, vlogs, and a book. It was a thrilling read from beginning to end and shows the lengths we would go to for the ones we love.
This is a thriller told from twin sisters POV, past and present. I did get a little confused with which sister was telling her story. It started off strong, but felt repetitive after awhile and dragged a little in the middle. The ending picked back up for me. Thank you NetGalley.
Taylor Adams show how far a sister will go to figure out what happened in her sister's last moments:
When Lena heard about her twin sister's death, she knew that things did not add up. Cambry is not one to take her own life, and she is set on finding out the truth. And the place for her to start is the bridge that Cambry drove to and jumped 200ft to her death and her only clue is a text message that referenced Officer Raycevic. When Lena meets Officer Raycevic she know that he is hiding something. Lena will stop at nothing to find out what happened, but there are those that don't want the truth to come out and what started as an investigation turns into a fight for survival.
I had really high hopes for this book as I was seeing it everywhere getting rave reviews, as well as people raving about Adams' other book No Exit (which I have not had a chance to read yet). I'm going to be the minority in this one as this book was a DNF for me. I made it to about 30% and I just had to put it down.
One of the main problems that I had was the format that the book was written in. It was I was never sure if we were hearing Cambry's story as she lived it or reading what Lena thinks that happened to her sister. I just found it confusing and not sure why Adams did not fully define at times who was talking and kept switching back and forth constantly.
I actually really liked Cambry as a character, and her wild and free spirit and Lena with her sense of justice that needs to be had for Cambry and going to any lengths to get it, but just the format threw me off. I'm also not sure about the whole blog aspect that Lena is engaged in, but those are the times these days.
So this one wasn't for me, but I'll probably still pick up No Exit and give it a try as I have read that those who did not enjoy this one, really enjoyed that one.
Cheers!!!
If you told me Hairpin Bridge was written by the same author who wrote my favorite book in 2019. You know the book I still rave and think about to this day three years later, I’d probably fight you!! What?!?! There is absolutely NO way Taylor Adams wrote this book! It wasn’t good!
What I liked … the action, the beginning started off strong but then things got repetitive and soooooo boring and beyond unrealistic. I did sit this one down and it’s been forever and I still have not been able to bring myself to finish. Absolutely no desire. Even with that being said if Taylor Adam releases a new book, you best believe I’ll be picking up and hoping it’s a winner like No Exit truly is! I’m not giving up on this author because I’ve seen top tier level of awesomeness but then a DNF. It I’m here for it Taylor Adams.
A huge thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for one of my most anticipated books in exchange for my honest thoughts!
I’d give this book 3.5 stars. I loved the fast pace. It was a quick, intense ride with a couple decent twists. Nothing mind-blowing but a solid thriller that kept me interested until the end, and that’s honestly exactly what I wanted. I quite enjoyed it.
i loved No Exit; it was a read-in-one-sitting book for me, so when i sat down to read Hairpin Bridge, i expected the same. While this was still an excellent novel, it didn’t live up to the hype i built around it in my head. this book is twisty, it’s gory, and it’s suspenseful. in true Adam’s fashion, the writing was atmospheric and i thoroughly enjoyed it. i think, in my haste to the end, i didn’t comprehend all of the book, so maybe a reread will change my mind on the rating and i’ll pick up on things i missed. the ending was satisfying but i still felt confused. i will still read anything Adams writes and i can’t wait for his next one!
Thank you to Joffe Books, Taylor Adams, and Netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the author's previous book No Exit, so I admit, I set the bar really high for Hairpin Bridge. While it wasn't quite as incredible, it was still enjoyable and made for a fast paced read with lots of action and twists.
I haven’t read No exit so I had no idea what I’m getting myself into with this title.
I enjoyed the grip that this story got on me from the first chapter. It held my attention right away and while it was getting confusing and quite hard for me to keep up with all the events from past and present and the new added characters, I still think it’s an intriguing story. It took me a bit longer to finish as I had to reread some parts of it back and forth to actually understand where everything goes but I’m happy that I haven’t gave up in the end.
Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy
I was a HUGE fan of No Exit, so I had really high hopes going into this one. My heart was racing a quarter of the way into this one, just like it was in No Exit. This was extremely fast paced, and kept me engaged through out. The main character was strong and smart which I loved and felt the same about the main character in No Exit. Thumbs up to Taylor Adams for making strong female protagonists. There were many times, however, where I felt a sort of disconnect and confusion. This was a fun and thrilling read, it just didn't keep me fully engaged as No Exit did.
I absolutely loved this book! I found it hard to put down. I highly recommend reading it! You won’t be disappointed.
DNF - Did not finish. I did not connect with the writing style or plot and will not be finishing this title. Thank you, NetGalley and Publisher for the early copy!
