I was so nervous picking up this Taylor Adams book because his last book, No Exit, had me white knuckled and anxiety ridden for days. However, Dear Reader, I decided to read another Adams novel and this one was just the right amount of tension, angst, mystery, action, and twisty endings to make me happy...even a chicken like me. After reading this book, I am wondering if I need to find a Sharpshooters weapon school near me, and I will never underestimate the power of twins again! Highly recommend!

I loved "No Exit", but this was.. just not very good. The characters felt super hollow and flat, and the twists became ridiculous.

This is my second book by Taylor Adams. I thought No Exit was middle of the road, but decided to give him another try. I think he tried to play off the success of his first book, which was set all in a one night time span. It worked better for No Exit. It did not work for me at all here.

This follows our main character who has lost her estranged twin sister to supposed suicide. She doesn't believe her sister would do this, so she travels to the bridge where it happened to find answers.

The short time span just did not work for this story. It was too long and drawn out. I gave it 2 stars.

Cambry and Lena are twins. They have never been close. Cambry leaves their home to go out on her own. The next thing they hear about Cambry is that she committed suicide by jumping off Hairpin Bridge. Lena isn’t convinced that Cambry jumped so she decides to investigate. She meets Corporal Raymond Raycevic at the scene, where he seems forthright and sympathetic but Lena can tell something is off.

I had really high hopes for this book because I had heard that No Exit was phenomenal….unfortunately I was let down a bit. I didn’t really find out anything in the story about Lena or Cambry that made me really want to know if she committed suicide or not, it seemed like the characters were just glanced over. Their relationship and their estrangement are talked about but not enough information for me really care about the characters and their situation. The story seemed a litt hurried and choppy at times. There was a small twist that I didn’t see coming and I did appreciate the fact that we were hearing the story from Cambry’s point of view as well as Lena’s. This story just didn’t grip me and the build up of suspense just wasn’t as intense as I would have liked.

Taylor Adams' No Exit was a 5-star read for me, so I was excited to read Hairpin Bridge, and though I didn't like it quite as much as No Exit, it was still pretty great. The characters were very well-written, and it was easy to empathize with Lena. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, and I had a hard time putting it down. The ending was really satisfying too. Thanks to NetGalley and Joffe Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review Hairpin Bridge. : )

Holy #$%^ balls...I gobbled that up like a plate of Thanksgiving leftovers! The stress, tension, intrigue and creep factor are strong with this one. I felt like I was there watching it all go down (from a safe distance, of course)!!

Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams was SUCH a thrill! Action packed thrillers are not my usual pick, but wow, I am so glad I chose this book. It is something else! Definitely not for the faint hearted.

From the moment she meets officer Raymond Raycevic you feel something is very off. I admired Lena's resolve to get to the bottom of what happened to her sister even when that causes her to jeopardize
her own life.

There were times I wanted to slam this book shut so badly. The tension and horror were almost unbearable at times.
Yet I had to know what would happen next.
All in all an awesome ride and definitely one of my favourite reads this year!

This book was a roller coaster, intense, terrifying and at times disgusting.


Lena does not believe her twin sister Camby committed suicide. So she goes on a road trip to investigate.

There were times I could not put the book down, there were times when I literally got ill and put the book down, but since I decided to review it, I picked it back up again.

The story is told through Lena's perspective, and then Corporal Raymond Raycevic's perspective. Ray is the highway patrol officer who saw Cambry last. Interspersed also is Cambry's perspective.


I was really enjoying the book until chapter 15 and 16. This is where I would have stopped reading the book if I wasn't reviewing it.




So the book sat for a full 2 days and then I picked it up and continued reading.

One reason I wanted to read this book was I really liked NO EXIT and I thought i would enjoy this one as well. Like I said I DID until....................I've already mentioned when.


so I kept reading because I wanted to see how it would unfold until the end.



It was such a creepy book, and unrealistic but filled with suspense.


I think my review will be in the minority, since most people seem to have loved the book.

I will say if only humans were characters I would have rated this book far higher. I'm learning that the author just writes about creatures and critters in ways I can't stomach.

Is there an author right now who is writing thrillers that are as cinematic as Taylor Adams?

Lena doesn't accept that her estranged sister, Cambry, committed suicide. Her plan is to visit the scene of her "suicide" and work through the events of what happened. Told through two timelines, you get to intimately know the sisters, and slowly piece the mystery together of what happened on that fateful day.

That's all you really need to know going in.

There is a slow building dread to this one, but the last quarter turns into a super fun shootout reminiscent of Ben Wheatley's Free Fire.

3.5 stars rounded up.

I did like the story and was fully invested when Lena busted her gun out but the timelines and different POVs really confused me. There were several times I was completely lost I did re read a lot of the chapters. I have no exit on my shelf and can't wait to read it!

What a thriller! I read many thrillers and can usually guess where the book is reading and what turns it will take. Not the case with this one. Thank you!!

Hairpin Bridge follows Lena Nguyen to middle of nowhere Montana after the death and suicide of her twin sister, Cambry. While she wasn’t close to her twin, Lena isn’t buying the fact that her sister leapt from the infamous Hairpin Bridge to her death. So she goes to interview the patrolman that found her body in order to get to the truth. Things quickly escalate and the story takes the reader on quite a ride.

I feel like this is a hard review for me to write. While I liked the author’s writing style and this book had plenty of twists and turns that kept you on the edge of your seat and flying through the pages; I really didn’t care for the storyline. It was pretty graphic and gory in places that I wasn’t expecting from this thriller. While I don’t expect a thriller to be a happy read, this one especially doesn’t leave you with any good feelings.

I’ve heard the author’s other book, No Exit, is fantastic and I definitely still plan to read it as I did really enjoy his writing style.

I did really enjoy this book. However, I felt that it was slightly over hyped. Often when a book is over hyper I don’t tend to enjoy it as much. I will revisit this title

This was a crazy story and quite unbelievable in times but still enjoyed the story. There were times my anxiety was sky high and that is a great sign for a thriller novel. I did enjoy No Exit a bit more but will still read more from this author.

I have been looking forward to another Taylor Adams book since I read No Exit. If you are in the mood for a fast paced, full throttle, suspenseful mystery - this is your book! We follow a few storylines, twin sisters, Lena who committed suicide on Hairpin Bridge and Cambry who thinks there is more to the story. She returns to Hairpin Bridge to find answers.
I love the writing and the non stop action of this book! Go in with an open mind ready for anything and you will love this book as much as I do!

I can’t help but compare this to NO EXIT because now that I’m writing this review (a month after I read it) I’m noticing A LOT of similarities.

Same good guy who turns out to be bad, a familial relationship, small cast of characters, similar plot (well kinda) and a strong female lead- which leads me to my opening line.

I was bored with the story then Lena pulls out a gun and shows her total badassary (bad-assery? Bad ass-ness? SHE’S A BAD ASS, OKAY!?)

So the first half (it might’ve been less...) was definitely heavy character development then BOOM.

I LOVED NO EXIT BY TAYLOR ADAMS, it was one of my favorite books of the entire year so far and when I saw there was another book out I knew I had to read it.
I loved this book as well. Taylor Adam’s does an amazing job with thrillers, the adrenaline shoots straight from your heart the entire time. I could not put this book down. I read it all in one night and have been in a slump ever since.

This book was a roller coaster ride of all emotions. Fear for the sisters, heartbreak and loss. Told in the eyes of all the characters this book keep me guessing, right to the end.

This book was such a happy surprise! A month later and I can’t stop thinking about that ending. I was a little worried since it’s starts off featuring a police detective. I’m usually not a fan of detective thrillers. But I binged 75% of it in one night and every twist and turn was a big surprise! I can’t really review without giving spoilers, but just know that you will not be able to guess the climatic moments!

I will be the first to admit I was not a huge fan of Taylor Adams’ first book No Exit. This was before I started my bookstagram, but I gave it a 2/5 ⭐️ - mostly for the unnecessary graphic nature of the book in general. I fully appreciate that my personal preference for types mysteries and thrillers didn’t align with No Exit but I was still excited to read the follow up, Hairpin Bridge.

Lena’s sister Cambry commits suicide by jumping off Hairpin Bridge in Montana a few months ago. Although estranged, Lena does not believe her sister would take her own life. She travels to the bridge and sets up an interview with the police officer who found Lena‘s body. But with more digging and investigating, more questions arise. Did Cambry commit suicide? Does the police officer know more than what he’s telling Lena? What was Cambry up to those last few months of her life?

I was able to obtain a copy of this for Kindle thanks to @netgalley and read it right around its pub day a few weeks back. I am very glad I didn’t spend any money on this book as I found it pretty lackluster, unbelievable and bland. The story is told over just a few hours and could’ve easily been 70 pages shorter. I don’t mind slow burn thrillers but I felt like the story never really took off. When there was any suspense, it was quite unrealistic and hard to comprehend. I think my first words upon closing the book after finishing were “what did I just read?” 😵‍💫 Needless to say, I will not be jumping on future books from this author and give it a…
