Not for everyone, but those who enjoy time travel, fantasy, and strong female bonds will enjoy the story.
Lilly and Alice have a bond that transcends time and is a strong component of the plot and development of the story. I would have liked to see a more balanced depiction of Lilly and Alice in present day and in the past for understanding purposes of their bond.
Best does a great job of bringing in real historical components into her story from the male dominance over women in the 1700s and the fear of witch craft or misunderstood to the horrors of ocean travel and family dynamic. I think best did a great job composing a middle grade read, but at times this felt like it still had several revisions to go through before publication.

This was a beautiful, poignant story. I loved reading about historical Germany. I'm not a huge fan of dual timelines as I find it disruptive to my reading, however, Laura did a good job of splitting the two. I do, however, wish we would have seen a little bit more of present-day Germany.
I appreciated Laura's attention and inclusion of women's position and expectancies of historic Germany. The friendships and vivid storytelling had me totally immersed in this story.
I will say, the title threw me off a bit. Where is the cure for witchcraft? I'm mostly kidding, overall I really enjoyed this read and would definitely recommend it to any readers of any age!
I think it's an interesting book and I liked the story that kept my attention.
The plot flows and the characters are interesting.
Some more research would have helped as the German part is a bit weird (I lived in the area).
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
A Sure Cure for Witchcraft is a lovely tale between, Lily a young girl and her teacher Alize who may or not be a witch. Well it can get confusing for the 1700's if you know your way around herbs and a women. The relationship between the two women is a heartwarming one and nice to read. I do wish their was more magic, like herbs growing oddly quickly or a bat understanding human speech. The magic in this story is the mundane kind, witch works here.
Nice read.
