Thank you netgalley for this free ARC.
Aurora's End is the last in this trilogy.
Aurora and Kel have disappeared, Tyler Jones a prisoner or war, and the rest of the squad are living the same day over and over. The threat of the Ra'hamm is beyond warning, they have come.
This book proves to be a satisfactory ending to a wonderful series. It is action packed and ready to play with your heart strings in all the wrong ways. Don't let the page count fool you. Its worth the read.
This book was perfect! I love this series so much I can hardly stand it. There was a lot of peril and our characters definitely got stuck in some terrifying and intense situations, but the ending was SO BEAUTIFUL and I loved every minute of this book. It just filled me right up.
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHIHHH!! I have loved this series since the first book, and this last installment - THE LAST - does not disappoint at all. I was emotional. I had to stop reading a few times, to process. I cried and grieved, and I was happy, and I was angry!! Just so many emotions! I loved it. I am sad to let these characters go, but I cannot wait to reread the series and relive it all, and especially now that it is complete.
Bravo, once again, to my favorite authors. For all the twists and turns they throw at us, that I never manage to see coming. For the characters that I fall in love with every time I open the pages of their books.
Cannot wait to see what they have up their sleeves next!
Squad 312 failed. They couldn't even try to destroy the voracious Ra'haam hivemind because the superweapon they needed had already been stolen by the genocidal Caersan and aimed at Earth. Then it just vanishes. Only squad leader Tyler is left to stop the Ra'haam, which is tricky because he's being held captive by an alien warrior princess who either wants to stab or kiss him. Unbeknownst to him, his teammates Zila, Fin, and Scarlett are stuck in a time loop in the past, while Aurora and Kal are trapped on the superweapon with Caersan. Somehow contains even more epic action than the first two books and no less snark.
Such an amazing into a series. An epic space adventure with time travel but more importantly with strong themes about friendship and love and what one person is willing to sacrifice to save not only the universe but those who she holds most dear.
Time travel, big conflict, and sassy attitude? Check, check and double-check. After a wiz-bang cliffhanger, Squad 312 is back in action for the epic conclusion of the Aurora trilogy. Be prepared for new relationships (and some old ones, too) as the Squad fights to find their way back together to literally save the universe, umm, hopefully. Written from distinct perspectives, readers will be eagerly turning pages as wit, action and great influences from all the hit sci-fi genres keep Aurora's End hurtling forward at light-speed. Be prepared to break (not just time) in this quirky and wonderful conclusion!
What a ride with some amazing characters. This trilogy was quite an adventure and I'm sad to see it end. I had a few moments in the book where I was confused as to why the the authors did what they did but hey, it's their book they can do what they want. Overall I'm going to be sad to leave these characters behind and how they grew through the three books.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC for an honest opinion.
I was pleasantly surprised with how the series ended, and there were times I cried...hard, haha, but you know what they say, if the book cant make you show what your feeling it wasn't worth the read. I loved it, whole heartedly.
Any book that can tear my heart out while I wipe away the tears so my eyes aren't too blurry to keep reading is a winner. All the ways they say goodbye broke me but oh what a journey!
I was really excited about this book because the second one left you on a huge cliffhanger! That being said the cliffhanger was redeemed in this novel!
Now you do have a recap at the beginning of the book so that was awesome, I feel like that was what helped me connect everything even though I have read the other two novels. However, this book should come with an UGLY CRYING warning. Late 2 am crying.
This is a book of action and there really are no dull moments, the authors did a very great job of keeping your attention as well as keeping you glued to the story!
There are some deaths and secrets reveals that I honestly wasn't prepared for but it happened and I am kind of hoping that this is not the end, I mean I can see how it could be but it's also hard to walk away from this story! The family and relationships built in this series and it was amazing!
I would definitely recommend this series if you loved the illuminae series then you will definitely love this one! Be prepared with tissues and support because you are going to need it!
Thank you Netgalley and Random House Children's for the opportunity to read and review this one! I definitely enjoyed it and it was a great honor to read!
A wonderful, mind-bending end to a great trilogy. Kaufman and Kristoff are the best at YA sci-fi and Aurora's End just proves they reign in this genre. *Chef’s kiss*
This was a mostly satisfying conclusion to the series. Each of our main characters was given a fitting, clean ending. My only quibble is how the central conflict was resolved. It felt a bit too easy and anticlimactic. When it happened, I thought, “Well then why didn’t they do that from the beginning???” However the character are what kept me coming back to this story and their conclusion was worth it.
It is always so hard to review a final book in a series, especially when they are so good and exactly what you were hoping for out of the finale. I will try really hard not to spoil anything, but if you have loved the first two books, then this one will leave you breathless.
This book starts off right were book two leaves off, but it does take a while to learn what has happened to everyone. Squad 312 spends most of the book apart from each other, but even though they are apart, everyone has each other in their hearts and in their thoughts hoping that they have survived beyond the odds. I loved the character developments of everyone, and the budding romances were done so well. And even though it was hard to say goodbye to the characters in this book, they all ended up were they needed to be.
I really enjoyed the multiple plots, with the group being split up the way they were, it would have been easy to lose track of what each group was going through. But the authors did a great job of keeping it a cohesive whole, even with some of the sciencey stuff getting a bit complex. The ending was perfect and I just loved how Auri figured out how to take care of the Ra’haam. It just fit the whole theme of the book so well.
I did have a few minor dislikes and issues. I missed Magellan’s interludes between the chapters, like we got in the first and most of the second books. He does make a quick, short comeback in this book, but none of those interludes. I also wasn’t a fan of the relationship that developed between Tyler and Saedii, it was just a tad too violent, although they did grow on me by the end of the book. The ending also had some rough sections, that I am hoping get smoothed out in the final edit.
I really enjoyed this book and thought it was the perfect ending for this series. It went in directions I was expecting, but it still threw in a few surprises. I am sure this is a series I will return to whenever I am in the mood for a story about found family, friendship and lots of snarky yet loveable characters.
Thank you so much to the publisher for the early review copy.
5/5 stars.
I absolutely adore squad 312 and this book definitely did them justice. We end up with new additions to our little squad. This book was non-stop action and I swear it never slowed down until the end. There's time travel, there's budding romance, there's danger, there's friendship, and there is so much love.
I really don't want to write too much as I do not want to spoil anything. But this was a very fitting end for squad 312's story and I am so happy with how it ended for everyone remaining. I laughed, I cried, I read at the edge of my seat.
Highly recommend this series.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Knopf Books for Young Readers for an e-arc of Aurora's End! All opinions are my own!
Aurora's End picks back up where Aurora Burning ends. I won't give you any spoilers about the plot.
I loved the whole book. It was a slow start, but there were so many different plot lines that were going on. Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman had to figure out where each plot line fit in with the overall book. Yes, I cried, but isn't that to be expected? I'm sad the series ended, but I'm definitely happy with the way it ended. Not everyone survives, but there is a happy ending for the book. I will say, I predicted a few things, but there were main plot twists that I didn't see coming. I have to say, however, that I loved the growth Tyler went through in the book. He went from the rule-following space cadet to someone who would put everything on the line to save the ones he loves. He has to be my favorite character in the book with Saedii coming in at a close second.
I will always read any books that Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman write together. If you need the push to read Aurora Rising so that you can read Aurora's End, please do it. The book series is about a found family in a band of misfits and how they try to save the universe (okay, that's not all that its about, but that's the best description I can give without giving away too much).
This was such a bittersweet end. Beautiful end to a wonderful trilogy! I will miss these characters so much with Amie and Jay have developed them with so much love!
A wonderful ending to a wonderful trilogy. I was wanting a liiiiittle bit more out of this though. It wasn't quite the five star, smashing hit that Obsidio was. I think maybe the falter was there were too many character's story to wrap up in the detail I, personally, was wanting. But it was a great story and I love squad 312 so much. Another fantastic YA Scifi series for Kaufman and Kristoff!
This review is not going to go over well with the general public, but BIG YIKES. I am not a fan. I loved, LOVED the first two. So much so that during quarantine, I sent my students copies of Aurora Burning as it had just come out. But this one? Our promised glorious finale, the beautiful intergalactic space opera wrapping up our children's stories? BIG. YIKES.
I went from screaming, giggling, plotting ahead about what would happen next in book 1 and 2 to just sighing deeply that this was the route book three took and that this is the way it had to be told.
I cried ENDLESSLY at the ending of the Illuminae series. For a week straight. At the ending of this? Texted my bestie "bleh" and went right to bed.
I want to love this book. I want the world to love this book. But I can't. Once it's released to the general public, I can't see very many people loving it as well. It honestly feels like a part 3 out of 4.
So again, while I know this won't be a popular review or a well-received one, I'll be curious to know what the rest of the fanbase thinks. But I wasn't emotionally attached this time, none of the characters drew me in, and I don't feel like it was the finale it could have been. Mic drop, review ended.
Ugh. I’m so sad to see this series end. I loved all of the characters and felt the book wrapped up nicely. I can’t wait to see what Amie and Jay bring us next!
So, I requested an ARC from the publisher back in JANUARY. I forgot about it, but decided to read the eARC.
And I wish I could forget about this book? I really like Aurora Rising. I mostly enjoyed Aurora Burning, but this was... a mess. I struggled tof follow along with some of the timeline (won't say specifics because of spoilers) but it got WEIRD. Also, why does wvery character in this book need to have romantic feelings for someone?? This book veered into NA. And the sci-fi elements were just funky. Just severely disappointed 🤷 It's like they ran out of plot and just told characters to have sex with one another and fall into some strange time warp
