I really enjoyed this quick little read! I wanted a “Christmas in July” read to combat the summer heat and this book delivered the holiday spirit to a giant degree. I think my absolute favorite part were the “curse words” chosen - you just couldn’t escape the holiday vibe. I really liked Lila and Teddy separately and together. I found the other characters to be great additions but would have enjoyed more of the friendship adventures.
Overall, solid 4 star read.

I didn’t love this one, but I do love a holiday romance so I’m willing to forgive it. Overall very cute and I will be recommending it to my teens.

This book is so adorable! It's the perfect holiday read, especially for book bloggers and Filipino readers. I felt that I was seen.. and I don't usually experience that. Moreover, I love how cute and fluffy the story is. Sometimes, it's just all you need!

Definitely looking forward for more Tif Marcelo books!

Cute YA Christmas romance. I liked Lila's book review blogging the most. The whole story was bit too innocent and PG for my tastes but it would be perfect for a young teen.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book and chose to review it. This in no way impacts my opinion.

Okay, I'm ready for Christmas! This was such a cute and fun holiday romance. I loved the way that family dynamics and different aspects of moving towards being your own person were depicted in here as well. I thought that it was totally adorable to have them check off the bucket list of things to do in your town and I want to do that in my town. The whole "switch" of the phone thing lasted a night so it was kind of a gimmick to have it as the title, but it was a cute way to get the characters talking a bit more.

I connected with both of the main characters right away. I thought the way they handled their present and their secrets was really interesting and relatable. I also liked that Lila was a book blogger, although I don't know how she could read and post in basically the same day. I have my blog scheduled for WEEKS lol.

I thought the inclusion of rock climbing was a really interesting choice for a sport for the love interest. It isn't one you see often but it was really neat and I liked the metaphor of how you have to trust and rely on each other as a thread throughout. Teddy was definitely worthy of being crushed on!

There were some elements of convenience that didn't vibe with me and I wish the side characters had been fleshed out (more set in this universe with them, especially KC, please!!!). But that's typical of these types of romance stories and I can't fault the author for including them because everyone was oh so cute!

TLDR: If you want to skip Hallowe'en like I do and get into the Christmas spirit, this one is for you! A cute love interest with great banter, a wholesome look at family, and the perfect winter town. What more could you ask for?

Loved and appreciate the minority representation in this! Also adored how the characters were bookish and how it adds just a little bit more magic to this wintry romance.

Love this YA enemies to lovers tale about a senior and freshman in college. What started as a phone swap quickly became a friendship as Lila and Teddy realized their secrets were no longer their own.

Look at the pretty cover! I was excited to see a holiday young adult novel by Tif Marcelo. I’ve enjoyed her writing before and I haven’t read a young adult holiday story before that I can remember. So it was a go.

THE HOLIDAY SWITCH is a young adult holiday story with a dash of romance. Heroine works at a bookstore and wants to get extra hours during the holidays but instead the owner’s nephew gets hired and she has to train him. It gave me young THE HATING GAME vibes even though I wish it had more holiday cheer.

That being said, I liked our main character and the bit of romance that’s more of a friendship for most of the book. Let’s call it enemies to lovers, slow burn and co-workers. I also enjoy stories set at bookstores so that was a huge plus for me. Especially since the heroine is a book blogger, secretly. Maybe that explains why my favorite parts of the book were the book reviews she would post 😉

For a short story I think it showed great character growth, family and culture. Both our main characters have secrets they are keeping from their family and that internal struggle to overcome between what’s expected of them and what they want. I quite reading that! Even though this wasn’t my favorite by this author, it was certainly a fun addition to my holiday reads.

This was a cute YA novel about a girl in high school working at a gift shop/bookstore who keeps a very large part of herself as a secret from everyone. I really loved the hype and there wasn't much romance at all.

A cute holiday romance, about a girl with a secret blog and a boy with a secret climbing hobby. Okay, really they are teens and they are very responsible with real jobs and lives. I loved the main family in it and all the Filipino family tradition connections. It was cute, and a fun holiday read I read a little too late. The romance is there, but honestly, it's more about the holiday and the friendship and learning to be who you are.

A fun, quick holiday romance. Lila's family dynamic was understandable. Although her initial disdain for Teddy was a little annoying, I am happy it didn't last for too long. Teddy's family dynamics felt a little forced but I did enjoy his charming personality.

♤ rating: 3.5/5
♤ review: the story reloves around Lila & Teddy - our couple. This books very calming, a perfect read for a rainy day. So the plot basically is that our mc meets the cute love interest who turns out to be annoying. Due to the things he wants, her extra hours are taken away by him. They both accidentally exchange phones and learn secrets. Lila and Teddy slowly start to adapt to each other. This was sort of my binge read as the story kept me hooked. If you are one of those sweet romance types, then this is perfect for you. Lila seemed a little naive and she wasn't exactly acting her age (18). Perhaps the author was aiming for younger teens, still it was somewhat irritating. Anyways, this was a cute read. And if not obvious by cover and title, its a Christmas read!

This was such a cute YA romance with the best Christmas atmosphere. The Holiday Switch is a feel-good, short book that will definitely get you in the holiday spirit. I would recommend it for anyone 14+ as it is a clean, cute, festive story!

Content: Clean! There might be a random swear word, but I can't remember any.

I received and ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is not one of those stories that hooked me from the start. It took me a bit to get into it, but I'm really glad that I read it. It's a sweet little romance between a high school senior who loves writing and a college freshman or sophomore who is passionate about climbing. I am a writer at heart and my son is a climber so I felt connected to the characters. This is not a deeply plotted story, it's very character driven and has a sweet, feel good vibe. Great choice for teens who like romance but want to keep it sweet and clean.

Lila Castro is experiencing her last winter break at home before heading off to Syracuse in the fall. She needs every hour of work her boss can give her at the inn she’s employed at, but when the owner’s nephew, Teddy Veracruz, takes a part-time job there for the holidays, it messes with her plans to make some extra funds. When they accidentally switch phones for a day, each learns more about the other and suddenly they go from enemies to dating, but the secrets they’re keeping from each other and their families might threaten their new relationship.

The Holiday Switch is a light and fun YA Holiday Romance. I'm always a fan of enemies to lovers. Lila and Teddy had fun tension that slowly blossomed into more. I loved the bookish elements of this story and that Lila was a book blogger. Her posts and book reviews were so fun to read. If you are looking for a Young Adult Romance with festive cheer, pick this one up!

Two rival coworkers with two very big secrets . . . What could possibly go wrong?

Lila Santos is ready for her last winter break of high school. The snow in her small town of Holly, New York, is plentiful, the mood is as cozy as a fuzzy Christmas sweater, and she's earning extra cash working at the local inn—AKA the setting of the greatest film of all time, Holiday by the Lake—while moonlighting as an anonymous book blogger.

But her perfect holiday plans crash to a halt when her boss's frustratingly cute nephew, Teddy Rivera, becomes her coworker. Lila is type A; Teddy is type “Anything but Lila’s Way,” and the two of them can’t stop butting heads over tangled icicle lights and messy gift shop merch. But when they accidentally switch phones one afternoon, they realize they've both been hiding things from each other. Will their secrets—and an unexpected snowstorm—bring these rivals together?
