This was a rather short preview, but let me tell you, I'm hooked. It's going on my "want to read" list right now.

Okay, I just added it and you know what I learned? It's a sequel (kinda, as in same world, different characters stories, with the other characters showing up in both) and I now need to read both.

Basically, three amazing women become friends because they all dated the same dude- absolutely love the women supporting other women vibe here, and honestly, they are all super supportive. This book happens to follow Taylor though, who is a fitness guru with mounting piles of debt and a dream to succeed in the world of fitness and nutrition.

We get small glimpses into her skills and despite not having a degree in either subjects, she is super knowledgeable, and as a reader, I'm even getting health tips that I want to follow. In many books, fitness and nutrition can be approached from a "what you can't eat/do" but Taylor is the exact opposite and focuses on what you can. She's supportive and realistic, thus far, and I think that's a really important message to carry in a book. But, she's not perfect, which is also important. She has made some poor financial decisions, and honestly, that's really refreshing to see in a book. Not because you want the character to be hurting, but it's more relatable than rich characters, or characters who never have a problem in their life.

Taylor is real, her friends are incredible and supportive women, and the small glimpse I got of Jamar, the love interest, was one of a good, hard working man. I cannot wait to read this book!

I enjoyed Farrah Rochon’s previous works, so I’m grateful for this preview.

The Dating Playbook seems like a fun and engaging read! I like the writing very much. And on the first four chapters makes you want to root for Taylor to do well. I also like the support she receives from her friends, which could be something consistent in the book. I already like Taylor and Jamar together and looking forward to picking up the book to read the rest.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read a sample of this book! I was drawn to it because it's been popular on social media and I really enjoyed these four chapters. I loved learning about Taylor and I think the premise is a really good one. I hope to pick this one up one day!

Farrah Rochon maintains the same level of comfort in her writing in every. single. time. It’s like talking to an old friend, where you feel like no time has passed and you’re right back to where you were the last time you spoke. I can’t wait to read the rest of this book.

This was a really good start! I can definitely sympathize with Taylor as someone who has their own small business. I’m intrigued to see how she manages to fix her finances and how a relationship with a potential client comes about (because obviously they’re going to date - that’s what I’m here for, haha.) For sure interested in reading the full book!

The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon was one of my favorite reads of 2020 and I've been anxiously awaiting the next installment. This preview of book 2, The Dating Playbooks looks fun and exciting while being filled with fun for those who fell in love with the SQUAD in the previous book. I can't wait to read the rest of the novel! Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance preview of the opening chapters.

Love me a hustle subplot, realistic money issues, and although I don’t expect it to get full-on into how different incomes affect friendships I can see some hints of it not being avoided and, they have a part in the inner monologue and the plot for the MC. Love that.
The hero seems good so far, I didn't feel sparks flying from the MC but he’s into her, that's not my favorite trope but, I like the writing so I will be picking this one up soon.

I still have not read the first book in this series but this can be read as a stand-alone and I loved these first 4 chapters. I can’t wait to read the rest of this book.

This story picks up three months after the first book in the series and follows Taylor who has had a bout of bad luck recently including getting arrested, losing a dream job, and having to choose which bills she can afford to pay this month. After a series of promising job opportunities fell through her fingertips Taylor is determined to get a handle on this even if it means working full time and going back to school: something she dreads more than almost anything. Taylor is trying to run her own fitness and personal training business but without a college degree she fears she will never be able to make the business the best it could be.
This preview featured our powerful trio from book one; all of whom have set goals for themselves and are working together to help each other achieve those goals. As someone who loves a sports romance and strong female friendships I am definitely going to be picking this book up.

Thanks to netgalley for a preview of the first 4 chapters to this book. I was a fan of the The Boyfriend Project and happy to read the next book in the series. I loved the beginning of the character development and purchased the kindle version after reading the free preview in order to see where these characters go. I highly recommend this book and the author.

Because I read only the sample of four chapters I can not accurately rate or review the whole book, but what I did read I really enjoyed. I even forgot it was a sample and was so sad when I couldn't continue the story. The first 4 chapters really grip you into the story and make you want to know more about Taylors life and her journey. As a young adult I can totally feel her struggles. I know what it feels like to be the broke one in the friend group.

I loved the first four chapters of this book and absolutely cannot wait to read the rest. I love how Rochon captures all of the different personalities and makes each character so relatable even if they are so different than who you are. Also, there are just not enough stories about black love, and so I'm happy to read another one :). Thank you NetGalley for the preview - can't wait to read the rest!

I’ve been seeing this book all over social media and even though I’m not a super fan of contemporary when I read the synopsis I knew I had to give this one a chance.

It’s the second book of what I think will be a trilogy I haven’t read the first one but I didn’t have any problem understanding what was happening, especially because this book it’s about a different character, everything we need to know about the previous one was described on the first chapter so I’m very sure it can be read as standalone.

Anyway, this one follows Taylor who’s in desperate need of money, she’s trying to make her fitness company successful but failing spectacularly, so when Jamar, a football player, shows up at one of her classes and propose for her to be his personal trainer she knows can’t refuse.

If there’s one thing I love in books it’s a good friendship and even with only four chapters I already can tell that the one between Samiah, Taylor and London is a good one, I’m definitely curious to know what’s going to happen now and how Taylor is going to get out of her financial mess.

“Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this preview in exchange for my honest review”

If you typically don't read romance or similar genres this is the perfect one to start with. Farrah Rochon does an amazing job of pulling you into the story from the very beginning. Immediately her characters were relatable and fresh. Even though I read a preview, I am excited to read the rest of this book and recommend this to my book club.

"This book is going to be fun," is the first thing I thought when I finished this preview. The characters have a nice dynamic between the two of them, which makes it really easy for the reader to root for their relationship. While I'm not the biggest fan of football (or really sports in general), I don't think that it's going to interfere too much with the story. I can't wait to see how things unfold!

I loved The Boyfriend Project when I read it last year and jumped at the chance to read this next book in the series. I wish I'd been able to obtain a copy of the entire book but I'm happy to have received the preview version (only chapters 1-4). Based on this alone, I can already tell this will be equally incredible, if not more :-)

This story focuses on the second friend Taylor and her story. Basically, each of the three friends Samiah, Taylor and London have made a pact to focus on their own personal/professional goals rather than be limited by their romantic statuses and search for a partner. In this book, Taylor focuses on her goal to become a certified physical trainer and nutritionist - this is a superb premise and offers great potential to explore all the themes that we saw in Book 1 too - empowering women, helping them achieve their goals and having a supportive circle around to enable these ambitions. This series also focuses on inclusivity and diversity which is a refreshing character choice :-) I'm loving this series and cannot wait to get a copy to read the full novel. I will withhold my review from Goodreads until I read the entire novel (not because I expect my opinion will change but because it will skew my reading count) :-)

This is a sports romance with a bit of fake dating and vulnerability, and I enjoyed this story and the characters. Taylor's struggles felt authentic as she navigated her finances, anxiety about going back to school, and her family's expectations. Jamar was facing his own challenges and grief following a sports injury and the loss of his best friend.

I loved the chemistry and banter with Jamar and his bad jokes. They were candid with each other and had great communication and were supportive of one another, even if they had their moments of conflict. I also appreciated the friendship with Samiah and London that carried over from the first book as they push one another to be the best version of themselves.

I enjoyed this one and recommend it. It could be read as a standalone if you haven't read The Boyfriend Project, but I loved that one so you should just pick them both up!

After reading the Boyfriend Project last month, I definitely have been interested in continuing the series. The best part of the start to the series was the female friendship developed between these women. I love that they bonded and made a pact to support one another rather than tearing each other down.
The first few chapter of The Dating Playbook are so appealing! I am anticipating the balance of the read to be just as great.

These first 4 chapters has me ready to read this entire book. I’m hooked can’t and wait to get lost in the entire story.

I enjoy NetGalley previews to read the first few chapters to decide if it is a book I would enjoy. Unfortunately, The Dating Playbook preview did not leave me wanting to read the entire story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the ARC preview!
