NO ESCAPE FROM WAR is the first book in Cynthia Eden’s “Trouble for Hire” series. I love the way that Cynthia Eden takes classic romance tropes and weaves them around a tale of suspense. In NO ESCAPE FROM WAR, Warren “War” Channing is a veteran and general badass hottie, but his weak spot is his ex, Rose Shadow. I’m glad this story is told from alternating perspectives, because both this hero and this heroine believe themselves to be the wronged party in their former relationship. Getting both sides help round out the true picture of what actually happened for the reader. They meet up again when Rose gets in some hot water and is wrongly accused of murder. War is hired to nab her. It’s obvious from almost the first moment they are reunited that they never stopped loving each other, no matter how hurt they are.

Even though the mystery surrounding who the unknown killer is, and who is out to get Rose, is a huge part of this book, Cynthia Eden never lets the central relationship take a back seat in NO ESCAPE FROM WAR. Because War and Rose each believe the other betrayed them in some way, reestablishing trust is crucial in the evolution of their relationship. Although they’re both hurt, I like how they never get too nasty verbally with each other and it doesn’t take long before they make themselves vulnerable again. With a dangerous lunatic hunting them, they must trust and rely on each other for safety and to stop the killer. Cynthia Eden writes some of the best sex scenes, but I think that’s because she does a fantastic job of building the sexual tension and conveying the strength of the characters’ feelings. The sexuality doesn’t have a hollow quality to it like some books by other authors. In addition to expertly building the sexual tension, Cynthia Eden ratchets up the suspense and feeling of danger from the first chapter on. As the reader, you can easily put yourself in the place of the main characters and get that spark of adrenaline as you realize no place is truly safe.

NO ESCAPE FROM WAR is a fab second chance-at-love story mixed in with an enthralling thriller. I like the introduction of War’s friend Odin. I look forward to reading more books in this exciting new “Trouble for Hire” series – or just about anything by Cynthia Eden.

When War is hired by his ex girlfriend’s boss to hunt her down and turn her into the police, nothing gives him greater pleasure. Things are not always what the appear to be. Rose is running but not from the police. Can War find her in time to save her? Hot romantic suspense. A can’t put it down book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Another fun hit by a great author. War, short for Warren, is hired to find his ex-girlfriend who is wanted by the police. Good banter, good sex, and a crazy serial killer thrown in as well. An easy summer read, and one I highly recommend.

This book did it for me. Like seriously, the plot, the characters, the writing. All of it A+

Warren War Channing is a PI who just got his dream plopped into his lap. His cheating and lying ex is wanted by the police for a murder and he’s been hired to drag her in. Sweet, sweet, delicious karma.

Rose doesn’t lie or cheat, so the breakup was pretty bad, considering War thinks she’s done both. And the fact that she still dreams about War really sucks. In fact, everything about her life really sucks right about now. She’s a reporter who got a bit too close to a story and now she’s a person of interest in a murder investigation. And having her ex show up to drag her to jail isn’t exactly high on her bucket list.

When he catches her and she tries to tell her side of the story, he wants to believe her, but…she’s a liar, isn’t she? Until he sees firsthand how bad it is. She really is telling the truth, and maybe she’s been telling the truth all this time. Rose and War don’t realize how much of what has happened in the past was orchestrated by someone else, and when they start to get a glimpse of just how much is going on, and how deep it goes, they know they need to face it together.

What I loved the most about this story is that the Big Misunderstanding is cleared up by about a quarter of the way through the book. We don’t have the feeling of wanting to shake the characters and shout, “Holy crap just have a freaking conversation like adults!” and even better, we don’t realize there even is a Big Misunderstanding until the characters do. It’s genuine, it’s organic, and it feels right to the storyline. Excellent storytelling.

This book was action-packed, full of romance, steam, excitement, and every word was amazing. I look forward to the next book in this series. I will always clear my schedule for a Cynthia Eden book.

NO ESCAPE FROM WAR is the first instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult TROUBLE FOR HIRE erotic, romantic suspense series. This is former US Navy SEAL turned private investigator and bar owner Warren ‘War’ Channing, and journalist/broadcaster Rose Shadow’s story line.

Told from several third person perspectives including Rose and War, NO ESCAPE FROM WAR follows several months after the breakdown of the relationship between former US Navy SEAL and PI Warren ‘War’ Channing, and journalist/broadcaster Rose Shadow’s. Rose Shadow is in trouble-she is a person of interest in the murders of several local women, and has not one but two potential stalkers who are forcing our heroine on the run. Hired to locate our story line heroine, Warren ‘War’ Channing, owner and operators of TROUBLE FOR HIRE Investigations, easily finds the woman he once loved but lets her know that he has no problem turning her in as a potential serial killer. An attack against our heroine finds Warren both protector and guardian, as the hunt for a killer hits too close to home, a serial killer who may have help finding his next victim. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between War and Rose, and the fall-out as our couple is targeted by a killer whose focus is now on our story line couple.

Warren Channing believed Rose Shadow betrayed his love, and with issues of trust, War wasn’t having anything to do with our story line heroine-his inability to forgive led to a growing hate of the woman he wanted to call his forever. Unable to defend herself, Rose was pushed out of Warren’s life knowing that she was innocent of the charges all around but War’s reappearance in her life coincides with the murder investigation that points the finger at our story line heroine, and a potential stalker, leaving our Rose vulnerable to old feelings, feelings she knows will lead her to another broken heart. As War works overtime to protect our story line heroine, the list of potential stalkers and killers begins to climb.

The relationship between Rose and War is a second chance romance; a love destroyed by perceived betrayal and issues of trust. War struggles with his renewed attraction to the woman he believes did him ‘wrong’, and Rose wants nothing to do with a man who is unable to see the truth through the forgery of lies. As War and Rose find themselves on the run, the killer/stalker is always one step behind forcing our couple to look long and hard at potential suspects. The $ex scenes are intimate, seductive and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to fellow US Navy SEAL and War’s friend Odin Shaw; Detective Lynn Slater ; Rose’s co-worker and boss Dylan Nelson, informant Billy, and PI Gary Strom. Odin’s story is next in DON’T PLAY WITH ODIN.

NO ESCAPE FROM WAR is a story of rekindling romance, forgiveness and love; a tale of obsession and hate, power and control. The premise is fast paced, intense and intriguing; the romance is sensual, captivating and intimate; the characters are energetic and emotional. NO ESCAPE FROM WAR is a wonderful and powerful start to Cynthia Eden’s new TROUBLE FOR HIRE.

I love this first book in a new series! War will be your next book boyfriend. Alpha, protective, sexy, and sweet is a hell of a combination. Rose is great as well. Determined, brave, and funny she doesn't make it easy on War. There is a killer out there and it draws these two back together. The chemistry is steamy, the action intense, and so much suspense. The reveal is a jaw dropper. I'm really excited for Odin's book. You meet him in this story and he is very intriguing. Fans are going to love this new series. Ms. Eden has another hit on her hands.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book for an honest review. In a new series by this author - War was in a hot relationship with Rose and it ended badly - War wants nothing better than to forget about Rose but when her news station boss asks War for help in protecting Rose, War can't refuse. I love Ms. Eden's romantic suspense style and the banter between characters is wonderful - can't wait for Odin's story.

There’s no escaping the simple fact that Cynthia Eden writes a well-balanced romantic suspense with humor, heart, and compelling characters. This summer she’s kicking off a new Trouble for Hire series with NO ESCAPE FROM WAR, a sexy, fast-paced thriller that’ll leave you breathless and cheering for a happy ever after for this private investigator and reporter. Nothing makes Warren “War” Channing happier than the thought of exacting revenge on his ex, Rose Shadow, and sending her to jail for murder. Only, when he discovers that she’s on the run from a serial killer she’s been investigating, War stops at nothing to keep the only woman he ever loved safe. Richly developed characters, an engaging plot, and a sexy romance are my takeaways with this story.

No Escape from War is the first book in the newest romantic suspense series by Cynthia Eden and it is the perfect mix of romance, suspense and humor! This is classic Cynthia Eden – Warren “War” is the typical alpha SEAL who will go to the ends of the earth to protect those he loves. Don’t mistake Rose for a shrinking violet though and don’t assume she needs protecting-she’s one tough cookie. This was a thoroughly enjoyable second-chance romance/romantic suspense and a quick read, mainly because I couldn’t put it down – this story moves and has quite a few edge-of-your-seat moments. As usual, No Escape from War was well written with character depth and an interesting, intriguing storyline. Can’t wait to read Odin’s story! I voluntarily read and reviewed and ARC for NetGalley.

No Escape From War the first in the new Trouble for Hire Series by Cynthia Eden. Action- packed plot with steamy chemistry two broken hearted characters find a second chance at love while on the run.

Warren “War” took a little time for me to warm up to which is unusual for one of this author’s characters. Sure Rose Shadow was a reporter and dedicated to her investigations but still her heart had been broken too when they parted. Apparently “Hell hath no fury” is true for men not just women who feel scorned. If you enjoyed the Wilder Security series you will love this one especially when War sees the error of his ways when it comes to Rose.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Crazy About War!!
New series, new characters and another spectacular hit.

Rose Shadow is a reporter after a huge story. She got more than she bargained for.
War Channing is a PI and Rose’s ex. He thinks he wants revenge until all his protective instincts kick in.
Alpha male, Big time suspenseful adventure and some sexy interaction make this a fast paced page turner.

“Have I mentioned how insanely beautiful you are?” “You…you are trying to distract me.”

“I don’t know if I tell you enough, but I think you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life.”

“Oh, God.” She gulped. “You’re going to do something incredibly dumb or dangerous, aren’t you?

I am so looking forward to the next book. Let Oden shine!!

What an exciting beginning to this new duo (hopefully series?). Warren “War” Channing bravely fought as a Navy SEAL and now he must fight for the life and love of Rose Shadows. He owns his own bar and also works as a private investigator for his business, Trouble for Hire. Rose Shadows is a crime reporter and War worries that her career is too dangerous. Due to the clues that a serial killer has been sending her, she has found herself as a suspect in the murders and is on the run. He knows that Rose is not a murderer, but he felt angry and betrayed when he thought she had cheated on him. She never cheated and was hurt by his lack of trust. War insists on becoming her bodyguard while they search for the killer, a killer who is now targeting Rose. Every book that Ms. Eden writes combines strong characters, amazing plots with humor (and sarcasm) interlaced throughout the story, a hint of danger and sensuous and loving romance. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

This is a brilliant start to a new series from an author that always ticks all of the boxes in her romantic suspense reads This one is no exception the perfect combination of action, drama and suspense with some red hot romance thrown in for good measure

Ex navy SEAL and now PI Warren “War” Channing is finally going to get his chance to destroy his ex who broke his heart and by destroy he means throw her lying heart straight into jail for a series of murders What he really finds is that his ex a journalist has tracked down the fact that there is a serial killer that the authorities haven't noticed and he has set her up for the murders When she is almost killed on his watch War will step up to not only keep her safe but help track the killer down and in the process these two will have to admit that they really still love one another Can they leave the past behind and have an new chance at love You will have to read to see

Wow, War is a very jealous man. Unfortunately that's his downfall in this story. Rose is my favorite character. So strong and kickass. She doesn't sit around and wait to be saved, she'll poke you're eyes out first.
