Ruthless Heart by Eve L. Mitchell is a thrilling and passionate read that will captivate fans of sports romance and enemies-to-lovers stories, particularly those who enjoy dark and emotional tales of forbidden love, bullying, and the high-stakes world of professional sports.
Thank you Net Galley and Victory Editing for the ARC, i voluntarily read and reviewed of this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
All Ava want is living her college live in peace. so far she success, she bland so she's not on people radar she didn't want. But all of her plan jeopardy after one mistake, one drunken night and wake up in Jett Santo bed, the QB of The Saints football team. Not just her, but Jett career in jeopardy because that night, and the devil will haunt the cause of this mess.
I love the vibe they giving to me, i feel like i'm back to my college year. The friendship, family, ugh i love it. The Devil they called The Santo boys is not just a nickname, Jett proof it what The Devil can do and make the mayhem, and i like it, it's enjoying to read Jett, Grey and Ash make the trouble as a team. Indeed he's a jerk and Ava more than happy to kick his ass, oh gosh I like it when Jett surprise by what Ava can do. Ava on the other side, strong independent woman who doesn't give a damn about Jett before the night, try to out of his radar but that just make her and Jett colliding even more. And when he know that she is suspect for the reason his career in threaten he sure not letting her go easley.
I love when Jett and Ava in frame together, they can't stop insulting each other but the tension is right there pile up just waiting to be explode, i just hope Ava can bite Jett more when they bickering, it will be more fun to seeing Jett ego bruise. This is first of the series so i know there will be introduce of some character, the scene and the mystery that will be about book two but I need more jett and Ava, and because i'm a sucker for love story i just hope there's more with the last chapter, i just need more of them in one frame because they are so cute !!!

Ruthless Heart is the first book in The Ruthless Devils series and tells the story of Ava and Jett.
Ruthless Heart is the first book I’ve read by Eve L. Mitchell and it won’t be the last one! Ruthless Heart was so addictive, I had to know what was going to happen to Ava and Jett. This book started really crazy, and I couldn’t put the book down. Eve L. Mitchell did such an amazing job with Ava and Jett’s story and I loved their chemistry!
I love how different Ava and Jett are. Jett is such a rich asshole, and Ava is a kind scholarship student. They’re opposites and you know what everyone says: opposites attract! But their story isn’t just your average opposites attract Romance, no, it’s way crazier than that. I also really liked the side characters, I’m really excited for Ash and Gray’s story!
Ruthless Heart was such an amazing and well-written read, and I highly recommend it. I’ve been kind of in a reading slump or a semi-reading slump, and I still managed to finish this book in two days. Ruthless Heart was just that good. I couldn’t get enough of the story and the characters. Ruthless Heart is definitely one of my favourite books of 2021!
I absolutely love enemies to lovers stories. If you do not like this genre then this is not the book for you. There are some bullying elements. This is the first in a series of three interconnected standalone books. There is a bigger mystery to be solved over the three books, while each love story is played out over a single book.
The story is paced great. It felt a little rushed at the end though. This one has dual POV and I can't wait for the next one.
3.75 stars-RUTHLESS HEART is the first instalment in Eve L Mitchell’s contemporary, new adult RUTHLESS DEVILS college, romance series focusing on brothers Jett and Gray Santos, and their cousin Ash. This is college sophomores, nineteen year old Ava Bryant, and football star Jett Santos’ story line.
WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Jett and Ava) RUTHLESS HEART follows the enemies to lovers relationship between college sophomores, nineteen year old Ava Bryant, and football player Jett Santos. A random drug test came back positive, and star college football player Jett Stantos was suspended for two weeks, putting his future professional career at risk. Struggling to understand what happened or why, Jett goes in search of the blonde girl he found passed out in his bed earlier that week. Jett doesn’t do drugs, and in this, our hero, along with his brother Gray, and their cousin Ash, go in search of a stranger he’s about to destroy. Enter college sophomore Ava Bryant. What ensues is the acrimonious and tempestuous relationship between Ava and Jett, and the fall-out as our heroine becomes the target of harassment, bullying, and threats in the face of Jett’s need to destroy her life.
Ava Bryant had no idea what happened the night of the party but waking up in Jett Santo’s bed felt all sorts of wrong especially when she had no memory of what happened the night before. Days would pass where rumors unfolded about Jett’s desperate search for the woman whose life he was about to destroy, and with it, Ava began to question what happened and why.
The relationship between Ava and Jett is caustic and bitter but initially Jett has no idea who was the woman he awoke to in bed. From the outset, Ava and Jett’s introduction is acerbic and bitter, yet Jett has no idea that Ava is the woman whose life he is about to make a living h*ll. From harassment to bullying, physical and emotional abuse, Jett among others, begin to tear down our heroine, in the hopes of destroying and damaging her life. The $ex scenes are dramatic and intense. I want to add, although the author claims there is no non-con (non-consensual ) sex, in my opinion, someone who is drunk and drugged, is unable to give true consent, so there is a grey line as it pertains to the non-consensual element.
In addition, the college teachers and professors begin a campaign against our story line heroine. Ava is presumed guilty because the Santos school legacy takes president over our heroine’s innocence or guilt.
We are introduced to Jett’s brother Gray, and their cousin Ash-all Cardinal Saints College football stars, as well as Jett’s parents; Quinn, close family friend who ensures Ava’s life continues to spiral out of control; Dante Spence, quarterback for the opposing team; and several members of the Cardinal Saints Football team including Derrick, Jamie and Coach Bowers, as well as Ava’s friend Mia, and Wade. Quinn’s story line is next.
RUTHLESS HEARTS is an emotional and melodramatic story of betrayal and revenge, power and control, family and acceptance. The premise is thought-provoking, raw and haunting; the characters are feisty and stubborn; the romance is unconventional and twisted, tragic and raw.
Again, a warning about potential triggers, as the heroine’s treatment is abusive from everyone concerned.
Just a note, because the author is from Scotland, there are few terms that may not be familiar to North American readers.

Boy this was a mess of a book.
Our H, I wanted to punch him throughout the entire book. He is awful to our h. He's vague and condescending and abusive and I'm not here to support a guy who manhandles the heroine. Are we supposed to swooned over this guy? A guy who doesn't even know how to talk with a girl who's attracted to. No thank you.
Now our heroine was okay and I actually liked her but still I couldn't connect with her.
The side characters were also messy and don't get me start with the weird love triangle.
I wanted to like this because it had tropes I enjoyed but the execution wasn't good.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review
Anyone who knows me knows that Bully books are my jam. For that reason I was completely hooked on Ruthless Heart by new to me author, Eve L. Mitchell. I love how the novel opened up and the premise to the story. Jett and Ava were sexy and engaging. I was obsessed with their banter and could not stop reading!
This story had spitfire banter, tension and mean boy behavior. The brotherhood between the Santos boys was amazing but the best part of this story was how fierce Ava was. I could not love her any more than I did. She was fiercely, assertive and strong. I loved her character so much!
Overall, this story was a huge win. I loved seeing Jett and his family support one another, seeing how assertive and strong Ava was and overall the connection between Jett and Ava. It was believable, fiery and addicting. Now I can't wait for more! 4 stars! ~Ratula
This was such a good start to a new series. Jett is a big time Jerk at the beginning, especially to Ava, who gives as much as she receives. I love the chemistry between them though. Now there is mention of date rape drug being used that might trigger someone, but there is not date rape in the story. There is also a side story that they briefly mention, that was really intriguing but I’m guessing we won’t get into details of that until later in the series. Hopefully the next book comes out soon, I can’t wait to see what happens with Quinn and the others.
ne night out, a few rounds of beer pong, and Ava finds herself waking up in a place she would have never went had she been in her right mind. When she wakes to find herself in the den of the campus devil, she knows she needs to get out immediately, he is the kind of trouble she doesn't need. He is a guy she wants no part of, but apparently last she did... why oh why did she drink so much?
Ruthless Heart is enemies to lovers tale that will put a nice little squeeze on your heart. Our heroine finds herself at the mercy of three men who want revenge, and she doesn't have the slightest clue how she wronged them. She had a little slip-up with one of them, but he doesn't seem like he wants to acknowledge it, so she acts like it never happened, which is probably better for her sake anyway. But as much as she tries to dodge them, they are always around wanting answers, answers she can't give, because her memory is a little fuzzy when it comes to the night in question. It's a relentless game of cat and mouse that she is determined not to lose... but first she must shake the lingering feelings she has for said cat!
From the first page this one lured me in and had me hooked... the words were an addiction I just couldn't shake! These perfectly drawn characters were a lot of fun to spend the afternoon with! I found myself quite taken with our feisty heroine right away, but her counterpart took a little time to grow accustom to, he had that campus jerk thing down pat. But little by little he began to win me over! I loved watching them battle at every turn, push each other's limits, and eventually find their way to a happier place. This was an impressive first read by all accounts, it was a creatively penned and emotionally charged story that I couldn't put down! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
When I was reading this book, I thought about how addictive it is. Very easy to read and you can’t stop reading it.
At first, I wanted to give this book 5 stars just because I couldn’t put it down. But after reading some reviews on Goodreads I realized I can’t do that. Because there were things that really bothered me.
First, there was Jett’s rudeness. He met and slept with a girl and after finding out her true identity he was incredibly rude to her. He didn’t give her a chance to explain, in fact, he didn’t even tell her why he’s behaving like that to her and she didn’t have any clue what’s going on. COMMUNICATION!
I was angry at him because his stubbornness to tell her the truth led to him and also his friends being rude to her, to the point of bullying. Attraction or not, this is wrong.
Also, this book included some sort of off-page love triangle between Jett’s brother, cousin, and friend. As much as I would love to hear their story, I feel like the focus of this book was too much on this triangle and love/hate between them than Jett and Ava’s relationship.
[There was also a chapter that included Jett’s breaking and entering Ava’s apartment only to have sex and then leaving. This was so random that it really put me off. He showed up in the middle of the night in her bedroom. WTH? (hide spoiler)]
All in all, I didn’t like his hot and cold attitude, not trusting the girl who was in the same position as he was and him doing stuff he had no right to do just because he couldn’t communicate his feelings..
Nah, I’m giving it 3.5 stars.
I really enjoyed Ruthless Heart, when I first started it though, I wasn't sure that I was going to. Our hero, Jett, doesn't come across as the kind of hero that I usually enjoy. He's full of himself, treats women as though they are worth nothing and is particularly cruel to our heroine Ava. I wasn't sure that he could redeem himself enough to win me over.
In the course of the story, he has plenty to be annoyed about, but that doesn't excuse his entitled behavior. Fortunately, the story was so gripping and entertaining that by the end I had forgiven him, even though he hadn't done as much as I might expect from another hero. Ava also seems to care for him so much, that I couldn't begrudge their romance.
Alongside the romance element of this story, we have the mystery of who has drugged Jett and why. I had a bit of an idea of what was going on but didn't fully work it out by the time we got the reveal. There is also a second suspense element that we are only really treated to glimpses of. It's clear that this storyline will develop more in the books that are still to come. I'm looking forward to finding out exactly what's going on here.
This was a good read and a great start to the Ruthless Devils series. I'm looking forward to the next book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is the 1st in a new series and is Jett and Ava’s story. Jett is a football star, who is out for blood, and in ruthless in his pursuit to find the blonde who has his career in jeopardy. Ava was in the wrong place and the right time and is a witness to something which haunts her. These two are total opposites, and there is a fine line between the hate / love relationship they have going on. This story is revealed in a series of flashbacks to give an understanding to the events which occurred. This is a well written story which flows seamlessly, and is emotionally charged, and with mystery, witty banter, bullying, and is a humorous and entertaining read with engaging and relatable characters. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
5 Stars for this bully romance!
This book had me captivated right from the start and I couldn't put it down. I don't know what I was expecting from this book, but it sure wasn't what I had in mind. They say don't judge a book by its cover ... but in this case you definitely can because it is HOT HOT HOT! I loved how Ava didn't take crap from anyone ... even the Devils. And Jett is such a jerk ... but the kind of jerk that I couldn't help but love. I loved all the characters ... the Devils (Jett, Gray and Ash) and then there is Mia (Ava's roommate) and Quinn (the Devil's friend). The banter was very realistic and the characters were really well developed. Technically this book didn't end in a cliff-hanger, but there is definitely a story going on in the background that will probably carry into the rest of the series ... I love a good mystery. Next up is Quinn's story and I can't wait because there is definitely something there.
Ava wakes up with a huge hangover and in a room she doesn't recognize, but when Jett (the QB on their college team) walks out of the washroom, Ava ducks under the covers pretending to be asleep. Ash (Jett's cousin) comes to wake him up for practice just as Ava bolts to the washroom to hug the toilet ... and all the guys see is her naked butt and her mass of blond hair as they walk out of the room. Once at practice, the team gets random drug testing and Jett fails. Jett swears up and down that he didn't take any drugs, so the coach gives him two weeks to prove it. Now all Jett has to do is find the blond girl that was in his room this morning ... who gave him the drugs, because he doesn't remember a thing. When Ava realizes that she is the blond that Jett is looking for, she is embarrassed and doesn't want her friends to know that she was with Jett. As this could wreck Jett's plan of playing in the NFL, he is out for blood and will stop at nothing to get revenge.
I received an early copy courtesy of Victory Editing NetGalley Coop through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
I really like this book, I don´t know if it’s for everyone, but still worth it if you can handle it.
Three football stars who have it all: looks, money, talent and the world at their feet. No one messes with the Devils. You’re either with them or against them…and you’d have to be stupid to be against them.
Ava isn’t stupid, but one night of being in the wrong place at the right time is coming back to haunt her. One of the Santo boys—Jett—is out for blood. Specifically, her blood. Thankfully, he doesn’t know who she is, and Ava plans to keep it that way.
Sophomore year threatens to stop Jett's progression to the championships and, more importantly, his plan to play in the NFL. All because of some mystery blonde. But he has a plan: find the threat and eliminate the threat. Jett is ruthless in his pursuit to find the girl who threatens his career.
They say there’s a thin line between love and hate, and neither is prepared for the consequences when they cross that line.
This is definitely not a “just romance” story. It’s more like a sexual story between Ava and Jett. They fight, they kiss, the shout each other, they have sex, then they hate each other and all over again. I really dislike Ava in some passages, her character seemed off to me. Is she a library mousse or a fighter? And Jett is the Devil himself and really treats her like garbage. But in a way, they work out. You feel the tension, the attraction, the hate, and finally the relationship (I wouldn´t call it love just yet). The writing is really good and engaging. I’ll be reading the next two books in the series for sure!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Well, the title of this book is really accurate.
Jett Santo, nickname The Devils (together with his twin brother and his nephew), is a real ruthless guy. The Santo's boys basically run the show at their college, while nearly every girl throws herself at their feet. Almost every girl, except Ava, who doesn't want anything to do with them. Especially not after waking up in Jett's bed with a major hangover and no recollection of how she got there. Fortunately, Jett doesn't seem to recognize her, so Ava isn't inclined to tell anyone of her nightly adventure. When the mysterious blonde from Jett's bed is not found, it could cost Jett's career in the NFL. So, he is determined to find her, with all means necessary. And a Santo is not afraid to fight dirty. Because he will eliminate this threat, no questions asked. But what will the Devils do, when they realize that there could be more sides to the story? A very thin line between love and hate, indeed. Four out of five stars from me and I'll be on the lookout for Grey's and Ash' story in the next parts of the Devil series. with a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
Book Review for Ruthless Hearts
Full feature for this title will be posted at: @cattleboobooks on Instagram!
I thought I was in an enemies to lovers romance, but got no romance? I mean, fine they end together, but it didn't make sense, to me at least. The Jett is an asshole, most of the time. He treats Ava poorly and manhandles her. And then I thought the same thing he did, why isn't she mad at him at all? And taking all of the blame herself? Doesn't make any sense. Also there's no emotional connection whatsoever. They got together and he literally flipped a switch. It was out of nowhere. He goes from wanting to get rid of her to wanting her? And I understand attraction, but no emotions were involved. I didn't like him for most of the book actually. She was meh. Didn't develop at all. Somethings were just thrown in there, didn't make sense. And there was a plot point that was never explained. I suppose it will be explored on the next book, but omg I was so stressed because I didn't understand at all what they were doing or why. I think I will continue with the series just because I want answers for that. My favorite character is Ash, hands down. He's the only decent one, I would love to read his book. I don't care much about Jett or Gray.
Normally I'm not really a fan of college set novels. But this one is awesome! A girl meets a guy in a bar, events playout to threaten his chances of getting into the NFL. He is ruthless in his pursuit of this girl who can derail his career. This is book 1 of three, and I am anxious to read the next ones!
I was granted a free book by NetGalley for my free and honest opinion.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author, Eve L. Mitchell, for providing a copy of Ruthless Heart (Ruthless Devils book 1). I have reviewed honestly.
Ruthless Heart features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
○ Bully romance
○ Enemies to lovers
○ College
○ Sports romance
○ Drink spiking
○ Alcohol induced memory loss
My overall rating for Ruthless Heart is…
5 Stars!
This book has left my chest overflowing with joy and love! Bully romances really get the blood pumping with all the anger, sexual tension and steam, but this one also had an intriguing mystery at play that seriously blew my mind when the big reveal was played. Ava is fierce, beautiful and genuinely relatable. Jett is mean and angry, the perfect bad boy to fall head over heals for. I really loved their fiery chemistry as they clashed again and again. Overall, I was so moved by this engaging and emotional tale and I can't wait to read Quinns story next!
P.S. That cover boy does delicious things to my body
This book was my first romance in a long time and it made me want to read more romance which I greatly appreciated. I don't think it was the most well-written but for entertainment purposes, it was good.
