What an addictive read! I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting. It wasn't mind blowing, but the writing was great and got me obsessed.
Writing style: Sometimes you pick up a book and it's written in a way that you can't help but love. You can't quite put your finger on it, but the book is addictive and you won't put it down. That was the writing for me in this book. It was so well-written, which made the average story so much better.
Characters: Everyone was a bit too two dimensional for me. I like my characters with a bit more personality. And no, being an asshole can't be your only personality trait.
Story: The plot was a little messy. I got the overall impression that the author was trying to hard to show and not tell, which didn't always make sense. Sometimes you need to just tell your reader what's going on, because we can't figure out everything on out own.
Romance: This was a great enemies-to-lovers romance, but I did miss the chemistry. And the smut could've been a little less rushed. But the coffee throwing, chasing after, bickering, and overall sexual tension was definitely there.
It was a nice read, but nothing special. So I'm keeping it at three stars.
First book in a new series and things are off to a great start! OMG! This drew me in quickly and there was that instant tension of a drama unfolding. An incredibly well thought out, very original plotline and one I had not foreseen. I turned ever quicker and devoured this- the sign of a gripping, well written read. A captivating, rollercoaster of a book. Loved it. Looking forward to the next instalment!
First, this is a bully romance so be aware of that before reading. With that said, I enjoyed the book once Jett stopped being such a jerk to Ava. He is the reason for the star deduction in my rating. I get why he was jerky to her when he thought she was responsible for drugging him. But once he started to have doubts, I expected him to pull back on the maliciousness and he didn’t. I did not start to like him until about 80% of the book, which is too long to dislike the hero. I really liked Ava though so she made up for my dislike of Jett. Ava sticks up for herself and tried to put Jett in his place. Lastly, there seems to be a subplot with crimes committed in video that I think the author needed to add more detail and time to because right now, the times that the Santo boys investigated houses seems pointless to the many story. I am hoping that the next book adds more to the subplot and look forward to its arrival.
Ruthless Hearts is my first book from this author and also the first book in the Ruthless Devils series.
The Ruthless Devils are three football stars who have it all and no one messes with them.
Ava ends up on the wrong side Jett Santo after a one night stand. Jett believes that Ava is responsible for him being suspended from the football team. He needs to prove to his coach that he can be trusted and he needs Ava in order to do this. Unfortunately for Jett he doesn’t remember who Ava is and she is not about to tell him.
Ava and Jett interact throughout the book and are often at cross purposes.
Their chemistry is undeniable and their interactions are interesting. Sometimes they are funny, but other interactions pull you in emotionally. There is a very intense love-hate relationship in this book that often makes you question how a relationship that is often extremely toxic can have a happy ending.
I can't wait to read book 2 and also more from this author!

I would highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy an emotional roller coaster. It is not for the faint of heart. I personally visually ate up every word and was left bereft when it was over. I am anxiously awaiting the future books.
I was provided a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review.
