This book is the ultimate doggy party planner! It's bursting at the seams with a treasure trove of ideas for your furry friend's special day, from birthday bashes to spooky Halloween shindigs and even Christmas celebrations! And the best part? You don't need to be a craft wizard to make these paw-some projects happen. Simply grab your pup and let the fun begin! I mean, have you seen the Halloween costumes? My little dachshund is going to be the bark of the town thanks to this book!
Life’s a Puppy Party is so fun. What a wonderful celebration of the gift of loving a dog. This is full of wonderful ways to bond and celebrate a beloved animal in so many homes. A creature of boundless love and comfort dogs are forever in my heart as I am a proud dog mom of 5. I wouldn’t trade it for the world and if you live dogs this book is for you 💕
This is a great book for anyone whose puppy is more than just a dog. It is grouped by seasons with ideas for parties, costumes, and toys. I know my pups and their friends will enjoy a fun pool party this summer thanks to the ideas in this book
Super cute book full of ideas to celebrate your pup! I enjoy knowing there's someone else out there like me who lives to spoil their dog as much as I do!
I loved this book! There are so many fun ideas, ranging from food to activities, for pet parents of all diy skill levels. I’m excited to try some of them on our boy’s next birthday. It’s a very fun read!
I received ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I originally started to read this right before my puppy’s first birthday. I was looking for some fun ideas and treats to make and this book fully delivered. It’s just overflowing with cuteness! The pictures are adorable, the ideas are fresh and easy to execute, and the stories are cute.
This is a definite must for anyone obsessed with their canine. Really enjoyed it.
If you need cheering up, Heather Hunt's colorful, whimsical Life's a Puppy Party might be just the ticket. The book is organized seasonally, with ideas from Easter bunny ears to New Year's Eve bow ties for your four-legged friends. Recipes have been vetted (ha) by an actual veterinarian to be safe for dogs, as have the suggested activities. You can even plan a "barkday" party for your pup, with favor bags and cupcakes (sorry, *pup*cakes) for your guests. Charming photographs of the author's Corgi and dachshund as models/celebrants.
This book was ridiculous but really cute and funny. I think I would definitely enjoy making all of this stuff for a puppy party more than my dogs would enjoy the party.
Life's a Puppy Party is so cute and makes the perfect gift to any dog mom and dad! I know we will be adding this to my personal collection for all things to do with my puppy.
Cute ways to spend the different parts of the year with your pup! Includes crafts and recipes. Not just holidays that we know, different seasonal celebrations as well. I could not do the recipes, because my dog is on a special prescription diet, but they looked fun.
Life's a Puppy Party is a silly, whimsical, funny, and often adorable collection of recipes and DIYs for the very best dogs in readers' lives, written by Heather Hunt. Due out 12th Oct 2021 from Simon & Schuster on their Tiller Press imprint, it's 176 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.
This book is full of cute tutorials and instructions for costumes, treats, theme parties, gifts and more all with a canine twist. The recipes are arranged by seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Birthday parties. Tutorials include a description, tools and supplies in a bullet list sidebar, and step by step instructions. Extra tips and alternatives are listed with the directions. Recipe ingredients and tutorial tools and supplies should be easy to source at moderately well stocked grocery stores and craft shops.
The photography is clear and abundant throughout. The author has also included a resource and links lists for sourcing supplies online as well as an index. I loved that the entire book is peppered with adorable pictures of her dachshund (Dave) and corgi (Lizzie) modeling costumes, eating treats, and generally being cute.
Four stars. This would be a good choice for library acquisition, as a gift for friends and family, or for home use.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
As a dog mom, to an 11 year old Terrier-mix, this how-to book made my heart soar. This is perfect for millennials and chic pet parents alike! When we are celebrating my dog, Emmie, there is no expense or creativity spared to make her feel like the most cherished member of our family.
While this is a simple read, there is nothing simple about the adorable easy to follow recipes and ideas to make your pup's tail wag! This book incorporates tons of family friendly ideas that are great for kids to join in on!
As an animal science major, I appreciated the veterinarian note to assure pet parents that the treats are safe and nutritionally sound.
David and Elizabeth are the most photogenic and adorable pups I have ever seen! They deserve all the tummy rubs and treats in the world!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC! I cannot wait to make my fur baby some treats year round and especially, on her birthday! I'm so excited to check the additional resources and shops!
Cute book! Thank you NetGalley for the eARC!
I loved all of the ideas for Puppy Parties! This book is full of cute, easy, ideas for your dog. Yes, the ideas are simple, but that makes it more likely that I would try some of the items found here. The layout of the book was good, and I love all of the pictures of the authors dogs!
What a darling read! As someone who is always looking to celebrate my sweet pup every single day, this book is full of DIY projects, pup-inspired pawty ideas and tasty treat recipes. I love that the book is organized by season and that the recipes include veterinarian notes about the ingredients. And of course, what cuties the pups Dave and Elizabeth are!
A bit of a dud to be honest. Not enough cute dog pictures and the crafts were lackluster at best. I was hoping for more creative ideas or at least instructions for things I'm unlikely to figure out myself. Cutting out a square of fabric and decorating it with fabric paint to make your dog a bandana isn't exactly tough stuff. Ultimately I just think this is all more magazine material than book material.
This is an absolute pleasure to read for dog lovers everywhere! I couldn't stop smiling while reading it. There's so many cute pictures of doggies that stole my heart right away.
In terms of content, the book is written by Heather Hunt, who launched The Dapple (a blog for all things dog). I've followed the blog before and love the content, so I knew that I'd love this book, too.
The book is well laid out, and contains so many fun recipes and activities to do with your dog. I liked that within the intro pages, Heather lays out a short and concise list on what's needed for the DIY projects and the cooking. It makes it easier for the reader to make sure they have these things on hand before diving further info the book, if you can help yourself! Most of the items you'll already have in your kitchen and office, so there's no need to spend a bunch of money on things you'll never use.
The best part about this book, for me at least, was all the pictures of the dogs. But there's also some wonderful content, and each DIY activity and recipe has been well thought out. The recipes are well-laid out and easy to follow. I haven't tried any of them on my dog yet, but I'm planning to try the donut recipe and the wheat free apple dog treats.
I love that the book is set up by season, so the reader can easily navigate to a section according to the time of year, or type of event they're preparing for. There's also a section of 'more resources,' in which Heather gives a list of where she buys the items mentioned throughout the book. Most of these are US retailers, so don't apply to me in Canada, but there are a few I could order from. And if not, there's plenty of dog stores in Vancouver.
This is the perfect gift for dog lovers, and I can't wait until it hits the shelves so I can pick up a few fellow animal lovers.
Craft book - Life's a Puppy Party - is a really cute book with creative ideas for spoiling your family 'fur babies'. There are sewing and cooking recipes - easy options that can be completed by beginners and children. I loved seeing the authors dogs - both are adorable! Through this book, I learned about Heather Hunt's website for dog parents (thedapple.com). Great resource to accompany the book. My favorite in the book is the recipe for dog donuts - I haven't seen that anywhere before and such a cute way to celebrate National Donut Day!
The creator of the fabulous website The Dapple , Heather Hunt, has put together a new book for all of us who love our four-pawed family members. Life’s a Puppy Party! Hunt goes through a year of holiday celebrations and demonstrates how to make fun and dog-safe holiday treats. Many of the items she uses are easily available at your grocery, dollar store or even your own home. Being a non-crafty dog parent, I found most of the craft ideas very easy with clear directions. The photos of her pups are adorable and clearly illustrate each activity. This book is coming out in early December and would be the perfect gift for your favorite pup and their parents.
First of all: awwww. Definitely not something you see every day in a book, but also something I see quite often online. So, a great idea for a book! Unique, modern and relevant. This book has a lot of recipes, so I think that is a strength. I’ve heard of friends paying like $50-100 for doggie cakes..... so just get this book instead and make one 😂
