Thank you to NetGalley for this e-ARC. I offer my review freely.

From the publisher: "When my husband found this perfect little cabin in the woods for our honeymoon, I couldn’t wait to get away. Just us in the middle of the forest, waking up every day in the trees, ending each night in the hot tub under the stars. But now I’m not sure that I know my husband at all…"

I could not put this book down! Not only was it captivating, but the writing had a flow that just kept me going. Great ending.

One note: The whole "I love you." "I can't live without you." "I won't let anything happen to you." It was all a bit much. It's repeated over and over again. I'm a romantic, but this was just over-the-top. Still, I did not think it was problematic enough that I should remove a star.

Kiersten Modglin is a psychological thriller genius. Just Married is an insane and twisted ride that I did not want to end.

Whew! Here we go…. Ryan and Grace are newlyweds headed out for their quiet honeymoon, they will be staying at a secluded cabin. Sounds romantic right?

If only that were true, all hell breaks loose quickly and like every single one of her books…..you have NO CLUE what’s coming.

Someone clearly wants to ruin their newlywed bliss… but who? They are out in the middle of nowhere?!

Holy Moly, this is a great book. I for sure thought I had it figured out about halfway through but I was totally wrong. Such a great, fast and heart pounding read.

5 disturbing stars!

A newly married couple goes on a honeymoon in a cabin in the woods that is remote. Cell phones don't work and they can be totally alone...but are they? Strange things start to happen the first night there and it gets worse. There is also a mind-blowing twist that will leave you shaking your head! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and read it in one sitting. Couldn't put it down!

This book had me hooked from the beginning!!! I totally thought it was going to be about a maniac serial killer or something along those lines......there is a twist I definitely didn't see coming

Do not read this in the dark 🤣. This is my first book from Kiersten but I will be grabbing more for sure. I felt like I was the characters going through this. Like we were their experiencing what was happening. I think that's definitely what made reading this at night creepy!!

Great physiological thriller!!!

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this!

Simply brilliant, this story of Ryan and Grace kept me on the edge of my seat in suspense. These two newlyweds don't get a rainbows and sunshine, happily-ever-after honeymoon. No, what they experienced sent shivers down my spine. In true Kiersten Modglin fashion, my mind was reeling by the shocking twists and psychologically thrilling turns that her story took me on. Exceptional read that deserves more than five stars.

REVIEW –

In Just Married, A perfect loving couple finally plan to go to their honeymoon after six months of their marriage. Even though a little hesitant, Grace is excited to go to their honeymoon as they have enough money for that and don’t have to borrow from Ryan’s rich parents. They reach the place that has everything like how Grace likes. It’s secluded and quiet. Nobody to disturb them. And importantly it’s beautiful. It’s a cabin in the woods.

And also the best place to share each other’s dark secrets.

They spend the their time in love in their jacuzzi tub and sip on wine. The next day, Ryan plans a hike. Even in the hot, thirsty day, Grace is still enjoying the beautiful place. Until, they hear the streams go their to drink water. Instead, find a homeless man. A man who has not trimmed his hairs in a while, his long beard flying in all direction and as skinny as a stick. Grace wants to be as far away from him as she could, but Ryan offers them almost everything they had- food, water, money.

Grace thinks it was insensible of him giving away their things, but Ryan has calmed her anxiouness down. But it rises again when she sees that the man had followed them. But Ryan thinks she was just being paranoid. He could be wrong or right, Ryan doesn’t know himself. Or is Grace right?

They both don’t know what means by the blood-written note they get inside a book – Janie’s dead. You’re next.

Was she really paranoid? Or did she really see him?
What are the things Ryan doesn’t want Grace to find out?
What dark secret Grace is hiding?
Who is the homeless man? Why in the woods?
Will he be the one playing games?
What if they get trapped with no phone lines?

An unexpected twist coming your way. The story’s start wasn’t much captivating to me but when I read that Grace was going to share the dark secrets, it got me interested. I finished this book in less than 2 days. It kept me hanging, desperate to know more. Ryan was annoying at first, the thing he called love was more of a obsession to me. And he really was overseeing things. But until I read the whole book, I got to know how wrong I was. The twist that comes is something no one would expect.

☆I fully recommend this book to you, especially (as author wrote) if you like Gone Girls and Date Night.

What an crazy twisted story! I was absolutely taken away with this intense read. I just NEEDED to keep reading to figure out what in the world was going on! We all think we know the person we married or do we? Doesn't everyone have secrets to hide? Grace and Ryan, the newlyweds in the story, seemed like an ordinary couple, but both of them were hiding mind blowing secrets . As they started their honeymoon at a remote cabin in the woods disturbing things kept happening and escalated until they both were fearful for their lives. As they try to flee the cabin someone's secret is revealed which changes everything. I highly recommend this thriller.

I absolutely love this author, loved the good neighbor, the mother in law and the list, so was excited to see she had bought out a new novel Just Married. I just love the way Kiersten writes. She draws you into the story straight away. The storyline is always so realistic and I can put myself in the characters situation so easily. WOW, WOW, WOW. I absolutely loved this book. It completely blew my mind and I have not been able to stop thinking about it since I finished reading it! I devoured this in one sitting… Magnificent. Keep them coming Kiersten! You just keep getting better and better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was an ok read for me . I enjoyed it and read it quickly so it did hold my attention , however for me the ending did let it down . Ryan and Grace are newly weds who take a honeymoon break in a remote cabin in the woods . We learn early on that they both have secrets in their past and when strange things start happening , phones going missing , windscreen smashed they quickly realise that someone wants to do them harm but who and why . You will enjoy this if you liked Gone Girl for me it was just too familiar . Entertaining though

"𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖."

JUST MARRIED had that distinctive Kiersten Modglin voice, but something was different. With her books, I'm used to them being twisty page turners with gasp-worthy moments, but this story was darker; the characters more deeply flawed and complex.

Ryan and Grace are newly married and are embarking on a belated honeymoon. Soon their secluded cabin hideaway turns into a trip from hell when they encounter a strange man while on a hiking trail. Ryan, eager to be helpful, gives the man food and supplies, but Grace is unnerved and wants to leave. Later, back at the cabin, a series of puzzling and increasingly frightening events have the couple in a fight for their lives, with each one realizing that both have been keeping secrets from the other.

What I love so much about Kiersten's stories is that she follows the trademark of one of her favorite authors, Mark Edwards. Just like him, she puts ordinary people into dangerous situations. In just over 200 pages, you get realistic characters, an unbelievably twisty plot, and a satisfying ending every single time.

Finally, she and I both love and adore Lois Duncan, and I think my favorite thing about this book were the many references to her. I wish she could have read it because I know she would be proud!

Beg the publisher for an ARC or settle in with her impressive backlist and wait for July, but you CAN'T miss this one!

A read to put you on the edge of your seat! Grace and Ryan are taking a belated honeymoon in a cabin in the woods. A perfect getaway from it all and a chance to relax. Grace wants to talk to Ryan about a couple of things and this could be the relaxed setting they need. When they meet a hobo in the woods who doesn't say a word to them they think it odd but give him some food and money and move on. Grace then sees a shadow, an outline of a man. Is her mind playing tricks? When a chilling note is left in a book on the doorstep and a rock through their windscreen also has a message on it, the couple realise there is more going on than they could ever have imagined. OMG! This drew me in quickly and there was that instant tension of a drama unfolding. An incredibly well thought out, very original plotline and one I had not foreseen. I turned ever quicker and devoured this- the sign of a gripping, well written read. A captivating, rollercoaster of a book. Loved it.

A big twist in the end.
When my husband found this perfect little cabin in the woods for our honeymoon, I couldn’t wait to get away. Just us in the middle of the forest, waking up every day in the trees, ending each night in the hot tub under the stars. But now I’m not sure that I know my husband at all…
I just wish we’d gone to the police when someone left a note on the doormat saying: She’s dead, you’re next. Ryan said I was overreacting, but I don’t understand why he won’t go to the cops now things are getting worse. Can I trust my husband?
I’ve known about the terrible thing that Ryan did for years and it’s been tearing me apart. Last night I told him I would always keep his secret. But is the man I married hiding something else from me?
It was a good read. I definitely recommend it. I loved it's characters and Narration.
I'm doing more promotion on its release date among my fellow Authors Bloggers Friends and followers.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy of this psychological thriller.

I received a copy of this book for free, and I leave my review voluntarily.

Kiersten Modglin is an Amazon Top 30 bestselling author of award-winning psychological suspense novels and a member of International Thriller Writers. Kiersten lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband, daughter, and their two Boston Terriers: Cedric and Georgie. She is best known for her unpredictable suspense, and her readers have dubbed her 'The Queen of Twists.'

“There was no way out.”

Grace Duncan lives a quiet, safe life. She was recently married to Ryan. And together, they are starting their lives. Except they both have secrets. Deep, dark, dangerous secrets. And they would both prefer those secrets to stay hidden. So when Ryan decides it’s time for the pair to take their honeymoon, Grace has a few reservations but ultimately agrees it’s time. A secluded cabin in the woods screams romance.

Hi-yah. This was a ride. I’ve read all of KMods books to date, and just when I think I’ve figured her style out whack. The twists inside this book are absolutely insane. This is a brilliantly devious story, with more twists and turns and epic reveals- Kiersten has truly upped her game in the most incredible way.

I had a love/hate relationship with the main characters, Grace, and Ryan. I had moments when I really liked who they were and moments when I didn’t, which is such a classic move from KMod. She knows how to weave incredible characters, so dynamic and full of surprise. Yet, like the ultimate puppet master, she knows how to show just how human they can be- how deeply dark and wicked their desires are.

The descriptions of the cabin were stunning. It was so easy to visualize the isolation, the trees, the shadows, the fear. The cabin comes to life as its own character in a way. The way Kiersten writes the cabin and surrounding woods are beyond beautiful. You can almost feel the cool, crisp air and smell the trees.

I loved the plot in this novel. The twists came so suddenly, and I think I have whiplash. I have long given up trying to guess the endings in Kiersten’s books, and she gets me every single time. But I would have never guessed this ending. Holy buckets. Just when I thought the floor had dropped from under me and that I knew which way was up- another layer got ripped away, leaving me speechless.

This book indeed shows how incredibly talented Kiersten is, what an incredible storyteller she is. The way her mind creates these tales and the execution is flawless. This was the scariest book I’ve read so far, in 2021.

Everything about this book is captivating. This novel is impossible to put down. I downloaded the arc this morning, and by this afternoon, I had finished. The rollercoaster was intense, the twists and turns unexpected, and the element of surprise insane.

This is KMod at her best, yet I’ve said that in every book. This means she is just getting better with every sordid story she releases. Her imagination clearly knows no bounds- and this is a honeymoon to remember.
