Ryan and Grace decide to go on their postponed honeymoon, and rent an isolated cabin in the woods. It's great for privacy, but sometimes you can be too isolated, as they find out when they meet up with a homeless man who seems to be camping in the woods. Soon after their meeting, their car is vandalised and an old book is left on the cabin porch with a strange warning scribbled on the first page: "Janie's dead. You're next!'". Grace begins to wonder why her husband isn't as worried as she is and why he is reluctant to go to the police.

I read this in in a day, it's so good. Dark, twisted, with one heck of twist two-thirds of the way through that turns the reader's perspective on its head. I'm going to have to check out this author's back catalogue.

Thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Bookouture, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

Thanks NetGalley, Bookouture and Kiersten Modglin for an ARC to review.
A fast paced hooking page turner, I actually devoured it in one sitting. Full of unexpected twists till the very end.
Newly married Grace and Ryan head to a picture perfect cabin in the woods for a delayed honeymoon.
Soon after their arrival strange things start happening that spooks Grace preventing her from relaxing and enjoying their vacation.
My first book by the author though definitely won't be my last.

Just Married by Kiersten Modglin is listed as a psychological thriller which I can see, mostly. I thought that this one had a touch of a horror vibe to it too though as it was rather creepy at times being one that you may not want to read after dark.

Grace and Ryan are a young couple who married six months earlier but had to postpone taking a honeymoon at the time. Ryan has found a cabin for rent that he thinks would be the perfect getaway with privacy and beautiful surroundings.

After arriving Grace and Ryan are enjoying their time away and their time with each other until they take a walk in the woods and come across a homeless man camping. Grace is immediately concerned with their safety but Ryan is sure he is harmless. But when things begin to happen near the cabin Grace is sure the man is responsible.

Just Married is the first book I’ve picked up from this author and boy was I glad I did. This one was incredibly tense and chilling and I couldn’t stop reading after I started. I always enjoy when there are plenty of twists in a novel but I think it’s even more fun when I finished thinking forget the twists, that was just twisted period. If this one had been a bit longer with a little more depth it probably would have been five stars but it was still great at the shorter length leaving me to rate this at four and a half stars.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

This is my first book by Kiersten Modglin and it is true what people say! It was a fast paced thriller from the first page. I loved that it was a good story line with strong characters that was fast paced without feeling rushed. It was a true thriller that kept me guessing. I definitely recommend!

A honeymoon away from it all, sounds like bliss, right?

Wrong!!!!

Grace and Ryan have been married for 6 months and are spending their honeymoon in an isolated cabin in the woods. Should be a romantic time, but then things begin to start happening which shatter their plans. Are these things just bizarre one offs perpetrated by local teenagers or is someone trying to scare them? Would you go to the police when you receive a note or have your windshield broken? Would your secrets keep you from acting logically?

This was a fast paced, clever book, with some twists along the way! It does not take long before things start happening and we get both Grace and Ryan’s IPOV throughout the book. This helps move the book; along and to entice readers into trying to figure out the secrets of the main characters.

I enjoyed the trapped claustrophobic feel of the book. Several times throughout, I was shaking my head at the main characters. This is a book; that can easily be read in one day. It is enjoyable and kept me on my toes.

Clever, fast paced, read!

Every couple has secrets. Some are shared between them. Others are not.

Grace is the only person who knows her new husband Ryan’s big secret. It’s what brought them together as a couple, and it’s what would destroy him if she ever told. Although Ryan worries her silence won’t last, his extreme love for her overrides his fear of being exposed. He’s obsessed only with making Grace happy. However, little does Ryan know that his bride has secrets too — dangerous secrets that could change everything.

As much as Grace loves Ryan, she’s finally ready to reveal what she’s been hiding. Their honeymoon trip to a cabin in the mountains is the perfect time. But when a homeless man they encounter in the woods begins to stalk and threaten them soon after their arrival, there’s no longer time for romance or revelations. Isolated and afraid, their focus becomes solely on finding an escape. For reasons Grace can’t understand, Ryan doesn’t want to go to the local police for help. But as the madman makes his murderous intentions clear, Grace knows that it’s do or die.

Gripping, menacing, and filled with tense moments that’ll have your breath stuck in your throat, “Just Married” is a book full of secrets — with a huge secret of its own. Author Kiersten Modglin is the queen of twists, and she proves why with this startling, suspenseful tale. Despite developing a compelling storyline in the first part of the book, Modglin chucks the path she’s on to throw in a twist so huge that it takes the story in a completely new direction. Doing this doesn’t work well for all books. Think Terryn Fisher’s “The Wives” – at least, in my opinion. But it works like magic for Modglin and “Just Married”.

Told from both Ryan and Grace’s point of view, “Just Married” is fast moving without a single lull in the storyline. Unease and suspicion quickly ratchet into tension, terror, and heart-pounding suspense as you race through the chapters. It’s a book that can make you forget to eat or drink. It’s a book that will make you forget to breathe. You’ll jump at any shadows you see outside your window, that’s for sure.

“Just Married” by Kiersten Modglin is a psychological thriller most will love, but it’s also one that will make you think. Can a marriage survive secrets, even when the secrets directly involve the marriage? And when secrets are revealed, can they make a relationship stronger? Or do they permanently alter the dynamic between a couple? You’ll have to read the book for yourself to find out the mind-blowing way Grace and Ryan’s marriage changes after secrets come out. It’s another twist in a book full of them.

Your first year of marriage is supposed to be perfect right? BUT…what if you are keeping a secret from your new husband? And even worse…what if the secret you are keeping has to do with the secret you know he is keeping from you?

“What are you thinking about?” he asked, interrupting my thoughts. The truth? What I was always thinking about this time of night. The thing that haunted me. My answer? “Nothing really… What about you?”

Twists and turns don’t even begin to describe this book. Just when you think you get to the part of “this is it,” another big twist hits you smack in the face. Kiersten Modglin does such a fantastic job of keeping you on your toes in this heart pounding page turner. Chapter 20 throws you for the biggest loop. You think you are reading a completely different book and it’s not until the last little bit of the book that you figure out how it all connects. What does till death do us part really mean?!?!?

I’ve seen this author shared on Bookstagram and finally decided to give her a try. She has many thrillers to choose from and I actually really enjoyed this one. ⁣

Grace and Ryan decide to spend their honeymoon at a remote cabin in the woods. Strange things happen from the moment they arrive at this cabin and Grace is completely on edge (which in turn had me on edge). Ryan insists they stick it out and enjoy their break, but Grace is adamant that they pack up and leave. Before they can agree on what to do, someone else makes sure they won’t be going anywhere. ⁣

Wow- I truly was creeped out reading this one and nervous for this couple. This book has multiple twists that you won’t see coming. If you’re looking for a quick and fast paced thriller, I recommend picking this up. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this advance reading copy. This book will be available 7/5/21.

PLOT TWIST OF THE YEAR!!! Stunned, speechless, head-shaking CRAZY! At one point (chapter 20), I thought I was reading a different book. Kiersten Modglin did a fantastic job connecting all the dots and delivering a heart-pounding plot twist that will literally have your heart beating from your chest. But wait… just when you think she’s done… watch out because the twists keep coming. Right up until the very last page! WOW! So many stars for this reviewer!

WOW!

Can I leave a one word review?

When I read the blurb and saw this was a fast paced thriller, that got me interested. After reading the first few pages of the book I was hooked. Yes, it certainly is fast paced and had me page turning so I couldn’t wait to finish reading it to see where it was going. Totally unexpected twists, brilliant writing, believable characters and it left me wanting to read more from Kiersten.

Grace and Ryan go on a belated honeymoon to a secluded log cabin, which turns out to be the honeymoon from hell when they receive threats which appear to be from a man they met in the woods soon after they arrived.

Both Grace and Ryan are keeping secrets from each other and neither want to expose the truth about their past. Once these lies are uncovered the plot just gets even better with more twists.

If you are after a creepy psychological thriller which will have you on the edge of your seat, then this is for you!

Many thanks to netgalley, the publishers and the author for an arc. I am really happy to have discovered a new favourite author.

5 stars all the way!

Grace and Ryan go on a belated honeymoon trip to a secluded cabin in the woods. The place is perfect, but it quickly turns out that they are not alone and that their lives might, in fact, be in danger.

The beginning of the story had an American horror movie vibe, and I was a bit sceptical about it, but as the story progressed, the feeling dissipated.
It was a fast-paced, gripping, and suspenseful read, and the twist left me literally open-mouthed.
What stopped me from giving it a higher rating was the ending, which was a bit too far-fetched for my liking. I also found the male character slightly annoying; he kept repeating over and over how much he loved his wife and how much she meant to him.
Overall, though, it was a creepy and entertaining read, and I will be definitely reaching for other books from this author.

✨Book Review: Just Married by Kiersten Modglin✨

📖: Grace and Ryan have been married 6 months and decide to finally go on their honeymoon. Ryan books a quaint cabin in the woods and Grace is smitten. However, their trip takes a turn and they are suddenly fearing for their life when their cabin is being attacked by someone from the woods. Grace knows Ryan’s secrets and is wondering if she can trust him in the heat of the moment… but can anyone be trusted?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: WOAH! I was hooked from the first page! This story was addictive! The characters were all so secretive and sneaky. I wasn’t a fan of how clingy Ryan was but Modglin did that on purpose and it worked out flawlessly! I really felt the fear Grace portrayed and I got the heebeegeebees at one point in the story. It was dark and creepy and just the perfect thriller. The details were so well thought out that I felt like I was watching it in a movie instead of just in my head. And that twist… 🤯😱😳 This is my first book by Kiersten and I’m most definitely looking up more!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy.

Ryan and Grace go to this very secluded cabin for a belated honeymoon. After seeing a homeless man in the woods on one of their hikes strange things start happening.

The actual plot is good. The plot twist is great. The cheesy dialog between the characters made me cringe. Do couples really talk like this? I didn’t enjoy the book until the actual plot twist and that’s the only thing that saved the book for me.

Ryan and Grace are married but have bot gone to honeymoon. Ryan found a perfect little cabin in the woods and they go. They are having good time till they found a note saying: She’s dead, you’re next. Everyone would be scared. But our honeymooners are more afraid of something else.

Than the story begins to complicate. And it is good. Both has secrets and both are hiding something. Who is stronger? Who knows more? Who you can trast?

I guess nobody. I loved the novel and the twists. It is all about this. I can not wait to read some more from this author. This copy was given to me on Netgalley.com. Special thanks to Bookouture that belived in me.

I found this author from a Facebook group I am a member of and have read a couple of her books and each one has been captivating. I hope to read all of her books, they are that good!

Ryan surprises his wife with an overdue honeymoon in a secluded cabin in the woods. Unbeknownst to them, this cabin has a history. Or was this known when it was booked? Around town, it's called "the murder cabin" because 2 previous guests died under suspicious circumstances and the killer was never found.

Then the next day, after a hike and running into a homeless man, their romantic honeymoon turns into a nightmare.

Ryan and Grace are holding secrets from the other. Secrets that could become deadly.

I could not put this book down. Eerie twists and turns that will have the hairs on your neck standing up. A chilling, page turning read!

Check this author out. I guarantee you will be hooked.

Grace and Ryan finally head off for their honeymoon by renting a cabin out in the middle of the woods. Ryan is convinced this cabin will meet all the needs of his new wife and her anxiety. However, quickly into the trip, they meet a homeless man in the woods and strange things begin happening around the cabin. Will Ryan and Grace be able to survive?

This book started really slowly for me. I had a hard time getting into it. It does pick up eventually if you keep at it, however I found the ending to be predictable.

Kiersten Modglin does it again! She is such a talent writer all of her book twists are just 👌🏼🔥 they get you and you didn’t really see it coming. She always gets me and hooks me with the prologues. This one made me stop reading at night because the suspense was starting to scare me and I needed to wait until morning to continue. I highly recommend this read and all of her books. This is my 6th read by her and she never lets me down! She’s definitely an auto buy author for me!

Ryan and Grace take a belated honeymoon in a log cabin in the Smoky Mountains,, Tennessee. It's a beautiful, tranquil setting, but on their first walk in the forest they encounter the threatening figure of a ragged, silent man...
This is one of those stories where danger is everywhere. The only trouble is you're not sure where it's going to spring from next. It's definitely an edge of the seat read with chills-a-plenty. Right from the beginning there are problems, with no wifi signal available. Then alarming things begin to happen. Is it down to high spirited youths or is there something more sinister going on? And are the locals really as helpful as they seem?

The events at the cabin are, however, only one part of this read. The other is about historical lies and secrets the couple are keeping from each other. All of which come to the surface and add another layer of suspense to the story.

A gripping read that twisted its way from start to finish.

My thanks to Kiersten Modglin, Bookouture and Netgalley for an ARC of Just Married in exchange for an honest review.

Just Married is a twisty thriller that I never saw coming!

The story is about newlyweds Grace and Ryan. They didn’t go on a honeymoon when they were married but Ryan found the perfect remote cabin that he thinks Grace will love. The first night there they go and enjoy the hot tub and somehow get locked out of the house. The second day they run into a homeless man by the lake and Grace is certain he will try to harm them. Then Grace finds a library book on the front porch that says, “Janie’s dead, you’re next”. From there they experience a broken windshield and someone on their porch. Grace knows that Ryan did something in his past he thinks he has hidden from her. But Grace knows, could this be about that?

This was a really clever, fast-paced psychological thriller. Lots of twists and turns that will leave you in disbelief right up until the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this eGalley.
