Just Married is a twisted 5 star psychological thriller that you will easily devour in one sitting. Ryan and Grace are newlyweds!! They decide on a last minute getaway and their life as they know it becomes very complicated!!!!
The story unfolds in an isolated cabin in the woods. Grace and Ryan both have secrets and as the chapters progress you are left at the edge of your seat wondering where the story will take you. Filled with twists in a creepy atmosphere this book will keep you guessing until the final page.
As always Kiersten Modglin does not disappoint and I highly recommend adding this thriller to your to be read list. A special thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for sending me an electronic copy of Just Married for my honest review!!

A young couple, Ryan and Grace, decide to take a honeymoon 6 months after their wedding day. They go to an isolated cabin. Strange things start to happen. A library book left near the cabin door, a smashed windshield on their car with a warning and slashed tires. Kiersten Modglin has done it again. I could not stop reading. An ending that I never would have guessed. More like 10 stars.
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book started off slowly, alternaterating between the POV of a newly married couple, but picked up very fast. I burnt through this book in one evening, desperately trying to get to the ending, to figure out what happened, I didn't guess correctly at all, and there was several twists after twists.
Surprised by this book in a good way.
Well, I've set a personal book-related record this year....drum roll...I've read 3 books by the same author in less than 1 month! This is my 3rd book by @kierstenmodglinauthor courtesy of @netgalley and @bookouture. And it was just as delightful, twisty, dramatic, spooky, atmospheric, and can't-put-downable as the other two! 🥳 I'm basically going to be binge reading all of Kiersten's thrillers for the next few months 🤗. Newlyweds Grace and Ryan go to a cabin in the woods for a relaxing unplugged honeymoon. But shortly after arriving to what is supposed to be paradise, weird things start happening. Told from alternating POVs, we watch their marriage get tested and the trust between them start to crumble. Grace knows Ryan's terrible secret but hasn't had a chance to tell him yet. As things get progressively worse and it's clear someone is targeting them, each is wondering what secrets the other is carrying and whether they'll soon be testing "til death do us part."

WOW! WOW! WOW!
My first novel by author, Kiersten Modglin. One reviewer described her as “the Queen of Twists”.
WHAT?
I call myself an avid psychological thriller fan and I have not read this author.
How have I missed her?????
I guarantee that will change!!
Story is about Grace and Ryan who are newlyweds and have been married for 6 mos. They did not go on a honeymoon as they were saving their money to do a one year anniversary honeymoon celebration.
Ryan decided that perhaps they should take their honeymoon now and get away from daily responsibilities. Although Grace is apprehensive about travel she likes that Ryan picked a secluded cabin deep in the woods. They can be together with no work responsibilities.
Their first night they are enjoying the outdoor hot tub on the patio but when they return to the house, they discovered they are locked out. They spend the night on the patio however, in the morning when the try the door it is no longer locked. Hmmm
The next day while on a hike they find a homeless man; later Grace sees this same homeless man in their yard. Grace is now a nervous wreck but the library book on the front porch with a note
“Janie’s dead, you’re next”
This totally has her nearly off the edge!
We find out that both Grace and Ryan have secrets ~
I am ~
Oh Hum ~Piece of cake ~ got it!
Ha-ha Yep! I was soooo wrong!
Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for this eGalley. This file has been made available to me before publication in an early form for my honest professional opinion.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for July 5, 2021
‘Just Married’ is a true heart-in-your-mouth thriller which I couldn’t put down. I lapped up the US location too. Gorgeous cabin in the forest? Yes, please. Who wouldn’t want to honeymoon in such an ideal location? But this tale isn’t an advert for the ideal wedding show. It’s a full-throttle thriller.
I loved the tension, the fear, and the unknown; I think that was the most terrifying aspect of the book. I also really enjoyed the perspectives of Ryan and Grace. I got to see everything from each point of view and was left trying to work out their couple dynamics.
This is for book fans who like a nail-biting read that will have them glued to the pages. The first chapter is explosive and once you’ve started, you won’t be able to stop!
Brilliant plot with lots of twists and turns and some very messed up characters! My heart raced every time I began to figure it all out!
Really fast paced & short book that would pull you in right away. With snappy chapters that would leave you with more questions than answer, I’d say this book can call itself a page turner.
I gave it 3 stars because while I think the plot twists are clever and I am a sucker for twists like these even if I saw one of them coming, I do think that some of the parts of the book especially the actions of the characters seems a bit unbelievable. Not the biggest issue, I still enjoyed my read and would definitely read more from this author in the future.
* I requested this book from NetGalley so thank you for the approval to read.
I gripping psychological thriller of a marriage that goes far deeper than love for each other. I found this enthralling but some parts I felt were a bit over the top with the gushing love, though I can see why this was needed when I got to the end. The ending you won't see coming but I can also see it as a opening to another book.
Kiersten never disappoints! Without giving too much away - excellent psychological thriller with a <chef's kiss> ending! I love an unreliable narrator, and I love a little mental warfare. Unlikeable characters? Sure. I'll keep reading everything she puts out!
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (I liked it!)
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the e-arc!
SUMMARY:
Grace has bad anxiety, so when her husband plans a quiet getaway in the woods for their honeymoon, she is grateful for his thoughtfulness. Once they arrive, more and more things happen that make them think they are being watched and targeted. As the week goes on, both of their past comes back into the light and they realize that they might not know each other as well as they thought they did.
MY THOUGHTS:
🌲Kiersten is definitely the queen of unexpected and twists! I love her plot driven, fast paced novels. This is my second one and they're clearly all on the same level! However, perhaps this one was a little too unbelievable for me, until I got to the end and just realized crazy married crazy.
🌲 I've never been afraid of the locked room in a rented house, but now I am...
🌲 This one was written as one story first, then the last bit was a (sort of) separate story, rather than alternating the past and the present, which allowed for maximum twist.
This was brilliant, I loved every second of it. A huge thanks to Netgalley & Bookouture for this advanced copy, this hits shelves July 5! And trust me, get this one preordered or on your library holds!
Newlyweds, Grace & Ryan retreat to a remote cabin in the woods for a late honeymoon. What they don’t know is this is the sight of two grisly murders. When little things start to seem off around the cabin, the couple begin to fear they aren’t alone in those woods.
Dive into this one, it will trap you from the first chapter. I am so excited for this to come out, it’s going to be a huge success!
Have you read a book by this author before? I discovered her last year and have been making my way through her books ever since. Whenever I feel kinda slumpy or when I need a guaranteed fast paced and exciting thriller I know I can grab one of her books because that’s exactly the type she consistently writes. All of that to say, if you haven’t read her before she has an extensive backlist and she comes out with new books several times a year, I swear she’s a writing machine, but I’ve totally enjoyed every book of hers I’ve read thus far!
I love an atmospheric thriller and this one delivers, the isolated cabin in the woods was eerie and then add in the creepy things that keep happening to Grace and Ryan and you have a chilling read. This was a fast read, both because it’s under 300 pages with short and snappy chapters, but also because things unfold so quickly you can’t bear to put it down. As always I didn’t see the twists coming ahead of time and I was definitely surprised by the direction this took, lots of secrets and lies and plenty of darkness as well, overall everything I want in an entertaining thriller.
I’ve read hundreds upon hundreds of thrillers, 56 so far in 2021 alone and I can count on one hand the amount that have actually frightened me. This one is officially on that list! I read this during a 7+ hour road trip and it had me so spooked that when we stopped at a rest stop (late at night) I begged my boyfriend to pee outside the car instead of leaving me alone with the dog to go inside! This book was soo well written and captivating. Loved every second of it and looking forward to reading more from the author! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this pre-release in exchange for my honest review!!
Ryan and Grace start their belated honeymoon and is it ever the nightmare. Grace is the anxious and timid character while Ryan is the loving hunk and I am immediately annoyed at the tropes but I keep going as I know Modglin has twists and turns in store for us. I read this in a few hours and they were well spent. While I guessed one or two turns I did not expect the explosive ending and was satisfied beyond words!
My first book by this author and I am completely dumbfounded, speechless and i cant think of anything else other than WOW. I need to read more books by her it seems.
The Marriage was filled with twists and turns that gave me chills so there was no way i could stop until i finished it.
I trusted noone from the first page. Yes, the characters felt real but they all had issues and it was hard to figure out who was the villian. Definitely characters you love to hate.
No matter how much you think you know, you will not be able to determine what is about to happen.
I highly recommend
Thank you to NetGalley, Boukouture and Kiersten Modglin for the opportunity to review this ARC. This review and all opinions are my own.
Kiersten Modglin is the queen of good twists! Just when I think I’ve discovered the shocking twist, I’m wrong and there’s something else going on. Just Married is creepy, full of complex characters, & weaves together different events to create one amazing thriller! I will be telling everyone about this book!!
“Trust me, babe. No one can see us out here.”
...how wrong I was.
This was freaking un-put-down-able. Why have I never read from Kiersten Modglin before?! This fast paced thriller sounds like your run of the mill domestic thriller but man, oh man, that is such a false assumption. Five effing stars.
My first book by this author and I was blown away. If every story by her is this good, then I certainly missed out on a lot. Never too late to go back though and I keep my eyes wide open so I don't let the next book slip through my fingers.
It was good from the very first page on. The chills never stopped running down my spine. I really had no idea who I had to believe or to trust. Is it him who is the creepy one or is it her?
I had not the slightest inkling when I started the book where it would take me, but I never imagined it would go there. It was just totally brilliant.
When you finally think you know who has the upper hand, well... it seems you don't or do you?
You always better watch your back. Someone might have seen you even if you are convinced nobody did... You could use it to your advantage or it could be the beginning of your downfall.
Anyway, this is a story I will not forget easily. I loved the surprises. 5 stars
Thank you

Grace is aware of a secret of Ryan's and she is hoping this holiday will ge the correct time for the story to come out. But someone is watching them. The beginning of this book had me on the edge of my seat, it was spooky and scary, There were plenty of twists and turns all the way through. A steady read
