HOLY SMOKES GUYS, this is one for the books! If you are a suspense or thriller lover at all- you must read this one! The twist at the end literally made my jaw drop! Newlyweds Grace & Ryan go to a cabin in the woods for their honeymoon to enjoy some R&R but they are both carrying their own secrets. Will their secrets destroy their marriage or bring them closer together?
This one comes out July 5th & you need to add it to your summer reading list! Thank you to @netgalley, @kierstenmodglinauthor, & @bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Just Married by Kiersten Modglin is my first read from this author, and I can say with all honesty that if this is indicative if her writing skills, Ms Modglin has found herself a place on my TBR. You will want to add this one to yours as soon as possible.
Grace and Ryan have found a secluded cabin in the woods where they are spending a long-awaited honeymoon. But when a threatening note materializes, and other ominous happenings begin to transpire, Grace wonders just how much she can trust her husband, a man whose secrets she knows all too well. Suddenly, the idyllic honeymoon becomes the couple's worst nightmare, and knowing who to trust becomes a matter of life and death.
I read this one straight through, barely pausing to catch my breath. Just when you think you have it all worked out, you will be stunned by what happens next. 4.5 stars
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.
If you want a super twisty, roller coaster of a book then you will want to get your hands on Just Married by Kiersten Modglin. Whew! What a tremendously wild ride this book was as you wondered who you could trust. Pretty much no one.
Check it out:
I just wish we’d gone to the police when someone left a note on the doormat saying: She’s dead, you’re next. Ryan said I was overreacting, but I don’t understand why he won’t go to the cops now things are getting worse. Can I trust my husband?
I’ve known about the terrible thing that Ryan did for years and it’s been tearing me apart. Last night I told him I would always keep his secret. But is the man I married hiding something else from me?
Now someone has cut the phone lines and we’re trapped here. Ryan swears he has no idea what’s going on and just wants to keep us safe. I’m here alone in the middle of the dark forest with the man I thought I could trust. My heart is racing and there’s no one I can call…
My husband promised till death do us part. Am I about to find out what that means?
I cannot wait to read more from Kiersten! Get this on July 5th.
So, Grace is definitely quite the character in this novel. She thinks she sneaky and she was up until the end. I have to give it to her, she’s definitely patient though. Very, very patient and her meticulous planning skills are crazy precise! Everything she did had a purpose.
The first several chapters, I was scared. Like suspense scared. Half way through the book, I thought maybe she had split personality or mpd or something! But that would be no too.
Ryan, I felt bad for him as the book progressed but only bc of the baby situation. He really was/is in love with her. Even after it was revealed that he knew EVERYTHING and yet still married that crazy lady… and then that’s where my “felt bad for him” dissipated. He’s just as deviant as his wife.
ARC copy for honest review
I found this slow to start with and just as it picked up with the connection between Grace and Janie, it fell back again and none of the two main characters were likeable by their previous actions and reasons for meeting up. Having said that it’s probably just that I couldn’t connect with this story and I would like to read a few more of her books . I would like to thank the publishers and Netgalley for letting me have the book to read the opinions expressed are entirely my own views and are completely unbiased.
A very suspenseful psychological thriller, which will have you on the edge of your seat. Well written with good character development. Kiersten never disappoints. The twists in this book will blow your mind. Never saw them coming. After reading this book, you may have second thoughts about honeymooning at a secluded cabin in the woods. Do you really know your spouse? You may be surprised what you discover and what secrets they hide.
Can you love and hate a person at the same time? Recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary honest review.
I don’t have to tell you how much I enjoy Bookouture novels. They have yet another hit on their hands with “Just Married”.
I’ve not read any of Kiersten’s other works, but I am definitely going to try and get my hands on some of them. I’ve seen her called “The Queen of Twists”, and I must say this is very accurate just from my reading of only one of her novels! There are more twists and turns in Just Married than on a country road!
The plot was well thought out and very fast paced (which I LOVE in thrillers – I get bored otherwise), and the writing excellent. With all the twists and turns, I wasn’t sure what to expect by the end… and this is coming from someone who is usually VERY good at guessing the endings to novels.
I highly recommend this novel if you enjoy fast-paced, twisty thrillers.
Thank you to NetGalley, Boukouture and Kiersten Modglin for the opportunity to review this ARC. This review and all opinions are my own.
Just Married is the book equivalent of a cliche teenage film, but with a married adult couple playing the idiots.
I found myself seeing how much book I had to go; not because I didn’t want it to end, oh no I couldn’t wait for Just Married to be finished!
Not one I’ll be recommending.
Just wow!
Kiersten Modglin has done it again! Just when you think there’s NO way she can top her last story…BAM! She takes you through more twists and turns than you can imagine. I LOVED this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to find out what was going to happen next. Her mind and the things she writes amazes me!
Thank you to NetGalley and Kiersten Modglin for an advanced copy in return for my honest review!
Ryan surprises his new bride, Grace, with a quaint honeymoon at a secluded cabin. Though Grace is thrilled to spend time with her husband, she knows this trip also means she has to tell him about the secret that she has been keeping. As Grace tries to find the right time to break the news, weird things start happening at the cabin - including coming across a strange man in the woods who seems to be a little more sinister than Grace would prefer. Will the couple make it out of the honeymoon from hell?
There were so many layers to this one, I couldn't decide which mystery I wanted to figure out first! I will say that I was not a fan of Ryan, he felt very needy and didn't seem like he had much of a backbone. To be fair, Grace was a bit of an oddball as well. There were multiple twists in this read and I didn't see any of them coming. Read this one in about a day! It is available to read July 5, 2021 - definitely go and grab yourself a copy!
Wow wow wow! What a great book. I literally read this book in 2 sittings in one day. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
This book was definitely a great thriller and who done it type book. I loved the characters and the story line was fantastic. Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy of this book. I will definitely be recommending this one to everyone.
Wow! What a wild ride! Just Married is a roller coaster meshed with a boogeyman both in a cemetery during a full moon. Thank goodness once the story reaches a certain point, Modglin goes back to untangle the parts you thought you knew but now have the real story. This story creeped me out in the best way possible. Psychological, twisty thriller that will have you questioning everything a character said.
Grace and Ryan head off to the forest for a belated honeymoon, but are soon confronted with the demons from their past. If you're a fan of fast-pace, read-in-one-sitting books with tons of crazy twists, this is the book for you!
Thanks to Kiersten Modglin, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.
This book had more twists and turns than a roller coaster! Kiersten keeps her title as the Queen of Twists. I could not put this book down. I finished it in a few hours. I highly recommend it.

Just Married by Kiersten Modglin

If you’ve been around my page for a while now you know that I am no stranger to Kiersten Modglin’s books. I’m obsessed with the gripping, twisty suspense and the fast-paced thrill of each book.
Just Married was no different. I was on the edge of my seat with my heart in my throat the entire story and I’m still recovering from the whiplash of the 𝙢𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙚 twists. This book is now, dare I say, my #1 favorite of hers! Mark your calendars for July 5th. You won’t want to miss this one!
Thank you @kierstenmodglinauthor, @netgalley and @bookouture for my early copy!
That first sentence! I was hooked literally from then on...this was an in-and-out-in-a-day/end-to-end read for me.
While 𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙙 was definitely a bit darker than Modglin’s usual psycho-thrillers, I think that darkness added a certain depth to both the characters and the story itself.
This was such a well thought out plot, and had all the necessary substance to back it up, too. Strong characters, believable dialogue, scenes a reader can easily visualize and heart-pounding drama. And, of course, that KMod twist at the end.
This is arguably the best KMod book I’ve read to date and I think it’s fair to say, the KMod Squad will NOT be disappointed!
“When someone holds your secret, they can either protect you or hurt you.”
Thank you to @NetGalley and @Bookouture for the advanced ebook copy in exchange for an honest review!

"There was nothing left to figure out. We were going to die."
I cannot remember the last time I was on the edge of my seat like I was with this book! I made the mistake of reading this while my husband was out of town and I was alone in the house. I had all the lights on, and still every little creak freaked me out!
So, we have Grace and Ryan, newly married, and planning a delayed honeymoon. Instead of heading far away or to some tropical paradise, Ryan books a cabin in the mountains of Tennessee. Nothing ever good happens in an isolated cabin, especially with this author!! Soon, the week-long love nest they were hoping for turns in to a nightmare and they find themselves trapped with no way out, no way to call for help, and a strange man in the woods, who by all indication, is coming for them - and not in a friendly or helpful way.
I am not going to spoil anything for you here, I try never to do that, but let's just say, in true Modglin style, there is layer after layer of twists in this story. Betrayal, secrets, ulterior motives, you name it, it's in here.
You know, I've been in a cabin in the mountains before, and I always loved the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sprawling vista, and I've loved it. Until now. Daytime - fine. Night time - not so much.
I've read all of this author's books and have been shocked by the ending each and every time. She has such a talent for creating new and original storylines, and twists and turns you won't see coming. While all of her books are just amazing, this one has to be one of my favorites!!
She has done it AGAIN another 5 🌟 book!! This is one of the few authors that each and every book is amazing and not repetitive like some other authors. I've read every book she has written and anxiously await the next. If you have not yet read this author you are missing out!! Highly Recommend
First, thank you to the publishers at Bookouture and Netgalley for this e-ARC of Just Married.
Just Married is a fast paced thriller that will have you wondering who you can trust, if anyone at all. Grace and Ryan are newlyweds, looking to finally celebrate their honeymoon after 6 months of marriage. Renting a secluded cabin in the middle of the Tennessee forests, Ryan and Grace get to work celebrating with a nice dip in the hot tub and some wine. Then their troubles begin.
Strange things start happening, first with a locked door, then with finding a homeless man in the middle of the woods. Both Ryan and Grace are holding secrets that they can’t let the other discover, but will these secrets tear them apart, or will someone else do the job for them?
I really enjoyed the dialogue between this couple, as well as the alternative chapters in each character’s unique voice. The scenery was enchanting, and the plot had plenty of twists and turns, some that I didn’t see coming. In some ways, the plot was slightly predictable, but by the end of the book, I wasn’t really sure what to expect! Definitely a great read if you enjoy dark thrillers with plenty of action.
This book really grabbed me right at the start. Ryan wants a honeymoon , Grace has agreed they will have one now. Ryan has found the perfect spot with the help of Grace’s best friend, a secluded cabin in the woods. Things get very interesting their first evening there. Kiersten Modglin never ceases to amaze me with her words and ideas for her books. I think this is the best one yet! Definitely recommend it if psychological thrillers are your thing.
