Great story. Loved the characters in this book. The story moves and grows as it progresses and so do the characters which is nice to see.

At 38, Delphie Mertens has it all, or so she thinks. As assistant to the CEO at a highly successful firm, Delphie has worked day and night and traveled the world to climb the corporate ladder. Her family constantly berates her for sacrificing her personal life and more specifically the idea of marriage and family. Always searching for a plus one to the nonstop parade of events, Delphie is at her brothers wedding with her ex-boyfriend when she receives the awful news regarding her beloved boss Conrad. This catalyst sets Delphie up against her male chauvinist rival at the office and she is suddenly fighting to survive. As Delphie uncovers secrets to save her position and her boss’s widow from ruin she finally has the chance to reevaluate the future she has always dreamed of living. A little misleading, the title doesn’t really fit the story as well as I imagined. Characters were predictable and somewhat disappointing. Not my favorite.

I liked this book, but it was definitely not the fluffy read I was expecting from the title. The title left out the two funerals she attended! The weddings were plot devices where other, more important things, happened. The story is about main character, Delphie, and her life as a career woman. She and her friends wonder if marriage and children should be part of their busy lives.

I enjoyed those discussions, but the book dragged a little and the ending was not what I expected. 3 stars. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

First book by this author and it won’t be the last. Generally I read thrillers but occasionally throw in a romance to break things up. Most of them follow the same cycle and are fluffy and predictable. This was not that, not at all. I loved that the main character, Delphie, is smart and ambitious. It was great that she was happy with her life as a single woman though her need to constantly defend that fact to her family grew a bit tedious. I think I was irritated for her😂. I loved the way it ended. It was perfect. This was very good. I’m happy to recommend and read more by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Mobius Books for a copy in exchange for a review.

I adored Delphie. I love a strong female lead and Delphie was someone I could cheer for. There were times when I wanted to jump ahead because I was bored, but all and all it was a good read.

Loved it!!! It was one of those books that I was sad to see end. I wanted to continue reading about Delphie, her friends and slightly crazy family and see what happens next. I felt like I got to know all the characters and was actually there with them (I would have really liked to be there in Mallorca instead of reading about it.) I wasn't surprised what happened to Delphie after finding out what happened to Conrad. I had a suspicion that would happen. It ended up being the best thing for her, even though it didn't seem that way at first. I liked Ed, but he seemed to good to be true. I'm not sure how Delphie was able to be around her sister and sister and law and at times her mom. They constantly put her down for being single and having a career. They made it seem like there was something wrong with her. Delphie knew what she wanted and was happy with her life. She didn't need to have a man by her side at all times. I simply loved everything about the story.

Definitely recommend the book. I loved the characters, story and writing style. The book was full of love, friendship, forgiveness, grief and so much more. Look forward to reading more books by the author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Mobius Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Three Weddings and a Proposal: One summer, three weddings, and the shocking phone call that changes everything by Sheila O'Flanagan. A fun, warmhearted, and lovely read with relatable and realistic characters set in a story that will leave you wanting more.

This is my first book by Sheila O'Flanagan and it won't be my last! Delphie loves her life - great job, great house and great friends - what more could you ask for? Well, her family does not feel the same way. She is constantly questioned about her life choices and everyone wants to know when she will settle down, get married and have kids. I love books about strong female characters who are happy with their life and that doesn't always revolve around having a family of their own.. Some weddings, some laughs, some tears and a few surprises along the way! Highly recommend!

4.5 Stars

Three Weddings and a Proposal is a good novel by Sheila O'Flanagan.

There's a lot going on in this story, but overall, it deals with a woman who's work has always been first to her. Many other characters give her a hard time for her decisions to not take the time to settle down with a man. Yes, this is a story that illustrates the pressure the world still puts on women to be homemakers and mothers.

There's an ex that comes back into her life and ...

Her work situation is complex, with her work life being everything she ever wanted. until so things go wrong.

It's easy to read, with plenty of ups and downs throughout. And so many times I wanted to scream at people. My god, there some horrible people in her life.

Delphie is loveable and east to root for.

I definitely recommend this one the next time you're in the mood for a good women's fiction tale.

Delphie is deeply invested in her job but she's also living a happy life in other ways as well, or so she thinks. Chance puts her beside Ed, an ex, on a flight and she invites him to be a plus one at her brother's wedding, which makes her large family happy. But, suddenly, her career is upended. Oh, and there are two more weddings for which she needs a plus one. This is both light and thoughtful at the same time and Delphie finds there are no easy answers. She's wonderful, as is her family (even though they might be pesky at times), Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I don't want to do spoilers here because you should enjoy this the way I did- it made a good read on a really got day.

This is a slow moving story with details that are some times distracting from the story. The middle of the story stalled a little - keep reading.

I was invested in Delphie, as a strong, independent woman who has relationships ( male and female ) that are important to her, but don't define her. She has a family that is very involved in her life.

I absolutely loved how Sheila decided to end the story. I would love to see her write another book about Delphie's friends.

A yummy books that sets the main character out on a journey of discovery. It was an easy read with likeable characters that you grew to care about. I love the fact that the author portrays women as strong individuals who are perfectly capable of living their lives, well into the post-baby years, as choices are made,

Thank you NetGalley, Sheila O'Flanagan and Mobius Books for the ARC of Three Weddings and a Proposal. This is my personal review.
Delphie a single independent woman; living a good life. She has a good job she is great at and a beautiful house by the sea.
The one thing she hears is questions from her family is why is she still single.
Delphie is attending a wedding when she gets a phone call about a tragic accident that changes the path, she had been on for her life. This event has her questioning everything she has achieved and accomplished in her life.
The story took me in as I followed Delphie and her decisions on things she has done and why

Three and a half stars.

Delphie is living her best life, executive assistant to one of Ireland's wealthiest men she travels the world doing everything from buying an antique bracelet for his girlfriend to reviewing business plans and managing the company's charitable foundation. She's single with her own beautiful cottage by the sea but the rest of her large Irish family won't stop feeling sorry for her just because she's alone. The last straw comes when she is being harangued from all sides because she hasn't named a plus one for her brother's imminent wedding (because they need to write the placecards for the reception FFS). Then a quick trip to Mallorca to hand over said bracelet to her boss brings great news, he wants to appoint her to the Board. On the flight home she sits next to her ex, Ed, who left her to work in Dubai.

Then tragedy strikes and Delphie's wonderful life collapses around her shoulders. Could reconnecting with the only boyfriend she ever really loved change everything?

I did really enjoy this story although I felt that the two major plot lines were too obviously telegraphed, or maybe I'm just that good at reading people, or maybe I've just read a scary number of contemporary romances? It was nice to have a 'career woman' who genuinely loves her career and doesn't suddenly decide to settle for something slower-paced, or using a softer, more feminine skill (like opening a cup-cake shop). I liked Delphie and I wanted to be her friend. I don't think I've read any other books by Sheila O'Flanagan but i like her writing and will definitely look out for more from her.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Three Weddings and a Proposal is a great book. The author really pulls you in and makes you feel that you know the characters. Delphie is really enjoying herself at her brothers wedding. Her family was shocked at her last minute plus one which has also stopped them from constantly asking why she is not married. She has a wonderful job, great friends and a dream house by the sea but her family only seems concerned with her marital status. After the end of the wedding she receives horrible news and has to rush away to her office. This news has a major impact on her life. This makes her examine who she is and what she wants in life.

She attends another wedding which is unexpected. At the third wedding there is still another surprise. This events at the weddings help Delphie to make decisions that change her life. I recommend reading this book.

I love the cover. I didn't care for the format style. It was hard to get interested in the beginning. I wanted to like the characters.

Delphie Mertens is a remarkable woman who’s entire world is shaken by an event that occurs while she’s at a wedding. Her path to finding herself again (even though she may have already known who she is) knowing her worth and truly rising about her potential was so enjoyable to read. I’m don’t know if it’s because I too and going through some career changes and finding myself again but Delphie’s story resonated deep within me. The prose is witty, engaging, and yet a reminder that a simple story sometimes is the best kind of story.

Did not finish.

I tried, really tried, to like this book as I am a fan of Sheila O'Flanagan. But, I just couldn't make it through all the business talk and got rather bogged down by the details.

Three Weddings and a Proposal was a very light summer read. Maybe a little too light. That being said, I was never bored and the last quarter of the book, I couldn't put it down. None of the characters stood out and the main character had a large family and I couldn't keep everyone straight, but it wasn't necessary. The ending was predictable, but good. Also, I enjoyed the main character, Delphie, and liked how she stayed true to who she was. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a pleasant, easy story. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
