Another cute romcom with such a wild premise. I mean who wouldn't want to Marry Keanu reeves in 90 days?
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc.
A super light hearted and fun read! I mean who can resist a friends to lovers, road trip, and forced proximity book? It doesn't hurt that the loml Micheal B Jordan made a guest appearance!!!
I was excited to try this new-to-me author and thought the blurb for this book sounded funny and was intriguing, but this story fell flat for me.
Being a 40+ woman I am always looking to find a 40+ female character I relate to, but Bethany read really young and immature to me. I felt similarly about her friends. The dynamic of the friendships felt more like characters in their 20s.
Sadly, I just didn't connect with this book.
This book was so cute! As soon as I heard the title of this book, I knew I wanted to read it - and the gorgeous cover just sucked me in! Our main character, Bethany Lu, is shocked when she hears that her celeb crush Keanu Reeves is getting married in 90 days. Faced with some tough reflections about where her life has taken her, she decides to take the next 90 days to try to find Keanu and get him to marry her instead - with her best friend True supporting her along the way. This book started off slow for me, but once the search for Keanu was underway I really enjoyed reading it.
You will love this book if you enjoy the friends to lovers romance trope. True and Bethany’s friendship evolves throughout the book as they begin to separate the past from where they are now as adults.
If you’re excited to read a romance with a 40-ish heroine, this is your book! It was refreshing to read about a character closer to my age.
Finally, pick this up if you would enjoy celebrity cameos in your romance novels. In addition to Keanu Reeves, several other celebrities pop up along Lu and True’s journey including some sexy superheroes. It was so fun that they were characters, definitely my favorite part of the book!
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinions on this book.
This book started out slow to me. I struggled with trying to understand why there was this desperation to meet Keanu Reeves and care about their journey. I'm glad I stuck with it, around 50 percent I started to enjoy it more. From the references to other celebs and the friends falling in love (along with the one bed), I enjoyed the last bit. It was cute and I'm glad a silly adventure brought the two friends together!
Terrific concept - unfortunately that's all this book has going for it. The dialogue, characterization and pacing are all jerky, like scenes were copy-pasted together. Every once in awhile the author makes an incisive comment on human nature, pop culture or racism but it's lost in the muddle. This book is getting so much hype, I really tried to like it but it has no emotional honesty (Also, there is SO LITTLE SEX.). At one point, the author goes to great lengths to tell the reader a character is playing "clueless" while the character's actions are the opposite. (Classic show vs. tell mistake.) I didn't have a clue what the main characters meant to each other until 25% into the story, when at last there's an exposition dump. Their connection feels forced. And while I love an over-40 heroine, this one is such a mess that it was hard to root for anything more than her growing up. Cannot recommend.
How to Marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Days by KM Jackson is the story of Bethany Lu who is an ardent fan of Keanu Reeves and is on a quest to marry him and stop him from retirement when the news breaks that he is settling down. Lu is an artist in her 40s and lives a happy single life with her best friends True & Dawn. With the sudden announcement Lu's best friend True takes her on a quest to meet and convince Keanu to marry her. Though True and Lu have been friends for over 20 years this journey seems different. They are forced to face their feelings for each other and the loss that they faced in the past.
This book had a lot of interesting characters. Lu and Dawn were funny, True was loyal beyond words. Loved the celebrity appearances. It seemed a little far fetched that an adult woman would be stuck on a celebrity for so many years. Also felt strange that Lu and True would not act on their feelings for 20 years. I was able to invest in the book in the second half when the story builds and gains pace. Also, loved that the protagonist is a woman of color and in her 40s.
Thank you Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Bethany Carlisle is an artist with an obsession with actor Keanu Reeves. When she discovers he plan to get married, she convinces her best friend to accompany her on a road trip so that she can profess her love for him and thwart the pending nuptials. True Erickson, her good friend, is a college professor who has feelings for Bethany but unfortunately, he has landed in the friend zone. The adventure peeled away layers of emotions and feelings between Bethany and True which lead them to take a second look at their “friendship”.
How to Marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Days is a charming, lighthearted romance. It was interesting to see how their friendship development into so much more all because of Bethany’s love for Keanu Reeves. A very funny story with a great ending.
Keanu Reeves, Internet's boyfriend. Or rather everybody's favorite (wishful thinking) boyfriend. I am very grateful to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) & Netgalley for gifting me an ARC of this book. I was so excited to get my hands on this book both because of its premise and because I needed more romcoms in my reading life.
This book fell into my hands at the perfect time. I needed a bit of a mind escape and this book delivered. The main protagonist Beathny Lu Carlisle is a quirky artist with awesome two best friends, Dawn & True (Truman), a huge crush on Keanu Reeves & lot of unresolved grief over the loss of her brother earlier in life. When tabloids report that Keanu is getting married and (potentially) ending his acting career afterwards, Lu gets fixated on finding Keanu in order to proclaim her undying love to him. What ensues is a series of adventures that takes Lu and her somewhat reluctant bestie True from the East coast to the West, with a number of surprisingly entertaining appearances of other celebrities.
This is the kind of book you pack to take along on a vacation or take and read when you want to create a mini mental vacation at home. Like most lovable rom com heroines Lu is an endearing mess and though her life in NYC might not be the most relatable, I for one read rom coms to escape the reality. The story had a right combo of funny, sweet and steamy to keep me entertained throughout. This would definitely make a fun mini series. And I sincerely hope K.M. Jackson works in celebrities into her next book because she did such a good job of writing them in this story.
Crazy road trip/celebrity stalking adventures meets friends to lovers. What’s not to love?
Bethany Lu Carlisle sees a tweet stating that Keanu Reeves will be married in 90 days. She’s absolutely devastated since he’s the perfect boyfriend and forever bachelor and his impending marriage means the whole world is off balance. After a rough night, she concocts a plan to track Keanu down and convince him that he shouldn’t get married. Or if he does, that her marry Lu instead. Lu’s long-time best friend, Truman (True) Erikson ends up deciding to help her out through all the crazy attempts to track down Keanu from Coney Island to Los Angeles. But what if Keanu isn’t actually the one for Lu after all?
First of all, K.M. (Kwana) Jackson just writes stories in a way that makes the characters so instantly real. Even though Lu is absolutely crazy in my opinion, I can totally understand her feelings and see her as a real person. Kwana’s books also manage to have such great interweaving of comedy, social commentary through representation, and heartbreak. This book is definitely no exception. I laughed and cried my way through the story. I also love how Lu and True are in their 40s, letting us see them at that stage in life with all the life experiences that go along with it.
I will say that it took me a bit to really get into this book. The premise is absolutely ridiculous (in a fun way), which you know going in. However, it’s hard to take Lu seriously when, as a reader, you barely know her and just watch her completely fall apart because Keanu Reeves is supposedly getting married. As the story goes on, though, I start to understand why she might be feeling that way and what events in her life really led to her overall approach to life (trigger warning: death of a sibling). True also feels a bit one-dimensional at first, since he’s not a big part of the initial story. We do get to know him better as we read about him more and I can understand his motivations as well. He really is the sweetest ever.
Overall, this book lived up to its promise perfectly. The blurb says that it’s a “road-trip rom-com perfect for fans of Meet Cute and When Harry Met Sally” and that’s exactly what we get. It’s full of fun tropes and shenanigans. There are many cameos by famous people (can this book become a movie please?) and funny moments that only ever happen in rom-coms. Although this story gives off beach read summer vibes, I definitely think you can read it any time. Be prepared for all the feels!
I wanted to like this more than I ended up. Lu is OBSESSED with Keanu Reeves. So logically, when the media spills he’s engaged, with a wedding less than 3 months away, Lu goes into a tailspin on how to track him down, and beg him to stay single. Enter Lu’s best friend, Truman (Lu & Tru) who is willing to help her track K.R. Down. This is a clean-ish romance, where the scenes get a little detailed, but I just couldn’t get into it. The banter between the characters was odd, and the relationship was too rocky of a premise for me.

Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an eARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review!
Lu is absolutely obsessed with Keanu Reeves no question about that. News of Keanu looking to settle down, get married, and possibly retire……. Leaves Lu questioning what her future will look like.
I received a copy of this ebook from NetGalley.

Thanks so much to Forever Publishing for sending this one my way. Sadly it wasn’t for me. I wasn’t at all invested in the characters or the plot. It just didn’t seem coherent enough for me and it seemed like too much was trying to happen without anything happening. Oh well, onto the next!
Equally hilarious and heartfelt, this dual perspective road trip romance between Bethany Lu and her BFF Truman was pure delight. I adored the Keanu Reeves fangirling and also found the heavier grief storyline equally relatable and real. Still grieving after her brother's death Bethany is learning how to live and love again and Truman is right there trying to help her while secretly pining. Full of some seriously delicious steamy scenes and lots of celeb sightings, this was a fun romance with depth. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy!
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Forever - Grand Central Publishing for an e-ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
It was okay. I didn't hate it but I didn't like it all that much. I think it was the main character, Lu, I didn't like her all that much. I enjoyed the journey that the lesson of the journey but the reason for it and how she acted just annoyed me.
As soon as I saw Keanu in the title I knew I had to read this one. K.M. Jackson delivers such a fun escape for readers in How To Marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Days. I especially loved that this book focused on friendship and finding meaning wherever you are. Fans of Jasmine Guillory will love this one!
She’s cute..
That’s about all I have to say. She cute!
I thought this book was enjoyable and entertaining. It made me chuckle at times, not laugh. The references were cute and the ship just cute enough.
I do feel it could’ve had a bit more substantive content and still been plenty breezy enough.
I’ll remember the title of the book long after the characters or writing.

Bethany Lu and True have been best friends for over 20 years, there for one another no matter what. So when Lu hears that her love of afar, Keanu Reeves, is getting married and settling down, True agrees to help her meet Keanu so she can stop the wedding. What comes next is an adventure neither will forget.
For all its celebrity-filled silliness, How to Marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Days is delightful romantic adventure featuring two friends who finally figure things out. Bethany Lu has always lived a bohemian-inspired artist’s life, with the security of her parents wealth. She’s never wanted to settle down, so when she hears that Keanu is getting his act together, she has a crisis of faith, wondering what it means for her and her lifestyle. Meanwhile, True has always loved Lu; however, there is a tragedy settled between them, one they’ve never really addressed. Even though each is secure in their life and career, both carry a lot of personal insecurities. I enjoyed watching their emotions play out over the course of the book. Each had to take a hard look at what they truly wanted in life.
In the end, How to Marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Days is a cute story. I love the zany adventure of friends becoming lovers, falling in love. I love that it took all those years and that love finds a way. There are some silly moments, which didn’t always hit the mark for me, but I like where it ended up, and I enjoyed the journey.

I've been patiently waiting 😉
Honestly this is my first K.M. Jackson book.
And I truly hope she continues to write similar stories because this was one I couldn't put down.
This is hands down one of the best contemporary romance story I've read in some time.
