This was a cute and fun romance! Bethany Lu is a cool artist living in New York and is in love with Keanu Reeves. She is absolutely devastated when she learn Keanu is getting married in 90 days and is determined to stop him and convince him that she is the perfect woman for him. But of course, not everything goes to plan. I enjoyed that it is told from dual perspectives of Bethany and True (her long time BFF). With their longtime friendship, we get witty banter and chemistry but we also get the frustration of why haven't they taken their friendship to the next level. As Bethany drags True along with her to try and stop Keanu from getting married, we see several other celebrity cameos and their appearances bring a lot of hilarious moments throughout the book. Along the way, we discover some unhealed grief and this trip becomes more than it was intended for the characters. Jackson did well interweaving the reality of grief and healing within a romantic comedy. How to Marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Days is funny and a true friends to lovers romance.

An actual romcom! This one is of the charming and some angstry romance-variety. Bethany Lu is a Keanu Reeves fan girl and rumors he's getting married, have her seeking to stop it. OK yes, that's bonkers, but it's fun. True is one of her two best friends and he commits to helping her on her quest. From coast to coast, there are hijinks and crazy situational comedy, with a cast of stars showing up. Not in a creepy way for those avoiding real people fiction (RPF), but in a "wait did that just happen??!?!" manner. And it's just pure fun. Sibling's best friend, long time pining, friends to lovers, these are the tropes at work here. Lu and True are both dealing with some past shared trauma of the death of Lu's brother, which was so long ago that that relatively short scene where they talk about it, felt realistic. Not that the pain of his death has gone but that as adults more than a decade after his death, they can choose to move forward together. Chemistry and angst and shared history drive these two together. A quick read that I couldn't put down and I enjoyed every bit of it.

CW for death of a sibling, one male side character full of toxic masculinity, racist microaggressions on page

This book is a serious slump buster. I read it in one day. Bethany Lu is an artist who likes things to remain the same. So, it's a shock to the system when she reads a tweet stating that her forever crush, Keanu Reeves, is getting married in 90 days. Yes...that Keanu Reeves. From this point forward, this book is a serious ride.

True has been in love with Bethany as long as he can remember. After the loss of his best friend and Bethany's brother, the two have remained friends. He's always wanted more but has been afraid to push knowing that Bethany is resistant to change. This all comes to a head when he realizes he can help Bethany push herself out of her comfort one by offering to help her track down Keanu and ask him to re-think marriage.

I loved the friendship between the two. There is real pain in their shared loss but also a beautiful support and understanding because of it. They definitely had a long overdue talk coming but I could really feel that vulnerability in both characters. Bethany's fear of loss is very real and she is a champ at re-directing her anxieties. And True is just the sweetest and most patient friend. The banter is great and the adventures they have tracking down Keanu are a blast.

If you are a Keanu fan, you will love all the references in this book. There are several other A-list actors noted in the book which made it all the more enjoyable. This book is flirty and fun and I couldn't put it down. Definitely recommend!

When I saw this premise on Netgalley I knew I had to request the book. I loved the idea of a character taking a road trip to prevent her celebrity crush from getting married.

I loved the friends-to-lovers romance and the dual pov. I loved the movie/Keanu references and really enjoyed how the book was so much more than romance. This is a novel about love and grief and moving on. It's about facing your feelings and healing. The romance is just the cherry on top.

Thank You to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Bethany Lu Carlisle is obsessed with Keanu Reeves and is devasted when she reads in the tabloids that he is getting married. Lu and her best friend, Truman (True) Erikson, go on a wild goose chase throughout the US looking for Keanu Reeves so Lu can get the chance to meet him and proclaim her love. The only problem is True has had a crush on her for years. Will Lu finally be able to meet the love of her life, Keanu, or has her true love been by her side the entire time?

The concept of this book was fun! I enjoyed following along with Lu and True and their adventures. However, there was almost a little too much going on and the built up of the romance was too slow. For example, I felt there was too much of the looking for Keanu Reeves parts. Instead, I would have liked more focus on Lu and True’s budding relationship. Everything did come together for a cute and sweet ending.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book is for someone who wants more plot than emotion in a romance, perhaps to shake things up. I thought the premise was fun at first, but the zaniness of it was too much in the end. Apart from the actual plot being pretty bananas (though I did like the interlude in New Mexico!), it was impossible to believe a grown woman would take such actions for a celebrity crush. Which, sure, suspend disbelief, but I think if it had actually gone harder on some of the plot twists (which I won't spoil) it would have been more fun.

What do you think of the cover? Isn’t it mesmerizing and the title caught my eyes! I was thrilled to see that this beauty was the @bookofthemonth November pick!

The book started off a little surprising considering 40 something Lu was having a major celebrity crush on Keanu Reeves and was devastated to learn that h3 is marrying in 90 days! , but as the story progressed, the journey of Lu and True was a fun and emotional ride !!

I loved the character of True a lot, for his companionship, his friendship, and his secret crush on Lu! I highly recommend this book to all of KR fans, as it has quite a few references of Keanu’s movies!

Thank you Foreverpub and NetGalley for the gifted galley of this cutie that hit the shelves on November 2, 2021

So I am kinda neutral about this book. I didn’t dislike it but I didn’t love it either. The whole being in love with a celebrity thing is a little cringe. Although, Keanu is an icon and pretty amazing so I get it on some level.
It took me to about 65% on the ebook before I was invested in the story. Even then I still wasn’t all in or anything.
It was a cute enough book but just not as great as I hoped especially with it being a BOTM pick. Solid 3 stars. I did pick it for my November box so I will have a physical copy soon.

When Bethany Lu Carlisle hears that Keanu Reeves is getting married in three months, she falls into a creative funk. The perennial bachelor has been her crush since she was a teenager. Now forty, and with an art show coming up, she needs to get her mojo back. She can only see one solution: find Keanu and convince him to marry her instead.

Truman has been in love with Bethany Lu for as long as she's been in love with Keanu. Afraid of ruining their friendship, he's kept silent all these years. But with a contact in the entertainment industry, he goes on a road trip with Bethany Lu to help her meet Keanu. Along the way, can True win her heart?

When I first read this book description, I thought, hmm, that sounds awesome, but it doesn't sound like K.M. Jackson. And I was right. K.M. Jackson did not change her writing style to deliver a light, fluffy, quirky romp. This book is a very solid contemporary romance, and it's got its funny moments, but I would not characterize it as a rom com. Maybe that's just me.

The premise is brilliant. The search for Keanu is less a driving force than a jumping off point. The plot focuses on the relationship between Truman and Bethany Lu. They've got some significant scars in their past that they need to work through before they can let themselves fall in love. They're both so loving and endearing, you can't help but root for them. After so many years, their HEA is hard-won and richly deserved.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Jackson had me from the title, and amazing cover, and the interior did not disappoint. As a woman of a certain age much of it hit maybe a little too close to home, but also served as a good reminder that we are not alone. Come from Keanu, stay for the other pop culture sightings, and leave with a happy heart.

How to Marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Days seems like a likeable concept. The problem with this book is the main character. I wanted to like Bethany Lu, and perhaps would've if her maturity level more closely resembled her age. Her obsession with Keanu Reeves wears thin extremely quickly. (And I too am a longtime Keanu fan.) Had the character been in her early twenties I would be able to forgive some of her zaniness explained by her need to grow up. I also found the amount of times celebrities were mentioned - or even popped up in the book as characters - to be distracting. The dual POV does not save the book, as even through True's eyes, Bethany Lu remains unlikeable. I have been looking forward to this book for months, and I honestly don't know what happened here but I am incredibly disappointed.

It may be just the timing, but the characters didn't capture my attention. Also the love story between the protagonists were cute, I just wanted more development in the characters rather than the plot.

Such a fun read!
Lu is a fan-girl chasing her celeb dream crush. Her longtime friend True is determined to help her achieve her goal. With each adventure and humor filled outing, the Keanu seeking provides a chance for these friends to realize their feelings for each other might be more than friendship. Sweet and funny with great characters!

Fun romcom that's a little bit shenanigans, a little bit of grieving. True and Lu are a match made on the road.

Reading Notes:

- Purely personal, but I’m not enthused by the artist job designation. BUT I’m hoping it will have more tie in to the plot and not be a throwaway profession.
- Love that we’re going to get dual perspectives, but the initial switch between chapters didn’t line up very well.
- 40 and single AF. Love it. The attitude and age range is definitely welcome in a Rom-Com book which tend to skew so much younger. Or it ages into super serious fiction.
- …well, it’s still reading very young. I knew it would be a little cuckoo given the title and synopsis but it’s coming off as forced hyper versus naturally zany.
- I’m not the biggest fan of friends to lovers, but the premise spoke to me so much I dove in, so maybe it’s just me but I’m not vibing with their dynamic. I’m mostly annoyed.
- I don’t really like Lu. It’s like she’s mistaking mean for being cute.
- A glimpse at early trauma that has most likely stunted, and semi-explains, her lack of emotional growth.
- Now Lu just sounds whiny.
- Ah, yes, it’s True’s fault that you’re so needy and self-absorbed that you don’t stop to even think or ask about him, ever. Seriously don’t like Lu. Run far away True, I don’t want you to end up together, you deserve better.
- 45% in. I think it’s obvious that I’m not into this romance. I’ll just skim to the end now.
- … all the subtlety of a brick to the face.
- … 58% in and finally on the road trip.
- … these celebrity cameos should be fun but they’re just too unrealistic now.
- … the only time I have ever not cared that there is only one bed.
- … Lu dressed as Trinity and describing her squeaky outfit noises is great. Could have had more of that.
- … this is less a road trip and more a series of destinations. There’s no page time spent in the car.
- … I do enjoy the smackdowns of Lin’s verbiage. If the whole book had been about work and the weird aggressive “headhunting” for both Lu and True, it would have been modern and interesting.
- … made it to the end. The culmination of events was just meh at that point. I’m done.

📖 Q: how poised would you be on a scale of 1-5 (low to very) if you ran into an actor celeb crush? Honestly I have imagined how embarrassing I would be & so I will likely duck & run if I ever see one of mine 😬. I’d stick around for an author celeb crush though!!

Immediately on opening up K. M. Jackson’s How to Marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Days I was sucked into the voice of it—the conversational, quirky narration that totally matches the plot itself.

& what’s this book about? It’s a fun romp starring artist Bethany Lu Carlisle—who wants to track down the recently engaged Keanu Reeves & convince him to marry *her*—& Lu’s best friend True Erickson, who’s stood by her through everything & also happens to be secretly but also not so secretly in love with her.

Adventuring to an amusement park, a film party, & across the US so they can track down Keanu, the leads get to know each other even better & realize they can still be surprised, even after all these years.

Bethany “Lu” is a gem: “Over 40, single AF, & okay with it. It didn’t mesh for some.” True is the steadfast kind of hero I love; he works so hard to show her how they can be happy together if she’s brave enough to act on the feelings she has.

Friends to lovers, celebrity cameos, leads who are 40+, & convos about pain & racial profiling & Keanu, this one is entertaining & sweet.

4 ⭐️. Release date: 11/02.

This book sounds like something that would happen to me if I was single at 40. I love these books! When you randomly run into the wrong celebrity and you keep seeing Keanu as he walks out of the room or venue. It's like Captain Hook at Disneyland - I will get you one day sir! Ok my mom grabbed him last time but I hella look like a mom in the pics, I need a redo.

Lu Carlisle is a well known NY artist with a slight obsession with Keanu Reeves and as a tweet that he is about to get married jumpstarts her into action. Her bff True (Truman) helps her with her plan to track him down and find him. They tried to track him down and happened upon a one bed sitch and um wow this tiny trailer that was the only option almost toppled over.

True is Lu's late brothers best friend. Lu's brother passed in college and her grief pulled her down and True and Keanu were the ones that brought her back. I feel like the loss of her brother broke a lot of dreams and paths she was intended on. When you lose someone things aren't all bright and shiny anymore they can get scary and you feel more vulnerable. Though True is looking out for her he also feels more than friends for her.

Maybe I am extrapolating too much based off inner monologue and talks because mostly this book is fun and adventurous, sexy and funny!

Keanu as usual is the joy we need in this world as he unknowingly brings people together. I always love seeing pics of him on the subway and giving up his seat and just being an awesome human all over the place, who wouldn't be in love with him?

✨Oh man I loved him in Much Ado About Nothing it was the uniform I know it wasn't the best accent but that uniform! Ok and Speed with the jaw chewing gum, and he knows kung fu! And shooting a shotgun in the rain. Hey Lu where are the car keys we need to go!! Please Just Be Excellent to Each other!!

Thank you readforeverpub and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

The title grabbed my attention from the get go even though I’m not a die hard Keanu Reeves fan. This was a fun, light & comedic read. This rom-com was what I needed to get out of my reading slump. It follows Lu and her best friend True as they follow Keanu Reeves to try to stop his wedding from happening in 90 days. She wants Keanu to marry her instead but she may not have realized that her true love was right in front of her all these years.

I enjoyed the banter and the adventures Lu and True went on. I absolutely enjoyed the dual POV of the book as well. Not only did the book take us on many adventures, it took us on a journey of healing as the characters navigate their feelings after a tragic death. They went out searching for someone but ended up finding each other & themselves. Although it was a fun read, I felt as though there were “gaps” within the book. Some things happened way out of the blue and some things weren’t explained. I don’t know if that makes sense. But regardless, if you’re looking for something light & fun, this is the one!

I really wanted to like this book. Friends to lovers is my favorite trope but I had such a hard time with the fact that Lu was 40 years old and kept going into these dazes such that her friends had to snap her back into reality. I was okay with her being a fan but the overall idea that at 40 she would literally be so obsessed with a celebrity that she couldn't function and was zoning out the way she was because of new is impending wedding just made it so hard for me to connect to her or find any way to relate to this one. While I really liked True, the book was so slow to get moving and do anything. I kept wondering why he was hanging around with Lu when he seemed to have things together. I just had a really hard time with this one to the point that I couldn't finish it. It just wasn't for me and I was really disappointed because I wanted to love this one.

I am always enticed by gorgeous and relevant cover art. The title this time really sold me as well. For KR fans, there are plenty of movie references and other connections throughout the plot. After Lu sees a tweet about Keanu getting married in 90 days, she decides to find him and get him to marry her instead. True (best friend of Lu's late brother with a secret crush on Lu) goes all in to help with the quest. Along the way there are other fun celebrity cameos as well as some exciting Keanu sightings. Will Lu ever get a chance to plead her case to Keanu? Is True more than just a nutty professor? Is there true love and healing from the pain of her past out there for Lu? I thought this was a bit slow to get started with some extra plot threads that seemed distracting. The finish though was spectacular and saved the book for me. And I love a road trip book. I think fans of Jasmine Guillory will also like this one. So, I still want to know: What is your favorite KR movie? For me it has to be "The Lake House." Definitely going to watch that one again soon.
