I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

This is a short story at least I felt it was. A small-town romance about two people who have grown up together. Eli has always thought of Emma as his best friend and later falls in love with her. Emma always liked Eli that is until the day he arrested her father and then he was put in prison.
As they both continue to see each other, each decides to run for mayor. Eli really does it because he likes the ideas that Emma has and thinks they will help the town. Emma is just frustrated with Eli and as you get into the story you find out she is also mad at herself and blames Eli for a lot of different things. A good story though it is short, with good characters all around.

Emma Andrews and Eli Carter had been best friends since kindergarten. Then Emma told Eli a secret and he betrayed her so for eight years she has despised him. When they are forced to work together for the good of their small town, Emma finally realizes that Eli isn't the bad guy. He is a good man and he would do anything to protect her. Was it worth the risk to involve her heart? Would they regret their decision to put an expiration date on it?

This was a fun, sweet story but had some language and graphic details that I don't particularly enjoy and didn't really enhance the story, in my opinion. I did like the basics of the story and the character development, though.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

This is a shorter book than normal for me but I really enjoyed it. It is the first book I have read by this author and appears to be part of a series about people in a small town. This story is about Emma and Eli who were once best friends but who now avoid each other and are a bit on the enemies side. It takes place in the small town of Hart's Ridge and in this story Emma and Eli have to work together for the towns July 4th celebration and then they both run for mayor. It was a fun small town romance between two characters who love and hate each other at the same time.

A delightful way to spend a couple of hours. Easy reading and full of fun and romance. It’s my first book by Elizabeth Bright but it won’t be my last

I haven’t read any other works of Elizabeth Bright except this one. I was immediately intrigued by the plot description. The love story is set in the small town of Hart’s Ridge in North Carolina. Emma and Eli grew up together and were best friends until eight years ago when a betrayal led to Emma asking Eli to get out of her life. Eli is Emma’s sworn enemy now, and they have successfully avoided each other for the last eight years even in a small town. That doesn’t last though and they are thrown back together when Emma becomes interim Mayor of the town.

Emma has never forgiven him for betraying her trust. Eli accepts what he did was awful even if he did his job and respects Emma’s decision. He understands why she can't stand to be around him, but he has always wondered if they were more than friends. Emma and Eli both are flawed characters. The events of the past have changed them, made them think in a certain way that is completely relatable.

Make Me Love You, I thought was a character-driven story rather than a plot-driven one. I think it works really well with this cozy romance story. Emma and Eli have such great chemistry. There is a familiarity in their relationship because they were best friends, and both separately wondered if it was just that or more, never acting on it. Now, the tension and chemistry are off the charts, and this time they do not worry about crossing any lines. Their history makes the relationship stronger and weaker too, given how they stayed away for eight years. I loved that they talked about things, it took coaxing, but they never let miscommunication or other issues hamper their relationship. There is no drama; the issues they have are because of how they are today as people.

Make Me Love You is a friends to enemies to lovers romance. Relatively short compared to most romances, it's a quick enjoyable read with interesting characters, Emma and Eli are clearly meant to be together regardless of their tumultuous history. But what I really loved was the town of Hart's Ridge. It's quaint and full of characters that make it sound like a place you']d love to spend time.

This book was read thanks to NetGalley

I liked this book, this book thematic always seems to be one of my favorites, but my issue with this book is that the author didn't know when cut this, the dynamic is I love you, now I hate you, and love again and hate again, and while it can be tiring for some people for me if used properly is way more human, the author never actively gave her the maturity to act less impulsive and when she does you don't believe it. While the first reason of the heartbreak is very valid, the rest compared to that one can seem for some people as childish.

I recommend this book for those who love, the love-hate-love-hate-love-and-happy-forever dynamic

I love you but I hate you 3 times a day seems to be a theme in this novel. Unfortunately I’ve known people like this in real life and they are exhausting in a soul crushing way. Despite the author’s heroic attempts to normalize these extreme swings of emotion, I felt that same exhaustion just reading about it. Makeup sex may be good, but it’s much better to have nothing to make up. I found the plot lacking for these reasons but the book does end on a promising note for more stability in the relationship going forward.

Emma runs a coffee/food van but now that the chicken processing plant has closed business is slow and her small town is in danger of people moving away. Eli is the town’s policeman and is roped into being the Deputy Mayor, Emma doesn’t want to be Mayor if Eli’s around! They both decide to run for Mayor and sparks are rekindled, will hate turn into love, will they both be able to save their beloved town?
This book was a great read, lots of chemistry, emotions, anticipation and the longing for past hurts to be resolved. I particularly love a small town story with likeable characters who all want the best for each other and where they live!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

3.25/5. I first discovered this author earlier this year, reading and absolutely loving The Duke's Wicked Wife. This CR offering is less memorable, less humorous, less charming, just less. For some reason, her HR voice rang more authentic than her contemporary dialogue. This wasn't bad. It was a short and sweet read and I was entertained enough. I'm just struggling to remember key elements of the plot 10 days later.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Eli and Emma had been best friends but after tragedy they kept themselves apart for eight years
The town’s circumstances changed and Eli and Emma were thrown together to take over mayoral duties. As they find a way to communicate, their attraction can no longer be denied but will issues from both their pasts keep them apart?
Great read!

This is book one in The Hart's Ridge Series and it is Emma and Eli's story and wow what a great start to a new series. This is a small town romance between Emma and Eli who have a past history together as they had been best friends that turned to enemies and now eight years later and they find themselves having to work together but how will it all end. Emma and Eli have strong chemistry between them but with everything that has happened will they act on it and get a second chance together or will they continue to be at odds with each other and miss out on something special only time will tell. The characters and storyline pulled you in right from the first page and I couldn't put this book down as it was so good. This is the first book that I have read by Elizabeth Bright but definitely not the last as it was so well written and definitely worth reading.

I Voluntarily Reviewed an Arc Copy of this book.

From the first paragraph, I knew this book would be a good one. I immersed myself into the book from the first chapter and I cannot say enough good things about this book! Honestly amazing! The writing is incredible and the plot is just one to die for. I am absolutely obsessed with this book. My favorite part would have to be the character development throughout the book. Character development is something I look forward to and this book did not disappoint.

I love the whole friends to enemies to lovers troupe, if it is done well and unfortunately this book missed the mark by a long shot everything felt rushed and Emma and Eli where just way to immature.

The only thing i liked about this whole book was the small town setting.

I absolutely loved this book.

Emma and Eli are very likable characters, and as we follow them work through all the history that have come between them, we are on an emotional roller-coaster - with both laughter and tears.
And let us not forget the lovely town of the Hart's Ridge - I could not help feeling like I was reading an episode of "Gilmore Girls" or something like that (which from my viewpoint is meant to be quite a compliment).
I want more of Hart's Ridge... I would love the second book to be about Luke, the owner of the bar "Goat's" or Emma's friend Kate... uh uh - or perhaps both... ;-)

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC <3
