This was such a good novella featuring some of my favorite book friends from the County Seat restaurant run by Angie Turner, and from River Vista to include Ian and his uncle. I love these little quarterly stories that feature Angie and the team doing a team building activity usually for some type of charity. This time, Hope's turn for choosing had them booked with a home that housed two retired veterans, and the house needed repairs so more could join them. But right off the bat, things didn't seem right with the residents. I just loved Randy's character and how well his story turned out. I enjoyed seeing veterans in the story, since I have a special place in my heart for them especially having and having had many in our family.
I was glad it didn't turn out quite how I was suspecting. New employee Bleak got to help with the showdown. The novellas can easily be standalones, but it does help to read in order to know more about the characters and their lives/relationships. This publishes July 6, but since I just read the fifth book, I couldn't wait. I needed more time with the characters, since I had the ARC anyway.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.
A novella that would fit in as book 5.5 in this cozy mystery series It even has a recipe for Baked Apple Cider Muffins that looks yummy!
County Seat staff's volunteer project this time is at River Vista Veteran's Home whose owner Carol Stewart seems reluctant to have them help. Only two vets are still presently in residence; Randy Owens and Kendrick Trickle. The team get involved with the people as well as the building repairs and menus. Dom, Angie Turner's dog, has taken on protecting Randy Owens as his project. Hope Andrews of County Seat has arranged this fall outing and working out the new menu for the restaurant is part of the reason for the team building adventure. Angie has concerns that something isn't right at the home and the more she cleans and creates the closer she gets to a major problem.
This is a fast paced story that covered so many areas concerning veteran care and many care facility situations. It is a nice visit with the lovable characters who own and work at County Seat Restaurant.
The County Line Crew is having their latest team building event to help a veterans home spruce things up. While there, Angie and Dom bond with the current residents and soon suspect that a recently departed resident may have been helped along to his end. Is the woman running the home taking out her charges or is something else going on. Angie and the gang intend to find out and help the veterans before something happens to another resident.
I really love Lynn Cahoon! All of her series are on my must read list and she is a talented writer. The queen of Novellas, I really enjoy the little hold me overs between books. You will never go wrong with any book by the queen of cozies!
Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corp. for a copy of "A Pumpkin Spice Killing" in exchange for my honest review.
This is a novella from the Form-to-Fork series, which while wonderful read on it's own, to understand the characters, it is best to read the series in order. The crew from the County Seat in River Vista are on a team building exercise. Angie Turner and her boyfriend Ian McNeal, along with Hope, Bleak, Matt, Nancy, Felicia and Estebe have gone to the River Vista Veteran's Home which is run by Carol Stewart. Hope arranged this outing with her Pastor and they are meant to help bring the home up to code - some cleaning, gardening and painting. Of course, Angie has a talent for falling into mysteries.
There are only two residents at the home Randy Owens and Kendrick Trickle. My personal favourite character Dom, the St. Bernard develops an attachment to Randy, sensing that there is trouble surrounding him. Angie doesn't understand what is going on at the home. Why is Carol acting like she doesn't want their help? Why are the residents only fed oatmeal when there is food in the freezer and pantry? Why is there rat poison stored near the food? The social worker assigned to the home has told Carol that if the home is not brought up to code she will lose her license.
Carol tells them not to talk to the residents but Angie spends a lot of time with Randy and finds out that he's not as frail as Carol paints him out to be. Angie also agrees to reunite Randy with his long-lost son and his family.
It comes to light that there is someone pressuring Carol, perhaps hoping to have the home fixed up so that it could be sold. Why is Carol the beneficiary for all the residents, past and present in their wills? When one of the residents winds up in hospital, the gang realizes that they have to work fast before something worse happens.
One confusing point in the book is that there are several references to the Scooby-Doo gang. Two characters are mentioned several times as Daphne and Greg. I believe the character that is meant to be mentioned is "Fred", not "Greg".
I'll be looking forward to the next visit with the County Seat crew.
I enjoyed this novella. I love the characters and loved the ending of this book. #APumpkinSpiceKilling #NetGalley
“A Pumpkin Spice Killing" a novella in the Farm to Fork Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon. I have really grown to love this series!
Angie Turner's Idaho restaurant, the County Seat, owes its success not only to its farm-fresh fair, but also to its devoted and passionate staff. But a team-building retreat turns into much more than they bargained for . . .
I really enjoyed this story, and I love Angies County Seat Crew/family and Dom the Saint Bernard. Angie has surrounded herself with a good group of people, who believe in charity and hard work, this go around the team building event is helping out at a VA home for elderly veterans. Dom plays a big role in the story which I liked, as I believe dogs can sense when something is not right.
The mystery is interesting and well plotted. I kept guessing and second-guessing myself on whodunnit right to the very end. I can’t wait for book 6 and find out what’s in store with Angie and her friends.
I recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.
I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Kensington Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Nice short story that's fine for a quick read about nice people for a change.
I requested and received a temporary digital ARC of this book from Kensington Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
Loved reading this short story and series. I highly recommend this author and all her series. If you haven't read this series yet do it in order
This is the first book I’ve read in the series. It was good, short and right to the point. But the title is misleading. The characters do drink pumpkin spice lattes in the first chapter, other than that there wasn’t anything indicating that it was Fall. I was expecting a more Halloween themed book. Oh well.
Angie and her County Seat staff head to a military veteran's home to help renovate the building and find mystery and a possible murder.
This was a great cozy mystery novella. It had all of the aspects of a regular-sized novel. I felt like I was visiting old friends. The mystery was compelling, and the ending was satisfying. I received an advanced reader's copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
A Pumpkin Spice Killing by Lynn Cahoon (A Farm to Fork Novella) 4.5 stars
A nice introduction to the Farm to Form series by Lynn Cahoon. You get a sense of the main characters of the series and their relationships with each other. I enjoyed this short mystery, it was a fast and fun read. I am definitely going to try to find the other books in this series. This novella referenced a previous short mystery that had the gang going to a haunted prison - I am definitely going to read "Penned In".
Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC.

A Pumpkin Spice Killing
Farm-to-Fork Mystery
By Lynn Cahoon
This is a novella in the Farm-to-Fork Mystery.
The gang from County Seat is off on another helping mission, this time at a assisted living home. when they arrive there are only two male residents living there, we find out a third one died. Not sure if it’s murder or old age. The resident care taker doesn’t want Angie and the gang there and isn’t pleasant to them. Angie has her investigating hat on along with her friends.
Before their time is up they have to figure out what is going on before someone else checks out before their time.
I love all Lynn Cahoon books!! And this is great addition to Farm-to-Fork Mystery.
It was a short read but had so much to tell, that you want to come back and have a seat and listen to them again. It was a pleasure, can’t wait for the next book in this series!!
I received this temp e-book from NetGalley for my honest opinion.
I would recommend this book highly it was a fantastic read.
I chose this book from Netgalley, not realizing that it was a series. I love reading books out of season, and the pumpkin spice title really called to me in this 90 degree late Spring. I really enjoyed it, and will definitely be spending some time reading the earlier books.
This cozy mystery is charming. Full of characters that I want to get to know, and fun interactions among them. I’m excited to have found a new series. Highly recommended!
Such a fun read with Angie and her crew headed out for a 4 day team building weekend. Little did they know what they were walking into.
The woman that owns the home doesn't want them there and the gentleman that call this place home are starved for food and company.
Angie and Scoobie gang, including her dog Dom will do whatever they can to help.
A Pumpkin Spice Killing by Lynn Cahoon is a short story that you can easily read in one sitting. Although this is 5.5 in the Farm to Fork series, this is my first time reading the series. What a wonderful introduction to the County Seat crew. I really liked Angie, Ian, and everybody else. The whodunit had a different outcome than what I initially thought. I will definitely be going back to the beginning of this series. Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
Another good cozy. I am becoming a huge fan of the cozy mystery genre due to books like this. You can read this as an escape from the everyday in a weekend. A really good mystery.
Lynn Cahoon is one of my favorites.
A Pumpkin Spice Killing is a new novella in the Farm-to-Fork Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon. What a treat to visit with the gang from the County Seat as they strive to help out a veterans' assisted living home. The catch? Someone does not want them there and makes that plainly known. When the crew realizes a recent death may not be on the up and up--- the race to solve the mystery is on. A very enjoyable and quick read!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own, I review books I enjoy. #APumpkinSpiceKilling #NetGalley
This is a quick read, a visit with favorite friends from The County Seat, but also a great escape read.
Angie Turner and friends are on a mission to spread cheer into the world and make a positive difference to people in need. This time they travel to an assisted living type group home that caters to aged veterans.
Expecting to be joyfully welcomed, the group is prepared to do repairs, refresh the looks of the house and treat the residents to nutritious fresh food. What they actually find concerns them.
The caretaker, home owner, resents their intrusion and disruption to her schedule.
What is she trying to hide?
This is a book about making the world a better place but also questioning the motives of people in positions of influence. I found myself suspecting someone early on but not sure why.
My favorite character is Dom who seems to instinctively know more than anyone else.
As the group tries to solve mysteries and make the home safer and more pleasant for the residents we also learn more about the County Seat characters.
Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of Pumpkin Spice Killing by Lynn Cahoon in exchange for an honest review. Angie Turner runs a restaurant called County Seat. The staff head off to work at a home for veterans. There are several projects that need to be done. Angie and her dog, Dom, make friends with one of the vets, Randy, who fought in Vietnam. Lynn Cahoon has a nice, easy way of writing. I love her books. This one touched my heart. I was reading it over memorial day weekend and my father was a Marine during the Korean war. It is so sad what happens to some veterans. This was a great story.
