For Vacation Only by Mila Nicks is a perfect fit for readers who crave a lighthearted, adventurous, and romantic escape, seeking a fun and flirty summer holiday read that combines the thrill of a cruise ship romance with the excitement of opposites-attract and friends-to-lovers tropes.
This was such a fun stray from what I normally read! The cover was what originally drew me to this book - I am completely guilty of judging a book by its cover and am equally guilty of reading mostly books that I deem "pretty" (I know how subjective that is, but I can't help it). Most of the time it works for me occasionally it doesn't. This time I think it worked out relatively well. The characters and couple were easy to fall in love with and the setting was a fun place to escape into for a few hours. From the first page I was sucked in and the fast pace of the plot had be flipping pages as fast as I could read them and still understand what was going on.
Though a fun fast read, it wasn't perfect. I found some issues with certain character interactions and parts of the dialogue were cheesy and a bit eye rolling. But that's kind of to be expected from a Romcom. Overall I enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to many if not all of my contemporary romance reading patrons.
This was an absolutely stunning read, a beautiful whirlwind of a romance between Blake and Jubilee. I really loved and connected with Jubilee on so many levels, she really felt like a personal character for me. Who couldn’t love Blake? I think we all want our very own Clark Kent! Growing up in an environment like his, he still grew up to be a beautiful man who had the right morals in place and was willing to give the money and power up for Jubilee and a life filled with happiness. I absolutely adored this couple and this story, i would highly recommend.
I love the couple in this book! The writing was easy to get sucked into and the characters were great! I highly recommend this one!
This was perfect. I love friends to lovers and this was done so well. I love you beefy Blake!!!!!!!!
I requested a copy of this book on a whim because of the beautiful cover. Sadly, the cover was the best thing about it. The writing was very corny, especially the awkward dialogue. The plot and the characters were unoriginal and one-dimensional. It was the most basic of fluff. I finished it, but just barely.
3.5 stars
It took me a while to finish reading this book because I didn't have time to read it in the last few days, but whenever I sit to read this story I read it very fast.
I loved the vacation, sun, and travel vibe that this book has, I think because here in Brazil it's hot right now this book was perfect for the moment. So I really liked Blake, I loved how even though he was rich he was still sweet, loving, affectionate, shy, and accepted his mistakes, he was not arrogant at all and I did actually think he was a great person, he was one of the loveliest romantic partners that I've read about, I loved him and I loved the way he treated our protagonist.
I found their romance to be very well constructed and developed.
The only thing I didn't like was how the conflicts were generated, with the clichés of hearing only the bad part of a conversation, lack of communication, and the vindictive ex that doesn't get over.
The female rivalry in this book was something that bothered me sometimes.
But in the end, everything was sorted out quickly, so I recommend this book, is a great book to read on vacation or when traveling to a hot tropical place!
This was a wonderful chiclit/romcom and I will definitely be buying a copy of it. I love the way Mila Nicks writes, so I will definitely be reading more in the future.
This was an absolute cover request for me. I love the cover so much, unfortunately I didn't feel as strongly about the romance. I had trouble feeling invested in this one, I think I may try again at a later point. but for now its a DNF
Set within a fourteen-day, luxurious Mediterranean cruise, this story was a lovely escape. It was such a cute romance and I really enjoyed the story. A mini vacation in book form - would definitely recommend.
This is honestly exactly what I needed. Everything about this book was absolutely perfect and the hero upped my standards by like a million. The heroine was SO relatable and the scenery was so well described it felt like I was literally in this book! I was so invested in the characters well beings and felt everything they were feeling and enjoyed this tremendously.
A silly, happy rom-com For Vacation Only is brain candy. A kind handsome millionaire is left at the altar by his fiancee and decides to go on the honeymoon cruise alone in a spur of the moment decision to reinvent himself. A bubbly sweet cruise singer who is a little bit down on herself after being dumped by her on again off again boyfriend makes a similar decision to reinvent herself. They meet by chance and spend the cruise together touring the sights and falling in love. The only question is will they tell each other how they feel? Are their worlds too different for this to last? Will it be For Vacation Only?

I can’t lie, I wanted to read this for the cover. I knew this would be a feel-good, easy, and cliché summer read. And it made the perfect story for the sunshine. I have only read one of Nicks’ books before, Love’s Recipe, and the romance aspect is what earned the stars. For Vacation Only is no different, it’s not too deep, and the love story is really the best part.
The characters are sweet and lovable, and their personalities surprised me. Blake, who has lived in the lap of luxury since birth is timid and modest. While Jubilee, who fights for every opportunity to be on the stage, is bold and assertive. I love the contrast between them, and it really contributes to the bubbly and exciting dynamic in the book.
I wasn’t a fan of the miscommunication during the inevitable conflict, but did appreciate the resolution and conclusion. There’s quite a bit of reputation, such as the descriptions of Jubilee’s “lavender curls” and the fact that Blake looks like “Clark Kent”, which did feel overused. But as a whole, I really enjoyed this book!
I enjoyed the cruising aspect of this story - getting to visit ports I've been to before and exploring new ones that I'd like to visit. Jubilee acts as a great tour guide, giving the reader just enough information to be intrigued without bogging us down with useless facts. Blake is a lovably adorable rich boy who is a little awkward, making him more accessible for Jubilee, who never quite feels like she measures up because of his wealth. This book teaches that under it all, we're all just people and we create the barriers that stop us. Their courtship is believable. The fight they have was predictable as was the ending but I enjoyed the ride. This would be a great beach/cruise read.
Idk y'all. This just wasn't my cup of tea I guess. Like, they spent more time apart after the cruise than they actually spent together. And for the both of them having literally just come out of relationships (I know they weren't necessarily true love relationships, but Blake was going to get married)the speed that the relationship between Blake and Jubilee was just so fast. And then the ending just kind of... happened. Like, all at once.
I also found it annoying the way Jubilee kept repeating the same bit about Blake's money. I don't disagree that it wasn't a barrier between them/something they should talk about, but she literally just said the same thing like five different times and there was no actual conversation.
That being said, I liked the characters of Jubilee and Blake individually, but I just wasn't feeling the spark between them because it was just like ope- we're in love now! The way Nicks writes about the different places the characters visit was wonderful, though. I felt like I could see them in my head as clearly as a picture.
Netgalley has introduced me to so many great novelist and Mila Nicks is one of them. I read her Halloween paranormal romances and it was a treat. This one was the absolute, most perfect vacation beach read ever. Jubliee is carefree and delightful, really balancing Blake out. I am not understanding other reviews about character chemistry! They had great chemistry IMO
Sweet story! I loved Blake and Jubilee’s relationship and how the both developed. Loved how at the end they both got what they wanted. A sweet perfect summer read!
Thank you to the publisher for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review.
I DNF'd around 40% or so. I didn't like the story or characters. the plot was too excessive and slightly boring.
