Kimberly Belle is one of my favorite authors, I love all of her books.
She really outdid herself with the pace of this one. You will feel nonstop pressure and anxiety as you fly through it. I was turning pages so fast I’m surprised I didn’t get a paper cut 😂

Good book with an intriguing open and moves fast from there. There were also some surprises along the way.
oh man! this is a super quick, super crazy read. One day in the life of the Lasky family, Cam and Jade and the Bees, their two sweet babies. Cam's house of cards is falling, Jade has no idea, and a masked man is terrorizing their children. Nail biting suspense throughout! The ending fell a little flat for me; there was no big OH MY GOD moment. Still a totally enjoyable read!
This was a fantastic fast paced heart-pounding domestic thriller from Kimberly Belle.
Cam and Jade Lasky seem like the perfect married couple. He’s a celebrity chef and the acclaimed steak king of Atlanta, and Jade is a designer. They seem to have it all, two beautiful kids and a home that’s been featured on the glossy pages of interior magazines. Until one day, when Cam’s fifth restaurant burns to the ground and Jade and the kids are taken hostage by a masked home invader.
The book is timestamped, takes place over the course of one day, and is told from four alternating points of view which kept things thrilling throughout, and really helped to build suspense. It was interesting to hear the story from Sebastian, the home invader's point of view, as events unfold inside the Lasky home, and from Jade, who would do anything to save her children.
I was hooked from the beginning of this one, and found My Darling Husband to be a bit of a compulsive read. Belle sure knows how to get the pulse racing.
A captivating, thrilling read. Great story line, well written. Anxiety inducing. I didn’t particularly care for the various points of view, though. Definitely will read more by Kimberly Belle.
With the title, the cover, and how many domestic suspense books I've read over the years, I thought I knew exactly how this one would play out, but it turned out that Kimberly Belle had more up her sleeve than I thought she would. Never tricky, this page-turner held some genuinely scary moments as Jade has to keep herself and her children safe against a masked home intruder while her husband scrambles to fulfill the oddly specific request for money. The best yet from a reliable author!
Cam Lasky is living the American dream, he has the perfect house, wife, job and is a household name in the Atlanta area. One day he arrivals at one of his restaurants to find it’s been destroyed by a fire and to make matters worse he receives a call from his wife that they have been taken hostage in their home by a masked man.
The hostage taker has requested that Cam gets him a large sum of money by 7pm that night or his family dies. Cam is beyond scared as anyone would be however Cam has been hiding a secret that might prevent him from getting that money and in turn killings his family. It’s a race against time to see if Cam can play hero or not.
I’ve read one other book by this author which I really enjoyed and this one might have been even better. I read the book in just over a day and found it extremely hard to put down. The premise is unlike anything I’ve read and I just couldn’t wait to see if Cam could save the day or not. The book also has a larger issue built in which is the American health care system. Being Canadian I generally don’t have to worry about health care or being able to afford it. This is a difficult issue that I know America has struggled with for a long time with no good solution in sight. In any event you should definitely pick up this book and give it a read asap.
I was hooked by the synopsis and the more I read the more I had to know. Who was the perp and how much of a liar was Cam? I liked Beatrix the most. For a little kid she had nerves of steel and tenacity that neither one of her parents exhibited. The only thing I didn’t like about the book was the ending. I don’t like endings that resemble choose your own adventure stories from my childhood. I like decisive endings.
This book is great! Would definitely recommend. Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Giving this one four stars though it was probably more like a high three. This should have been terrifying but instead it was just slightly intense. For a book about a home invasion, I wanted more suspense. The beginning was definitely better than the middle and ending, where I felt it kind of fizzled out. There were also some things left unexplained. The story itself was good, even though I figured out what was going on halfway through it. Overall, I enjoyed this, but nowhere near as much as the author's Dear Wife. I look forward to what Kimberly Belle writes next. Would still recommend for fans of the genre.
Holy cow I flew through this book - just my kind of thriller! Jade and her kids experience such a shocking scare. Love her amazing daughter. I did like the ending- not a fairytale one but very realistic.

MY DARLING HUSBAND was my worst fear come true, a home invasion that was written so flawlessly, the pacing so superbly done, that I felt like it was happening to me.
Jade Lasky is confronted by a masked man in her garage as she's exiting her car with her two children. He wants money, a curiously precise amount, from her husband Cam, who is the self-proclaimed "steak king" of Atlanta. As owner of several restaurant chains, Cam should be drowning in money. His lavish home, the kids' private school, and all his other luxuries certainly suggest that. But the truth is, Cam is barely keeping his business afloat, especially after a devastating fire demolished his most successful restaurant.
The masked intruder taunts Jade when she assures him that Cam will have no trouble delivering the ransom, which is over $700,000. She begins to have her doubts about her husband and wonders if their financial status is the only secret he's been keeping. What begins as a violent crime begins to shift into a deep moral dilemma, and Jade finds herself being forced to make a decision no parent should have to make.
This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and it did NOT disappoint. When I tell you that reading this book was like watching an ID Channel true crime show come to life, I mean it was a completely immersive experience. She nailed the emotion, the crippling fear, and best of all, the lengths a parent will go to to protect a child. I think I stress ate the entire time I was reading, and while I desperately wanted to find out the resolution, I was also terrified to turn another page.

Heart pounding, nail biting, holding my breath thriller.

Set in Atlanta, Cam Lasky is the Steak King. He has multiple restaurants in Atlanta’s high end dining scene. People wait two weeks to get a reservation.
Cam and wife Jade are a normal, happily married couple with two beautiful children they affectionately refer to as The Bee’s, Beatrix and Baxter. They live in a very nice spacious home as Cam manages the rapidly growing restaurant business. This blissful world is upended when Jade is confronted by a masked home invader. The man holds Jade and the children for ransom money. Cam scrambles to gather the ransom money to save his family’s life while racing against the clock. During this process some pretty ugly secrets come out and in a very major way.
Still, Cam is a good father, a celebrity chef and a darling husband, but there’s another side he’s kept hidden from Jade that has put their family in mortal danger. Unbeknownst to Cam and Jade, the home invader has been watching them and is about to turn their family secrets into a public scandal.
This well written thriller is fast paced and kept me on edge until the very end.
This is the kind of book that will have you put aside anything else in your life to read it; I read it in every spare minute I had over the course of two days. A bit exhausting because the tension never really lets up, but expertly written so that the many layers are gradually and satisfyingly revealed, leaving no loose ends hanging. It's about the lengths parents will go to protect their children and a searing indictment on certain aspects of the failures of the American system--to say more than that would be giving too much away. If you like thrillers, I'd highly recommend this novel. Many thanks to Park Row and NetGalley for an e-ARC of this book.
We all have our own versions of the truth based on our perspective and experiences. Cam is a restauranteur in deep financial trouble. Jade, his wife, thinks he’s successful and is unaware of things Cam has done to protect his “brand.” Enter a masked man who takes Jade and her children hostage, demanding that Cam give him a large sum of money or he will kill Cam’s family. Twists, turns and revelations examine what people will do in the face of desperation.
First off like always I want to say a huge thank you to the publisher Bookouture , the author Kimberly Belle , and to NetGalley for the invite to join this blog tour as well as letting me read and review it. Wow now this is my kind of story, secrets, lies, family drama. The type of story that once you start you knew that its going to be good because it the one thing that you love , it makes you set there and just read . Plus its a fast-paced thriller which is right up there as one of my favorite types of books to read . Every time I turned the page I was like setting on the edge of my set, wanting and having to knew what was going to happen next . And it didn't let me down at all. It was everything that I was hoping it would be and so much more.
A fast-paced thriller that kept me glued to the pages until the very end. Loved the premise, and the kids' personalities were particularly well-crafted. I did not guess the ending and that makes the book particularly satisfying. A great page-turner.
Jade and her children are in danger. A masked man is holding them hostage in their house. Jade must rely on her husband to save them, But everything isn’t as it seems (is it ever?) and Jade learns that her husband isn’t all that perfect after all.
Fast paced thriller that kept me reading.
