Unfortunately this book did not work for me. I read the first 50 pages and could not get into the story. Thank you for letting me read and review the book.
I thought this was going to be a typical romcom, but for some reason, I couldn't get into this one as much as I normally do.
I have tried a couple times and I can’t seem to get into this book. I believe it’s a case of it just not being for me.
Jess and Tom's relationship is fairly doomed from the start. Due to some serious misunderstandings and missed opportunities, they keep flitting in and out of each other's lives. This is a bit of a heavy read and the cover is misleading since everyone seems to be using those.
It took me a few attempts to read this book and was an OK read for me. I want to thank the publisher and netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
I have to admit I did not finish this. I tried three times to be able to, and it just couldn't bring me into the storyline. Thanks for try @Netgalley.
Perfect Timing was an enjoyable read. It dealt with heavier topics than I was expecting, but I thought those topics were handled with care. I loved Tom and Jess's story and journey!
Up-and-coming musician Tom thinks he met the love of his life one night a year ago, but thanks to a made-up girlfriend, he’s pretty sure he’s never going to see her again. If it weren’t for the painkillers the doctor had given him for his dislocated shoulder, he could’ve explained what really happened. But now the moment for explanations has gone, so he just keeps writing songs about her in the wild hope that she’ll hear one on the radio and understand.
Jess thinks she met a cheating liar one night a year ago, but much to her chagrin, she can’t seem to stop thinking about him. When she finally decides to take it upon herself to tell Tom’s girlfriend what happened that night, she finds out that the truth isn’t quite what she thought it was. But by then it’s too late—she’s headed to the other side of the world to launch her comedy career.
As the years go by, Tom and Jess are never far from each other’s thoughts. But every time it seems that there might be a way for them to move forward, something else conspires to keep them apart. In life and in love, timing is everything—but will Tom and Jess ever manage to get it right?
Really enjoyed this book! Such a fun read with great character development! Such a fun one and great to grab!
Cute book - very predictable but the characters where fun. Nothing beats the pairing of a social awkward guy and a self deprecating and loud mouth lady. Enjoyed the characters and cheesy story.
This was a great read. Exploring the lives, problems, and struggles of characters all at different stages in their lives. I loved it! Very interesting and great writing!
This is not a romance story. It is a love story with deep flaws and reality. It was well written although I don’t feel as if I really engaged with the characters. Maybe that helped me to see the flawed side of the story. I liked it.
Many thanks to Random House Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Thank you, NetGalley for giving me an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, while somewhat being a will-they, won't-they story, the author gave room for the characters to grow. There are many romance books where it's obvious the characters broke up when the book ended but in Perfect Timing, I am 100% they stayed together forever and nothing makes me happier.
The cover on this looks all happy with the bright yellow and teal colors, but this book is not a rom-com, kind or misleading. It deals with anxiety, depression, loneliness and substance abuse. Jess and Tom seems to never find the right time to connect, lots of miscommunication and opportunities in their encounters.
That being said, this story is still a great read, it's just a serious read. I enjoyed their story and found it entertaining, I recommend this, just know the cover is not a rom-com.
I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I loved that you get to read from the point of view of both Tom and Jess. Because normally in Rom Com's you don't get the heroes point of view so that was nice.
Fate keeps bringing Tom, an up and coming musician, and Jess, a comedian just starting her career, together. Throughout the years they keep randomly running into each other, and they seem like they would be a great couple, but the timing is never quite right. The question becomes, will it ever be the right time for them?
This is a book I grabbed because many friends enjoyed it and it sounded like a book I would love. Unfortunately I never actually got into it. I’m not sure why - there was absolutely nothing wrong or anything I have to complain about, it just never fully grasped my attention. That being said, don’t skip this one just because it fell flat to me, I can see this one being a book that many people do enjoy 🤷🏼♀️
Thanks to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for the advanced copy.
Perfect Timing is not a traditional romance novel but a long, complicated love story that may not be the healthiest. It follows Jess and Tom as their lives continue to cross paths repeatedly. However, the timing for them never seems to be right. I finished the book, but I never really connected to these characters. I did enjoy the narrators, who both performed with great Scottish accents.
Thank you, Dell publishing, for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I have had this ARC for quite a while and even started it a couple of times, but it never felt like the right time for me to read this. Well today was the day I finally committed to reading this and I am so glad I did.
Jess is an aspiring comedian when she meets Tom a musician at a festival that they are performing in. They immediately hit it off, but when lies and misunderstandings happen, it ultimately ruins their chance at a relationship.
They spend the next years crossing paths, but never find the “perfect timing” to be together, whether they are in other relationships or are working on themselves personally.
This was such a cute love story, but had a lot of depth to their characters. Each of them dealing with their own pasts that continually make them second guess their careers and their feelings for each other.
This was simply delightful. If you are just hearing about this book for the first time, then I highly recommend this, and if you overlooked it, give it a chance.
Thank you NetGalley and Ballentine for an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is definitely not romance forward like I was expecting. I also didn’t connect with the characters.
This just didn’t fully woo me, and I couldn’t ever get into it.
A novel that drives home the "right place, wrong time" angle in a romance.
Tom and Jess keep finding their lives intersecting but always in a way that causes misunderstandings. Neither can stop thinking of the other. Can they get to a "right place, right time" before it is too late?
Loved this book about the timing of relationships - how you can meet the right person at the wrong time. Owen Nicholls' Perfect Timing is a book about how you need to find yourself before you can find the one.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.
Perfect Timing was a good book to start and finish while laying at the pool. At times, I got frustrated with the characters with their missed opportunities to tell each other how they felt. The book isn’t as lighthearted as you would expect from the cover but it is a quick read.
Thank you to Owen Nicholls, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Dell, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
