I had a lot of fun reading this book. A normal morning at the farm takes a bad turn when the other animals notice someone is missing. A local detective agrees to take the case and starts compiling clues. While the investigation moves forward someone seems to be trying to tell everyone something important. As this case comes to a close the animals at the farm decide a celebration is in order.

Amusing story with colorful cartoon illustrations. Kids will enjoy goat detective Billiam Van Hoof's zany theories, especially about aliens. The fact that aliens actually show up at the end adds to the fun.

The farm animals discover that Cow is missing. They know the best thing to do is to contact the #1 Goat Detective, Inspector VanHoof. Readers will appreciate the humor as this detective heads for the farm and gets sidetracked. Then how he reaches his conclusions will continue the fun. Readers may even be able to figure out what the calves are trying to share. Clever language that elementary readers will understand. The illustrations show the character expressions and also what is going on in the background. A light read for mid elementary level.

The illustrations are cute, there are several clever lines, like the raccoon investigates the garbage. The only part that seemed a bit out of place was the infatuation with the ex-goat-girlfriend.
